The Blood of Dawnwalker: Star-Crossed Lovers Full Quest Walkthrough

Track down the Armourer's missing daughter in the Maragir woods, uncover what really happened, and collect every reward.

Track down the Armourer’s missing daughter in the Maragir woods, uncover what really happened, and collect every reward.

Star-Crossed Lovers is one of the short side quests tucked into the Maragir Wealds in The Blood of Dawnwalker, and it hides a nastier story than the setup suggests. An Armourer sends you into the forest to look for his daughter, Lujeta, and what you find out there is a murder scene with the roles reversed from what you would expect.

Quick answer: Speak to the Armourer in Maragir, search the highlighted forest area to the northeast, loot the Small Knife, Bottle of Wine, Brencis’s Seal, and Recruitment Letter at the picnic site, then Compel Soul on Rovin’s corpse using all three items as catalysts. Follow the blood trail with Focus Mode, kill the wolves, inspect Lujeta’s body, and return to the Armourer.

Start the quest with the Armourer in Maragir

Walk past the Armourer’s shop in Maragir, on the eastern side of the map. You will overhear him arguing with his son about a daughter who has not come home.
Talk to him and ask what is wrong. He explains that Lujeta went northeast to pick berries and never returned, and he suspects a boy is involved. Offer to look for her to start the quest.
Open the map. A search radius appears northeast of the settlement rather than a single marker, and selecting it highlights the full area you need to comb through.

If the option to volunteer never appears in dialogue, come back during the day while Coen is in his human form.

Search the forest northeast of Maragir

The search zone is large, hilly, and thick with trees, which makes wandering it a waste of time segments. There is a much faster route.

Take the small trail that runs past the right side of the Armourer’s shop and leads out of the settlement toward the tower to the northeast. Stay on it rather than cutting into the woods.

Watch for wolves and a bear roaming the area on the way in. Entering the search zone spends two time segments, so deal with anything that jumps you rather than kiting it around the woods.
Keep following the path until you spot what looks like a small picnic laid out on the left, roughly in the middle of the zone. There is a corpse next to a log, and blood spattered across the ground.

Loot the catalysts and Compel Soul on Rovin’s corpse

Grab everything on the ground before you touch the body. The items double as catalysts for the Compel Soul witchcraft ability, and each one pulls a different piece of the story out of the dead man.

Pick up the Small Knife and the Bottle of Wine from the picnic spot, then loot the sack for the Recruitment Letter and Brencis’s Seal.
Use Focus Mode to inspect the area, then interact with the corpse and cast Compel Soul on it. The body belongs to Rovin of Maragir.
Work through the conversation using the Small Knife, the Bottle of Wine, and Brencis’s Seal as catalysts, one after another. Rovin explains that he met Lujeta here to tell her he was leaving to join Brencis’s forces, and that she killed him for it before walking off into the trees.

Follow the blood trail and inspect the girl’s body

Activate Focus Mode again. The yellow-highlighted trail crosses the path and runs south-southeast, deeper into the woods, and it is easy to track because of how much blood Lujeta was losing.

The trail ends at a pack of wolves feeding on a corpse. Clear them out before you can interact with anything.
Inspect Lujeta’s body. You will find scratches on her face, a torn dress, and a bloodstained letter titled Manumit Orders, which confirms she was working for the manumit rebels and had run into a fresh Brencis recruit.

With both bodies examined, the sequence is clear. Lujeta killed Rovin when he told her where he was going, took wounds doing it, and bled out in the forest before she could get home.

Return to the Armourer and choose what to tell him

Head back to Maragir Crossroads and speak to the Armourer. The trip costs one more time segment.
Tell him his daughter is dead. You can either lay out what she was mixed up in or spare him the details, and sparing him is the kinder option since it changes nothing about the rewards.
Watch him collapse in grief. The quest closes out and his shop stays shuttered for a long while afterward.

How to confirm the quest completed

Star-Crossed Lovers disappears from your active journal entries and the reward payout lands right after the final conversation, with 100 Denarii, one Skill Point, the Recipe for Minor Vitality Balm, and 100 XP. The clearest world-state confirmation is the Armourer’s shop being closed the next time you pass it.

If the quest stalls, there are only a few likely causes. The Armourer will not offer the job until Smoke and Ashes is finished, the dialogue prompt requires Coen in human form, and the blood trail will not appear unless you have inspected the picnic area with Focus Mode first. Skipping the Compel Soul conversation entirely leaves the outcome unresolved, and Coen never learns what actually happened out there.
