The trail toward Combat V2 starts with a single NPC in the First Sea. The Secrets Master sits on a balcony in Middle Town and, once you meet a strict pair of requirements, offers a dialogue option that names three islands. Visiting those islands and coming back is the first phase of the chain, and it is the only part players can currently complete.
Quick answer: Hit the max level cap with 3-star secret completion on every First Sea island, speak to the Secrets Master on the Middle Town balcony, choose “Tell me some stories,” then teleport to each of the three islands he names and return to Middle Town. The first step is done when the “Tell me some stories” option no longer appears in his dialogue.
Requirements before the Secrets Master offers the story dialogue
Two conditions gate the whole thing, and neither can be skipped. You need the level cap, and you need full secret completion across the First Sea — not a few islands, all of them.
| Requirement | What it means |
|---|---|
| Max level | The level cap, shown as Lv. 2995 in the current build |
| Island secrets | 3-star secret completion on every First Sea island |
| Island teleporter | Unlocks on an island only after you finish all of that island’s secret quests |
| Location | Middle Town, First Sea |
Open your menu and check the map before you make the trip. Each First Sea island shows its secret progress as stars, and anything short of three stars on a single island is enough to keep the story option hidden. Secret quests also award 5 levels each, which is how players push past the normal cap.

The NPC is not on the street. Head into Middle Town and walk toward the large building with the green roof near the center of the island.

Once you reach the building, climb to the second-story balcony. The Secrets Master stands out there, and you will need to get up to that level rather than talking from the ground.

Visiting the three islands and returning to Middle Town

How to confirm the first step is complete
Go back to the balcony and talk to the Secrets Master one more time. If the visits registered, “Tell me some stories” is gone from his dialogue list, and his remaining lines shift — he acknowledges that you seem trustworthy and offers a different secret, such as the line about the Emperor never being able to spare or condemn gladiators in the Colosseum because nobody has thumbs.
That missing option is the confirmation. There is no quest tracker entry, no item, and no reward popup tied to this phase.
Why the story option might not show up
- You are below the level cap.
- At least one First Sea island is not at 3-star secret completion.
- An island’s teleporter is still locked, which means its secret quests are unfinished.
- You already used the option and completed the three visits, in which case it is meant to be gone.
What is confirmed about Combat V2 right now
The Secrets Master was added to Sea 1 and is described in the update log as keeping a special secret of his own, which is the strongest signal that this chain leads somewhere. The same set of changes made secret quests award 5 levels correctly and tied island teleporters to full secret completion.
Beyond that, the quest is not fully implemented. Finishing the three-island run does not currently grant a new fighting style, and no follow-up step has been made available. Combat itself remains the two-move starter style every player begins with — an M1 punch string, [Z] Quick Tackle at 1 mastery, and [X] Ground Smash at 20 mastery — and it still cannot be relearned once you swap to another style.
Note: because Combat is permanently lost the moment you buy Dark Step, Electric, or Water Kung Fu, anyone hoping to be ready for a future Combat upgrade would need an account that never switched melee. There is no confirmed date for the rest of the chain going live.
For now, the practical takeaway is narrow. Clear every First Sea secret, cap your level, pull the three clues from the Secrets Master, and tick the islands off. That leaves you sitting exactly where the chain currently ends, with nothing left to grind when the next part arrives.
