Weapon blueprints in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 DMZ are attached to your account, not lying around in Hajin. A blueprint is a finished build of a gun: a named variant with its attachments already fitted. You turn it into a usable weapon at the Gunsmith, and the first copy costs you nothing.

Quick answer: At the FOB, go to GUNSMITH, then BUY NEW WEAPON, pick the gun, open its BUILDS column, and buy the blueprint from the BLUEPRINTS tab. The first copy shows “Free”; PURCHASE BLUEPRINT sends it straight to your stash.

Where to find the Gunsmith in DMZ

The Gunsmith is the weapons bench at the FOB, beside the firing range area. Walk up to it and use the “GUNSMITH” interact prompt, or open it from the DMZ side menu. It unlocks at DMZ Level 10.

The bench screen splits your guns into two lists, EQUIPPED ON OPERATOR and STASH WEAPONS, with BUY NEW WEAPON sitting above both. Your bank balance and its cap appear at the top of the Gunsmith screens, shown as something like BANK $41,950 / $1M.

How to claim a weapon blueprint at the Gunsmith

Open GUNSMITH at the FOB and select BUY NEW WEAPON. This opens the weapon list, sorted by category.
Pick the tab for the weapon’s category. The options are ASSAULT RIFLES, SMGS, SHOTGUNS, LMGS, MARKSMAN RIFLES, SNIPER RIFLES, PISTOLS, LAUNCHERS and MELEE.
Find the narrow column on the right edge of the weapon’s tile. The number next to the blueprint symbol is how many blueprints you own for that gun, and highlighting the column shows the label BUILDS. The M4 tile reads 1 above 3, for example, and the HAN 86 tile reads 1 above 1.
Select the BUILDS column. A builds screen opens with a title such as “M4 BUILDS” or “HAN 86 BUILDS” and three tabs, BLUEPRINTS, SAVED and STORE. Each tab label carries a count, so the M4 shows BLUEPRINTS[1], SAVED[0] and STORE[3].
Stay on the BLUEPRINTS tab and highlight the blueprint you want. On your first claim, the BUILD COST line shows the full price crossed out next to “Free”. For the M4’s Inner Circuit, that is $88,875 struck through.
Choose one of the two purchase buttons. PURCHASE BLUEPRINT & GO TO GUNSMITH puts the build on the bench, while PURCHASE BLUEPRINT sends it straight to your stash.
Open STASH/LOADOUT and equip the new weapon to bring it into a deployment. It appears under its own name as a single weapon.

You know the claim worked when a “PURCHASED TO STASH” notice pops up with the blueprint’s name and rarity, such as “EPIC Beta Forged”. In the stash, the Inner Circuit is listed as INNER CIRCUIT, ASSAULT RIFLE, $10,000, LEGENDARY, with the options EQUIP, GUNSMITH, EQUIP SECONDARY and SELL $10000.

Blueprint build cost after the free copy

Once you’ve claimed a blueprint, its BUILD COST on the BLUEPRINTS tab goes back to the full figure. Lose the gun in Hajin and you’ll pay that amount in DMZ Cash to buy the same build again.

BlueprintWeaponRe-buy BUILD COST
Inner CircuitM4$88,875
Beta ForgedHAN 86$88,312

If your bank can’t cover it, both purchase buttons change to INSUFFICIENT FUNDS.

For scale, a bare HAN 86 bought as a base weapon has a BUILD COST of $5,700 with ATTACHMENTS 0/5. Filling those five slots by hand with a 60 ROUND DRUM magazine, FSS FIRELINE GRIP, XRK MIL-TAC SUPPRESSOR, HANBIT LIGHTNING-7 barrel and XRK CLUTCH-LS laser brings that build to $135,375.

Weapon blueprint vs. Weapon Manual

The two are easy to mix up, but they unlock different things. A Weapon Manual is loot from containers in Hajin, and you have to extract with it. Its card, for example “MANUAL: VEL 46”, carries the type line WEAPON MANUAL, a $5000 value, and the text “Unlocks ability to purchase this weapon in Gunsmith.” That opens up the plain base weapon for purchase.

A base weapon without its manual shows a padlock on its tile along with the line “EXTRACT THIS WEAPON’S MANUAL TO UNLOCK IT. MORE OFTEN FOUND IN MILITARY CONTAINERS AND SAFES.” That lock doesn’t block blueprints. The M4 base weapon can still be padlocked while its Inner Circuit blueprint is claimable for free from the BLUEPRINTS tab.

STORE tab blueprints

The STORE tab on a builds screen lists blueprints for that gun you don’t own. Each one carries a padlock and its BUILD COST, and locked store blueprints can’t be claimed from the bench. On the M4, the tab shows three:

  • FORGED RESOLVE: $93,937
  • 141: $54,750
  • 141 PRIME: $54,750

Where owned blueprints come from

Blueprints on your BLUEPRINTS tab come with your account rather than from anything you pick up in a match. Inner Circuit for the M4 is a pre-order reward, and Beta Forged for the HAN 86 is a beta reward. The Vault Edition’s Signature Weapon Collection adds 5 blueprints.
