Where to loot the map near Svartrau City, where to dig in Boar’s Back, and what the chest pays out.

Boar’s Back is one of the shorter treasure hunts in The Blood of Dawnwalker, but it only starts once you have the right map in your inventory. The map sits in a bandit camp near Svartrau City, and the dig site it points to is a single tree in a wooded stretch to the north. The whole run costs one time segment, so it fits neatly into a night you have already committed to the area.

Quick answer: Loot Treasure Map: Boars Back from the barrels in the bandit camp directly west of Svartrau City, then travel north to Boar’s Back and dig the patch of yellow dirt at the base of the large tree inside the search circle.

Treasure map location: Bandit camp west of Svartrau City

Open the world map and look for the Bandit Camp marker sitting directly west of Svartrau City. Fast travel or ride to the nearest point and approach the camp on foot. The bandits here are hostile, so clear them out or slip past them before you start searching containers.
Head for the small shelter inside the camp. The map is tucked into a cluster of pale barrels beside it, and the interaction prompt reads as a steal action rather than a normal loot. Grab it and the activity Bandits’s Treasure Map: Boar’s Back is added to your journal.

The map itself is a quest-tier writing described as taken from bandits, so it cannot be sold or dropped. Once it is in your inventory you can read it at any time from the books section.

Boar’s Back dig site: Find the marked tree

Open the map and select the Search for the treasure objective. A yellow search radius appears over the Boar’s Back region, north of Svartrau City, and the journal entry describes a tree grove as the target.

Travel into the circle and move toward the largest, most obvious tree inside it. The search area is small enough to sweep on foot in under a minute, and the tree stands out from the surrounding growth.

Look at the ground around the base of the tree for a patch of loose yellow-orange dirt. That patch is the only interactable spot in the area, and digging it opens the buried chest.

Note: digging in The Blood of Dawnwalker needs a shovel, so carry one before you make the trip. Without it the prompt tells you the tool is missing instead of opening the chest.

Boar’s Back treasure rewards

The chest is a mixed payout rather than a build-defining one. The ring is the reason to make the trip if you are anywhere near level 17.

Time cost and how to confirm the quest ended

The activity is listed as one time segment, which matters because the game runs on a hard clock. Plan the map pickup and the dig as a single trip rather than two separate outings.

Confirmation is unambiguous. As soon as you loot the chest, the QUEST ENDED: Bandit’s Treasure Map: Boar’s Back banner appears and the journal logs the outcome as finding the bandits’ stash and taking the valuables. If you leave the area without digging, the entry stays open with the alternate outcome noting you never located the marked tree grove.

Why the dig prompt does not appear

  • You are standing outside the yellow search radius. The dig spot only exists inside the circle shown on the map.
  • You have no shovel equipped or carried, so the interaction is blocked.
  • You are at the wrong tree. The patch of yellow dirt is the marker, not the tree itself, so scan the ground rather than the trunk.

One thing worth knowing before you set out: Boar’s Back holds more than one buried stash. The separate Treasure Map: Briar Sloughs, taken from the bandit leader in Briar Sloughs, also points north into Boar’s Back, but to a dried-up riverbed lined with dead trees rather than this grove. If your search circle sits over a riverbed instead of dense woodland, you are following the wrong map.
