Rings and amulets in The Blood of Dawnwalker do not scale with Coen automatically. A Level 9 amulet stays a Level 9 amulet no matter how strong you get, so the accessory you loved in the early hours quietly becomes dead weight unless you pay to bring it up to your current tier. The vendor who handles that work is not the blacksmith you would expect.
Quick answer: Travel to a witchcraft vendor, choose “Improve the magic in these,” pick the ring or amulet, set the target level, then hold the upgrade button to pay the Denarii cost.
What you need before upgrading a ring or amulet
Jewelry upgrades have no crafting materials attached. The only real gate is money and access to the right merchant.
- Denarii, and a lot of it at higher tiers. Cost climbs with both the item’s rarity and the level you are pushing it to.
- The piece in your inventory. It does not need to be equipped, though equipping it first makes the before-and-after easy to read.
- Daytime. Merchants and stalls shut down at night, so a witch you can trade with at noon may be unavailable after dark.

Witchcraft vendors are marked on the world map with their own icon, so the fastest way to find one is to open the map and scan for that symbol rather than wandering settlements. Two are easy to reach and cover most of your playthrough.

| Vendor | Where to look |
|---|---|
| Vera | Briar Sloughs, in the swamps west of the Maragir Wealds. Close to where the game opens up, so she is usually the first option available. |
| Witchcraft vendor | The Middens, just west of Svartrau City. Convenient once you are spending most of your time in the largest settlement on the map. |
Vera is worth prioritizing early. She sits within easy reach of the starting region, and beyond jewelry she also enhances armour and stocks a rotating selection of goods, which makes her a single stop for gear maintenance before you have unlocked the city vendors.

The Middens vendor becomes the more practical choice later. Svartrau City is where you will naturally spend time as the story pushes north, and the walk out to the Middens is far shorter than a fast travel run back to the swamps every time an accessory falls behind.

How to upgrade jewelry at a witchcraft vendor

Why the upgrade button will not go through
The most common blocker is simply price. If your Denarii falls short of the total for the level you selected, the confirmation is greyed out and holding the button does nothing. Dropping the target level by one or two tiers usually brings it back within reach.

The other reason is the wrong counter. Blacksmiths and armourers across Vale Sangora handle weapons and armour, and they are the vendors you will lean on for those slots. If a metalworking vendor’s upgrade list does not include the ring or amulet you are carrying, take it to a witch instead.
Note: costs scale hard. Keeping a high-rarity item current in the late game can run into thousands of Denarii per upgrade, so it is worth deciding which one or two accessories you actually intend to carry to the end rather than topping up everything in your bag.
Because upgrades are pure currency spend with no material requirement, a legendary amulet found in the opening hours can stay competitive for an entire playthrough, provided you keep feeding it coin. Treat the witches as a regular stop rather than a one-off, and check your accessory levels whenever Coen gains a few levels of his own.
