Sword choice in Legacy Piece decides how fast you clear bosses and how well you hold up in PvP. The roster has grown quickly across recent updates, and the newer additions have pushed several older blades out of the meta entirely. What follows is a full ranking of the game’s weapons as they stand in September 2026, reflecting the Update 1.9 roster.
Quick answer: Undyne is the strongest weapon in Legacy Piece right now. If you cannot get it, Solemn Lament, True Zangetsu (Bankai), White Reaper, and Acherin are all close enough to carry endgame content.

Rankings weigh raw damage and burst most heavily, followed by utility such as buffs, defense penetration and uptime, then reach, crowd control and mobility. Ease of obtaining a weapon is not part of the score.
Why Undyne sits alone at the top
The base version of Undyne is already competitive with the rest of the meta blades. What separates it is Undying Determination mode, which unlocks large nuke attacks while boosting both damage output and damage reduction at the same time.
That damage reduction matters most in PvP, where surviving a rotation is often what decides the fight. Undyne’s moves also cast quickly, particularly the spear summons, so you lose very little time to animation lock. No other weapon in the game covers offense and survivability that broadly.
S-tier swords: the meta pool
These four are the safe endgame targets. Any of them will keep pace with the game’s strongest styles and abilities, and the ordering between them shifts depending on whether you are running bosses or fighting players.

A-tier swords: strong damage and support value
Geburo has been powercrept on raw numbers, but it still hits hard through the mid-to-late game. Its real value now is as a support weapon, since the passive damage buffs and lifesteal effect feed into whatever your main damage source is.
Chihora follows the same pattern. The damage is respectable sub-meta output, and the Enten buff makes it a useful off-weapon to swap into a rotation for a group-wide damage increase.
Cursed Love cannot match top styles and abilities on damage, but measured against other swords it holds its own. The Rika Zone buffs your Z, X and C moves, which gives the weapon a clear rhythm to play around.
B-tier swords: usable but off-meta
Nothing here is bad. These four just fall short of the pool above once you reach endgame content.

C and D tier: what to replace and when
First Espada and Thunder both suffer from the same problem. They carry fewer moves than newer weapons, so their damage per rotation cannot keep up no matter how well you play them. Treat both as transitional.
D tier is the starter shelf. Base Zangetsu (Shikai), Night Blade, Ace, and Saber cover early progression, alongside the basic pickups like Katana, Iron Mace, Cutlass, Hook, and Dual Cutlass. Buggy’s Knives and Flintlock sit just above those as slightly better early options. Swap out of all of them as soon as a B-tier weapon becomes available.
Picking a weapon for your build
Swords do not exist in isolation in Legacy Piece. A weapon that is a tier lower on paper can outperform a higher pick if it patches a hole in your loadout. If your style and ability already deal heavy damage, a support blade like The Black Knight, Geburo, or Chihora often adds more total output than a pure DPS sword.
Note: a weapon you know well beats one you do not. White Reaper’s jump move and Acherin’s mobility both reward practice, and either can outdamage a higher-ranked sword in unfamiliar hands.
