The fourth paid expansion is targeting a late 2026 launch, with Jack Sparrow, mermaid swimming, and new biomes on the way.

The Keepsake Sea is the fourth major paid expansion for Disney Dreamlight Valley, built around a seafaring theme that adds Captain Jack Sparrow and the ability to swim underwater as a mermaid. It was revealed on August 14, 2026, and it is aiming to arrive before the end of the year.

Quick answer: No exact release date is confirmed yet. Gameloft has set a late 2026 launch window and scheduled a detailed gameplay showcase for October, which points to a release in October or November.

The Keepsake Sea release status and window

Current status: Window. The expansion has been officially announced, but a specific launch date and pricing have not been shared. Gameloft describes it as targeting a late 2026 release, and a dedicated gameplay showcase stream is planned for October to reveal fuller details.

The content roadmap places the paid expansion in November, after the October showcase. Based on that timing and the cadence of past expansions, an October or November launch is the most likely outcome. If the showcase confirms an exact date, that is when the countdown becomes reliable.

Where The Keepsake Sea fits in the 2026 roadmap

The expansion is the headline item in a run of late-year updates. Several free additions arrive around it, so the schedule helps set expectations for when the paid content lands.

Confirmed characters and Jack Sparrow

Only one character is confirmed so far: Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean. The reveal teaser did not show him directly, ending instead with his shadow cast across the sand.

Every main expansion released before this one has added roughly four to five characters, including at least one villain to anchor the central story. That pattern suggests The Keepsake Sea will bring several more villagers alongside Jack Sparrow, though no other names have been confirmed. Any additional cast has not been announced.

New features and gameplay in The Keepsake Sea

The standout confirmed feature is the ability to swim underwater as a mermaid, shown in the first teaser. Past expansions have each introduced a major gameplay system, similar to how horses arrived with Wishblossom Ranch, and mermaid swimming appears to be that central addition here.

Beyond the mermaid transformation, the expansion is expected to bring fresh content across most areas of the game, in line with how previous major DLCs have been structured.

  • New characters to befriend, likely several new villagers based on past expansions.
  • New explorable land, expected to feature multiple regions with distinct biomes and themes.
  • New Critter Companions, with underwater creatures being the natural fit for the setting.
  • New items spanning cooking ingredients, gems, clothing, furniture, fish, seafood, and crops.

Note: The mermaid swimming ability and Jack Sparrow are the only officially confirmed elements. The rest of the specifics, including new locations, tools, quests, and companions, are expected to be detailed during the October showcase.

Platforms and how to prepare

Like the first three expansions, The Keepsake Sea will be available on the latest two generations of Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo consoles, as well as iOS devices. Disney Dreamlight Valley itself launched in December 2023 and can be played on PC, Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and mobile.

If you want to lean into the pirate theme early, the game has carried Pirates of the Caribbean furniture since update 1.7. Items such as the Chalice of Cartagena, Cortés Chest, Fountain of Youth, Mao Kun Map Table, and Pirate Ship Chandelier are already available for decorating ahead of Jack Sparrow’s arrival.

Until the October showcase locks in a date, treat the November target as a window rather than a fixed launch. Watch for the developer stream, since that is where the confirmed release date, price, and full feature list are expected to be announced.
