The Blood of Dawnwalker: The Good Samaritan Quest Walkthrough

The Good Samaritan starts as a simple errand. A medic in Svartrau City hands you a bundle of medicaments and asks you to walk them out to a farm south of the city. Nobody is alive to take delivery, and working out why is the actual quest.

Quick answer: Talk to the Svartrau Medic during the day after finishing A Study in Crimson, travel south to The Silts farm, use Focus Mode and Compel Soul on the dead woman in the cabin with the Farmer’s Sword and Wedding Headband as catalysts, follow the tracks to the wheat field, kill the wolves, inspect the daughter’s body for the note, then return to the medic in daylight.

The Good Samaritan requirements, timing, and rewards

This is a side quest tied to Vicho’s questline, and it will not appear in your journal until the previous step is done. It runs in daylight only, and it can be lost entirely if the 30-day clock runs out before you get to it.

Note: the medic only appears at his shop during daytime periods, so both the hand-in and the pickup have to happen in daylight. The investigation itself works at any hour.

Picking up the quest from the Svartrau Medic

The quest marker shows up at a medic’s shop in the southeastern part of Svartrau City, in the next daytime period after A Study in Crimson wraps up. If you read the letter you pulled from Simeon’s lockbox, you already know the name attached to the farm: Ivo.

Speak to the medic and agree to make the delivery. That places the objective “Take medicaments to the farm outside Svartrau” in your journal and puts a marker south of the city.

Getting to The Silts farm south of Svartrau

Open the map and track The Good Samaritan so the compass marker stays on screen. Head for the nearest shrine inside Svartrau City.

Fast travel to Svartrau South. This drops you far closer to the farm than running the whole way and saves you a long overland trip.

From the Svartrau South shrine, run south through the forest and follow the distance counter on the objective marker until you reach the farm known as The Silts.

Do not bother knocking. Sweep the yard with Focus Mode as soon as you arrive and bodies will light up around the property.

Using Compel Soul in the cabin with both catalysts

The woman’s body inside the farmhouse is the anchor for the whole investigation. Compel Soul can be used on her more than once, and each catalyst you feed it pulls out a different piece of the night the family died.

Enter the cabin and look around with Focus Mode active. There is a large amount of blood and one body. Use Compel Soul on the dead woman for the first vision.

Loot the Farmer’s Sword from the sack inside the cabin, then use it as a catalyst and compel the woman’s soul a second time.

Head back outside and follow the tracks. A wolf is feeding on the husband’s body. Kill it, then loot the Wedding Headband from the corpse.

Carry the headband back into the cabin and use it as the third catalyst on the woman. This vision confirms someone got out of the house alive and updates the objective to “Find the missing body using Focus Mode”.

Finding the missing body in the wheat field

The survivor is the daughter, and she did not make it far. Her body is the single mandatory investigation point in the quest, sitting in the field to the southwest of the buildings with wolves circling it.

Turn on Focus Mode and follow the highlighted trail leading away from the farm buildings toward the wheat field.

Clear the wolves guarding the corpse before you try to interact with anything. There are two to three of them depending on how you approach.

Inspect the body to pick up the note titled “A WARNING”. This is the confirmation that the step worked — the objective closes out, the bronze trophy The Unquenchable Thirst pops, and the journal switches to “Return to the medic”.

Returning to the medic to complete the quest

Run to the nearest shrine, fast travel back into Svartrau City, and speak to the medic during a daytime period. Coen reports what he found at the farm, and the quest closes with the medicaments and 25 denarii for the trip.

The quest can also resolve without any of the investigation. If you simply drop the package off with nobody there to receive it and go back, you get the clean delivery ending and none of the answers. Working the farm properly instead produces the darker outcome, where you learn who actually killed the family.

Why The Good Samaritan does not appear or fails

There are only a few reasons this quest goes missing, and all of them are timing problems rather than bugs.

A Study in Crimson is not finished. The medic has nothing to offer until Doctor Simeon is dealt with.
It is night. The quest is day-only, and the medic will not be at his shop to give or receive it.
You waited a full period after A Study in Crimson without visiting. The offer opens in the next daytime period, not immediately.
The 30-day coronation deadline expired. The quest is flagged missable and disappears with the clock.

Finishing the investigation is what unlocks the next confrontation. Once the note is in your inventory and the medic has been told, go back to Vicho’s emporium after dark for Unquenchable Thirst, where your dialogue choices decide whether he survives what he learns about himself. Save before you knock.
