Grand Blue Roblox: How to Play and Finish the Anchor Town Tutorial

From race and trait rerolls to the Pirate Fan Letter quest and your first Flintlock in Anchor Town.

From race and trait rerolls to the Pirate Fan Letter quest and your first Flintlock in Anchor Town.

Grand Blue is an Early Access pirate action RPG on Roblox from Eternal Pose, built around ten-player servers, island quest chains, and Cursed Fruits that spawn on trees every hour. The first thirty minutes are the part most new players fumble, because the tutorial hands you a skill scroll, a stat point, and a quest chain in quick succession and then leaves you standing in Anchor Town.

Quick answer: Redeem codes from Customize Character before you press Play, spawn into Anchor Town in East Blue, talk to Officer Graves and clear the training dummies to unlock Strong Punch, then finish Kore’s Pirate Fan Letter quest, sell the Stolen Watch to the Merchant for 140G, and buy the 150G Flintlock from the Weapon Shop.

Before you press Play: race, traits, and code redemption

The title screen loads a Customize Character menu covering appearance, Traits, and Race. Rerolls are limited, and codes are the cheapest way to stock up on them, so redeem before you spend anything. The Enter Code field sits inside that same menu; type the string exactly as written, including punctuation, and press Redeem.

Trait Storage lets you bank a roll you like instead of committing to it immediately. Open the storage icon, drop the trait into an empty slot, and you can swap back to it later.

WorldBossBroke has already expired. Early Access codes get pulled after updates and milestones without notice, so treat anything that fails as dead rather than mistyped, and check the rest before you assume the whole list is stale.

Grand Blue controls and key binds

The tutorial teaches three of these and quietly skips the rest. Learn the full set now, because the block and dash timings are what carry you through the first repeatable boss later.

Anchor Town tutorial: Officer Graves and the Strong Punch scroll

After the loading screen for First Sea Part 1, you spawn in Anchor Town in East Blue. Walk a lap first to confirm your movement and sprint keys register, then look for the quest marker on Officer Graves.

Press E to start the tutorial questline. Graves sends you to the training dummies to practise the three inputs the game checks for: punching with M1, dashing with Q, and blocking with F.
Hit the marked dummy until the objective counter fills, then perform the dash and the block when the tracker asks for them. Each action only counts against the dummy the quest highlights.

Turn the quest in for the Strong Punch skill scroll. The scroll is not a skill yet. Open your inventory, use it to unlock Strong Punch, and confirm the ability now sits on a number key before you walk away.

Note: the Logbook is worth opening once here. Its tutorial page repeats the control layout, and it tracks world information you will need when island quests start pointing you off-screen.

Stat points: where to spend your first levels

Levelling hands you points to distribute across six stats. Early on, survivability and melee damage do all the work, so spread thin at your own risk.

StatEarly-game guidance
HealthFirst priority. Keeps you alive through Corrupt Marine groups and the first boss loops.
StrengthFirst priority. Raises melee damage, which is all you have before a weapon.
WillpowerReferences Haki, but there is no Haki unlock route in the current Early Access build.
Agility, Precision, EnergyHold off until you have settled on a weapon, a fighting style, and a Cursed Fruit.

Pirate Fan Letter quest: how to complete it

Find Kore in Anchor Town and accept the Pirate Fan Letter quest. The objective is a stolen letter, and the marines who took it patrol nearby.

Fight the Corrupt Marine NPCs until the letter drops. Use M1 strings, dash out with Q when a group starts swinging, and block with F rather than trading hits while your health pool is still small.

Return to Kore and hand the letter in. The quest closes out on the tracker and your loot from the fight, including the Stolen Watch, stays in your bag.

Sell the Stolen Watch and buy the Flintlock

Take the Stolen Watch to the Merchant at Archipelagos Appraisals. It sells for 140G, which is where almost all of your starting money comes from. Stolen items in general go to this vendor rather than the weapon shop.
Head to the Weapon Shop and buy the Flintlock for 150G. The watch covers most of that on its own, so top up with the gold the Corrupt Marines drop if you come up short.

Buying a weapon does nothing until you equip it. Open your backpack, equip the Flintlock, and press V to draw it. Gunshot appears on your skill bar once the weapon is out, and that new ability on a number key is the confirmation that the purchase went through correctly.

What to do after the tutorial

With Strong Punch, Gunshot, and a few stat points spent, the loop turns into island quests. Wandering is the main way new players waste gold and time, so follow the town sequence instead.

LevelsWhere to be, and what unlocks
1–30Anchor Town main quest plus the repeatable Marine Base boss quest behind the large blue gate. An NPC opens the gate for 25 gold if you are too low level. Reaching 30 and getting a Rowboat opens Setting Sail and the Boat Shop.
30–70Clown Town repeatables. Mayor Kiyoshi near the dock unlocks the area’s quests, with more from Johnny Nibbletown and Gambit at the Clownival.
70+Sail east to Maple Village and continue the main quest with the repeatables from Gus and Nell.

Your first Cursed Fruit does not have to be a paid chest. Almighty Calvin, the wizard near the blacksmith in Anchor Town, runs a one-time quest chain that ends in Calvin’s Treasure, which functions as a Fruit Chest. Buy the Rusty Shovel for 25G from the stall below him before you start, since the chain asks you to mine ores.

After that, fruits come from hourly plant spawns on trees, Fruit Chests bought with Celestial Coins, treasure maps handed out by NPCs, and world bosses that spawn on the hour at XX:00. Fruit skill levels save per fruit, so swapping one out does not wipe the mastery you built on it.

Two things to keep in mind while you settle in. Haki has no unlock path in the current build, so ignore guides written for other pirate games that tell you to look for a trainer. And exploiting carries a ban that Eternal Pose has spelled out in the experience description, which makes any auto-farm script a fast way to lose the account you just spent an hour building.
