Marvel Rivals Season 10, titled Butcher’s Blasphemy, brings Gorr the God Butcher into the roster as the game’s 54th playable hero. Unlike previous seasons, this update ships with only one new character. The rest of the update focuses on a new map, returning events, a reworked competitive ban system, and balance changes that touch most of the cast.

Gorr the God Butcher: role and kit
Gorr joins as a melee-focused Duelist. He wields the shape-shifting All-Black Necrosword and also carries a scythe, which gives him extra reach in a fight. The Necrosword lets him move quickly across the battlefield, which he does through an ability called Symbiote Assimilation.
His signature mechanic is summoning Black Berserkers. Gorr executes enemies and absorbs their flesh to create these minions, which then fight for him as independent, AI-controlled units, similar to how Magik’s minions work. His ultimate ability empowers the Necrosword for a short window, letting him deal very high damage before it fades.
Gorr’s arrival closes out the Season 9 story thread involving the Necrosword and the on-screen deaths of Apocalypse and Khonshu. In the launch cinematic, Gorr defeats Loki, which explains why Loki was pulled from Quick Play and Practice vs. AI ahead of the season. A single feather falling onto Loki at the end hints he may return later.
God Quarry map
A new Domination map called God Quarry launches on September 24, 2026. It is described as a graveyard of gods and ties directly into the season’s story, since Gorr plans to bring his faith-harvesting engine there to wipe out every god at once. The Yggsgard map has also been rendered in black and white to signal Gorr’s presence in the game.
Events and new costumes
Season 10 rolls out a set of Pajama Party costumes for several heroes, including Daredevil, Rogue, Jeff the Land Shark, Mantis, Cloak and Dagger, Magneto, Luna Snow, and Jubilee. Two Jeff-themed events, Jeff’s Dream Eater and Jeff’s Superstar Seeking, are also planned. Jeff’s Dream Eater follows the September 17 update and grants matching costumes and other cosmetic rewards.
The fan-favorite Galacta’s Gift event returns on September 24. Players earn a new exchange coin, called the Costume Coin, by taking part, and additional skins are being added to the exchange store. That gives you another way to unlock a skin for free during the season.
Path to Doomsday and Season 10.5
The developers chose to ship only one hero this season so they could focus on Phases 3 and 4 of the Path to Doomsday event. Those phases arrive in Season 10.5 next month as two brand-new game modes based on Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, released consecutively rather than alongside a second new hero. Two new heroes are lined up for Season 11.
Balance changes: buffs and nerfs
Balance adjustments hit roughly 70% of the roster. The table below groups the main heroes by whether they are getting stronger or weaker across the three roles.

Every Strategist also shares a global change to how ultimate energy is generated. Healing-to-energy conversion drops from 70% to 65%, and damage-to-energy conversion drops from 55% to 50%.
Scarlet Witch rework
Scarlet Witch receives the biggest overhaul. She gains a new ability, Scarlet Hex, which sends a magic shockwave through a 20m by 8m area in front of her, dealing 40 damage and applying a Chaos Mark. A new passive converts 25% of the damage she deals to marked enemies into Bonus Health, up to a cap of 50. Her ultimate, Reality Erasure, now deals continuous damage during the wind-up, scaling from 50 to 80 over four seconds.
Black Cat rework
Black Cat trades pure invincibility for survivability. Phantom Pursuit no longer grants invincibility and instead gives 50% Damage Reduction plus Unstoppable while casting. Her Fortune costs are lower, Helmet of Hades lasts longer, and she is now more visible because her movement trail shows during Helmet of Hades and her footstep sounds are louder.
Competitive ban rules rework
Competitive Mode drops simultaneous double bans. Instead, teams take turns banning and revealing heroes using a voting system. Once a hero is banned, that hero is unavailable to both teams for the rest of the match, and the same hero cannot be banned twice. The ban system applies to players ranked Gold III and above.
The ban order runs as follows:
- Team A bans one hero, which is revealed.
- Team B bans two heroes, which are revealed.
- Team A bans two heroes, which are revealed.
- Team B bans one hero, which is revealed.
Rank reset and Battle Pass
As a full season, Season 10 applies a six-division rank drop, which equals two full tiers. If you finished Season 9.5 in Diamond III, you start Season 10 in Gold III. End-of-season rewards are tied to your peak rank rather than your current one, so reaching a tier once secures its reward even if you fall below it later. A new Battle Pass with free and premium rewards also launches alongside the season.
Marvel Rivals is free-to-play and available on PC, PS5, PS4, and Xbox Series X/S, with a Nintendo Switch 2 version in development. Once maintenance ends and you log back in, Gorr will be selectable and your competitive rank will show the reset, confirming Season 10 is live.
