Batman villains have scattered chunks of Gotham City across the main island of LEGO Fortnite Odyssey, and the Knight Shift event turns that mess into a six-quest chain in your Journal. Finish the chain and you walk away with the Batglider, the Batman Grapnel, and a buildable Batmobile ’89 plus four Batmobile decor pieces.
Quick answer: Load into the main island, follow a Bat-Signal beam to a Gotham City location, and clear three Gotham challenges — that alone unlocks the Batglider and Batman Grapnel. The Batmobile ’89 build appears once all six Journal quests are marked complete.
Where the Batman quests are and which world they count in
The Gotham City locations only spawn on the main island. If you are standing on the Ninjago, Klombo, or Star Wars islands, nothing in the Batman chain will track, no matter how many enemies you take down. Sandbox worlds do count, so a creative world is a legitimate shortcut if you would rather not fight for resources.
Finding the objective is the easy part. Look up and you will see Bat-Signal beams punching into the sky above the new Gotham City points of interest, and the same spots are flagged on your map with the bat symbol. Pick the nearest one and head for it.

Add to Google Preferences →All six Batman Journal quests and their objectives
The chain runs in order, and each quest unlocks the next one in the Journal. Here is the full list with the exact counter you need to fill.
| Quest | Objective | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Gotham City Needs You (1/6) | Clear 3 Gotham challenges | Any Gotham City location |
| I Had a Hench You’d Be Here… (2/6) | Clear Robinson Park (8 henchmen) | Robinson Park |
| Holy Hot Peppers Batman (3/6) | Collect 10 Peppers | Dry Valley |
| Poison Ivy (4/6) | Defeat 10 Scorpions | Dry Valley |
| POW-er Cells (5/6) | Craft 10 Biomass | Compost Bin at your base |
| Commissioner Gourd On (6/6) | Collect 10 Pumpkins | Grasslands |
Unlock the Batglider and Batman Grapnel first

Peppers and scorpions in the Dry Valley biome
Quests three and four both live in Dry Valley, so make one trip and knock them out together. Hot peppers grow on bushes scattered around the desert and you need 10 of them.
Scorpions are the fiddlier half. They burrow and blend into the sand, which makes 10 kills slower than it sounds. Turning on the “Visualize Sound Effects” accessibility option puts on-screen indicators over nearby noise, and scorpions become far easier to pin down once you can see where the sound is coming from.
Compost Bin recipe and crafting 10 Biomass
POW-er Cells is the longest quest in the chain because you need a building you may not own yet. The Compost Bin is the only way to produce Biomass, and its recipe pulls from two different biomes plus your chickens.
| Material | Amount | How to get it |
|---|---|---|
| Plank | 5 | Process wood at a Lumber Mill |
| Soil | 2 | Dig in the Grasslands |
| Sand | 1 | Dig in the Dry Valley |
| Fertilizer | 3 | Feed chickens and wait for them to drop it |

Collect 10 Pumpkins to finish the Batmobile ’89
Commissioner Gourd On is the final step and by far the shortest. Pumpkins spawn on the ground in the Grasslands biome, usually in clusters near open fields, and you simply pick up 10 of them.
The moment the counter hits 10, the Journal marks the chain complete and the Batmobile ’89 becomes available. You will find it in your build menu as a placeable vehicle build, alongside the four Batmobile decor pieces.
Why Batman quest progress can stall
If a counter refuses to move, the cause is almost always one of these:
- You are on Ninjago, Klombo, or a Star Wars island instead of the main island.
- Robinson Park still has one or more of its eight henchmen alive, so the location never registers as cleared.
- You are gathering peppers or fighting scorpions outside the Dry Valley biome, or hunting pumpkins outside the Grasslands.
- The Compost Bin has not finished processing yet — Biomass counts on output, not on the items you put in.
Knight Shift deadline and the October rewards
Knight Shift runs from September 3 to October 15, split into two drops. The first drop covers weeks one and two and holds everything above, with weeks three and four set aside purely as catch-up time for anyone still chasing rewards. The Batmobile ’89 build and its decor pieces stop being claimable at 4AM ET on October 15.
The second drop opens on October 1 and adds a further set of quests that award The Bat, the flying vehicle, and let you recruit Batman as a villager in update 42.30. That recruitment is gated behind finishing everything, so clearing the six quests now is what keeps the October rewards on the table rather than something else to grind later.
