Most Precious Thing is a short side quest in The Blood of Dawnwalker that hands you a bargaining chip. A group of Brencis’ soldiers is pinned down in a monastery overrun by Undead Nuns, and the man leading them holds the key to the passage you need. He will trade it, but only for a relic he thinks is still sitting in the chapel.
Quick answer: Agree to the soldier’s terms, cross to the Chapel, inspect St. Tyna’s coffin to learn the necklace was stolen, grab the keys from the shed beside the Sacristy, unlock it, and loot the necklace from the body on the floor. Returning it ends the quest peacefully; refusing starts a fight.
Where the Most Precious Thing quest starts
You pick this up in the middle of the main quest Echoes of the Silenced Bells, right after Anca finishes talking and tells you to find a route to the Library. Nothing appears on the map until you speak to the soldiers, so the trigger is entirely on you.

The Chapel sits on the far side of the courtyard, which is exactly where the nuns are. You do not have to clear them out. At night, vampiric traversal lets you skip the whole encounter by going over it instead of through it.

Inspect St. Tyna’s tomb to learn the necklace was stolen
The relic is not where the soldier says it is, and the game wants you to find that out for yourself before it moves the marker.
Note: it is worth searching the rooms you pass through on the way. Containers around the monastery hold craftable pickups, including the recipe for Regenerative Salve.

Sacristy key location and where to find St. Tyna’s necklace
The Sacristy door is locked, and the key is not far from it. Skipping the shed is the most common reason people bounce off this objective.

Hand over the necklace or keep it: both endings explained
Carry the necklace back to the group guarding the passage and the quest gives you the final call. Both outcomes close it out, but only one of them avoids a fight.

| Your choice | What happens |
|---|---|
| Give them the necklace | The soldiers take the relic and leave the area without incident. No combat. |
| Keep the relic | The soldiers turn hostile. Defeating them completes the quest. |
Either way, the passage toward the Library opens up and Echoes of the Silenced Bells carries on. Keeping the relic means fighting a group of armed men in a monastery that still has Undead Nuns roaming it, so weigh that against how confident you feel at your current level.
How to confirm the quest is done
Most Precious Thing is marked complete once the soldiers are dealt with, either through the handover dialogue or by killing them. If the quest is not moving, check these points in order.
- You accepted the soldier leader’s terms. Without that conversation, the Chapel objective never appears.
- You inspected St. Tyna’s body in the coffin. The marker only moves to the Sacristy after you find the necklace missing.
- You picked up the keys from the shed before trying the Sacristy door.
- You looted the body inside the Sacristy rather than just walking past it.
The whole detour is short, and the rooftop route means you can finish it without ever touching the courtyard. If you would rather not gamble on a brawl at the end, hand the necklace over and let the soldiers walk.
