The Blood of Dawnwalker: Star-Crossed Lovers Quest Walkthrough

Find the armourer's missing daughter in the woods northeast of Maragir and secure every reward the side quest offers.

Find the armourer’s missing daughter in the woods northeast of Maragir and secure every reward the side quest offers.

Star-Crossed Lovers is one of the shorter side quests in The Blood of Dawnwalker, but it hides its solution behind a wide search radius, a soul-compelling puzzle, and a wolf pack. It starts with a grieving father in Maragir and ends with a body in the trees, and the whole thing can be finished in three time segments if you know exactly where to walk.

Quick answer: Talk to the Armourer in Maragir, follow the path northeast into the highlighted forest until you find the picnic site with a corpse, loot the Small Knife, Bottle of Wine, Brencis’s Seal, and Recruitment Letter, then Compel Rovin’s soul using the knife, wine, and seal as catalysts. Follow the blood trail in Focus Mode, kill the wolves, inspect Lujeta’s body, and return to the Armourer.

The Armourer stands in Maragir, a village along the eastern edge of Vale Sangora. You will hear him talking to his son about his missing daughter before you can start the conversation yourself.

Do your shopping in Maragir before you finish the quest

This is the part that catches people out. Once you deliver the news about his daughter, the Armourer collapses in grief and his shop closes for a long stretch of in-game time. If you plan to sell loot or buy gear from him, do it before you walk back into the village with the bad news.

Note: If the option to volunteer doesn’t appear when you speak to him, come back during the day while Coen is human.

Where to find the picnic site in the forest northeast of Maragir

Speak to the Armourer and ask what is troubling him. He explains that his daughter went northeast to pick berries and never came back, and he suspects a boy is involved. Agree to look for her to open the quest.
Open your map and select the search zone. The game does not put a pin on the daughter, it just highlights a large yellow circle northeast of the village that you have to comb through yourself.

Selecting the search zone on the map highlights the full area you need to cover northeast of the village.
Take the small trail that leads out of the village to the right of the Armourer’s shop and head toward the tower to the northeast. Hills and dense trees make wandering off the path slow, and there are wolves and a bear roaming the area.
Stay on the path until you spot what looks like a small picnic on the left side, roughly in the middle of the search circle. There is a log, a scatter of belongings, and a dead body. Reaching it consumes two time segments.

Loot the site and compel Rovin’s soul with the right catalysts

Pick up everything on the ground before you touch the corpse. You are looking for the Small Knife, the Bottle of Wine, Brencis’s Seal, and the Recruitment Letter, which is tucked inside the sack.
Enter Focus Mode, interact with the body, and use Compel Soul on it. The corpse belongs to Rovin of Maragir, and the conversation only goes so far without evidence in hand.
Present the knife, the wine, and Brencis’s Seal as catalysts during the exchange. Rovin admits he met Lujeta there to tell her he was leaving to join Brencis’s army, and that she killed him for it before disappearing into the trees.

Follow the blood trail and clear the wolves

Stay in Focus Mode and look for the highlighted blood and footprints. The trail crosses the path and runs south-southeast, deeper into the woods.

The objective switches to following the blood trail once Rovin’s soul has given up the story.
The trail ends at Lujeta’s body, surrounded by wolves feeding on it. Kill them before you can do anything else, then loot the corpse.

With the wolves dealt with, the loot prompt appears over Lujeta’s body.
Inspect the body properly. The scratches on her face, the torn dress, and the defensive wounds from Rovin all register, and you recover a bloodied letter, the Manumit Orders.

What the Manumit Orders letter reveals

The letter confirms Lujeta was working for the manumits, the rebel group opposing the Vrakhiri. Rovin was on his way to becoming a recruit in Brencis’s army, and when he told her, she killed him. She then bled out from the wounds he gave her defending himself, which is why the trail was so easy to follow, and the wolves found her before you did.

Return to the armourer and choose what to tell him

Head back to Maragir Crossroads. The objective marker updates to point at the Armourer, and the return trip costs one more time segment.

The final objective points back to Maragir, with a shortcut to open the journal entry.
Tell him his daughter is dead. You can lay out everything you learned about her rebel ties and the killing, or spare him the details and leave him only with the death itself. Either choice closes the quest.

You will know it worked when the reward screen appears with 100 Denarii, a skill point, XP, and the Recipe for Minor Vitality Balm, and the Armourer breaks down in front of you. His shop stays shuttered afterward.

If the quest won’t start or the trail won’t appear

There are only a few reasons this quest stalls, and none of them are bugs.

  • You haven’t finished “Smoke and Ashes” yet, which gates the quest entirely.
  • You approached the Armourer at night, so the option to help is not offered. Return in daylight as human.
  • You interacted with Rovin’s corpse before collecting the knife, wine, and seal, leaving you without the catalysts needed to pull the full story out of him.
  • You are out of Focus Mode. The blood trail and the footprints are invisible without it.

Star-Crossed Lovers is worth running early in Maragir Wealds. Three time segments for a skill point and 100 Denarii is a good trade in a game that charges you days for everything, just make sure the Armourer has sold you what you need before you knock on his door for the last time.
