Every hero and artifact change landing with the 8th anniversary adjustment, and what each one does in practice.

Epic Seven’s next balance adjustment lands on September 17th, timed to the game’s 8th anniversary. Fourteen heroes and two artifacts are being touched, with three of those changes qualifying as full reworks rather than number tweaks.

Quick answer: The three heroes worth planning gear around are Kawerik (new Fighting Spirit and Mana Field system), Frida (her free soulburn buff now applies to the entire team), and Chaos Sect Axe (injuries, self-healing, and a cooldown reset added to his kit).

Full list of heroes and artifacts in the 9/17 balance adjustment

The adjustment covers a mix of Moonlight fives, RGB units, and two 5-star artifacts. Four ML5s are included: Desert Jewel Basar, Urban Shadow Choux, Abyssal Yufine, and Monarch of the Sword Iseria.

Kawerik rework: Fighting Spirit and Mana Field

Kawerik is the largest structural change in the patch. He gains a Fighting Spirit resource tied to a Mana Field mechanic, which lets him nullify skill damage and take extra turns off critical hits.

The rest of the kit is rebuilt around feeding that loop. His S1 now pushes combat readiness, his S2 applies a full cooldown increase, and his S3 gains defense penetration. His exclusive equipment is adjusted alongside him, changing the S3 attack buff duration and its silence effect.

Frida: Oasis All-Ride Pass now covers the whole team

Frida’s Oasis All-Ride Pass currently reaches only herself and the frontmost ally. After the patch it extends to all allies, meaning the full team receives a free soulburn.

That is the single biggest practical shift in the patch for team building. Any composition stacked with soulburn-dependent damage dealers gets a free activation across the board, which changes how aggressive first-turn setups are priced in soul cost.

Chaos Sect Axe rework: injuries, healing, and a cooldown reset

Axe God receives the second comprehensive rework of the patch. Injury application and self-healing are added to his kit, his S2 gets a cooldown reduction, and his S3 gains both a dispel and a cooldown reset.

Church of Ilryos Axe is also listed among the adjusted units, so both versions of the hero are being touched in the same pass.

Moonlight 5-star changes: Basar, Choux, Yufine, Iseria

Desert Jewel Basar’s Desert Cycle (S2) becomes a passive trigger. Once he has been granted a barrier, an enemy using a skill causes barrier inversion to be applied to all enemies. His Bastet Roar (S3) picks up damage reduction on top of that.

Monarch of the Sword Iseria’s Elbris’s Successor (S2) gains a 70% hit chance increase on its counterattack, aimed squarely at evasion-stacked opponents. Abyssal Yufine’s S3 moves to 100% defense penetration with a damage increase attached.

Urban Shadow Choux gets three separate touches. Her S1 soulburn damage goes up, her S2 passive now grants focus at the start of battle, and her S3 gains defense penetration.

Elena, Shadow Rose, Celestial Mercedes, Crimson Armin, and Glenn

Elena’s S2 passive damage reduction rises to 30%, and it now dispels one debuff from all allies as a built-in effect. That removes the need to pair her with a separate cleanser in some setups.

HeroWhat changes
ElenaS2 damage reduction to 30%; dispels one debuff from all allies
Shadow RoseS3 gains an attack buff; damage scaling adjusted
Celestial MercedesS1 damage scaling up, S2 cooldown reduced, S3 combat readiness push improved
Crimson ArminS2 passive damage reduction to 20%
Glenn / Vigilante Leader GlennS1 hit chance, S2 attack buff, and rune adjustments

Artifact changes: Sphere of Sadism and Spear of a New Dawn

Both artifact changes are narrow damage adjustments. Sphere of Sadism increases its damage on single-target attacks, while Spear of a New Dawn raises its additional damage figure.

Note: Neither change alters how the artifacts trigger, so existing builds using them do not need regearing.

How to confirm the changes are live

Balance adjustments apply on the listed date and are visible in-game on each hero’s skill description page. Open the hero’s profile and read the skill text directly. If Frida’s Oasis All-Ride Pass still names only herself and the foremost ally, the update has not applied to your client yet.

Preview details are subject to change before the adjustment goes live, so final numbers should be checked against the in-game skill text rather than the preview.

Community reaction to recent balance passes has skewed toward frustration at repeat buff targets and small numerical nudges, so a patch containing three genuine reworks is a departure from that pattern. Whether Kawerik’s Fighting Spirit loop and Frida’s team-wide soulburn actually reshape arena defenses will come down to how the numbers land once players start testing them.
