The Adventurer standing in the middle of Jungle Island lost his hat to a monkey, and getting it back is one of the three Island Secrets tied to that island in Blox Fruits. It is also the least predictable of the three, because the thief hides in a random tree and only shows itself once the game decides to leave a trail of footprints behind. Everything else about the quest is fixed and repeatable.
Quick answer: Talk to the Adventurer on Jungle Island, pick the Rumor dialogue until he says a monkey stole his hat, then search the medium and large trees for footprints at the base. Punch that tree with fighting style M1s until the Thieving Monkey falls out, defeat it, pick up the Adventurer’s Hat on the ground, and hand it back to the Adventurer.
Trigger the quest through the Adventurer’s Rumor dialogue
The Adventurer is the quest NPC near the bridge at the center of Jungle Island, marked with the usual yellow question mark. He offers the standard Monkeys, Gorillas, and Gorilla King quests, but the secret sits behind a separate Rumor option.

The Thieving Monkey does not use a fixed spawn point. Instead, a set of footprints appears on the grass leading toward one of the island’s medium or large trees, and that trail is the only marker you get. Expect to spend roughly 20 to 30 minutes on the island before they show up, and expect to circle a few trees before you spot the right one.
Both halves of the island count, so include the smaller section where the Gorillas and the Gorilla King live. Small trees and bushes are not valid targets. Some players also receive an on-screen notification about suspicious steps underneath a tree, which points you straight to the spot.

Tip: Because the wait is unspecified rather than a visible timer, farming Monkeys or Gorillas nearby is the efficient way to burn the clock. You get quest progress and levels while the footprints tick toward spawning.

Shake the tree and defeat the Thieving Monkey
The tree only reacts to basic fighting style attacks. Swap off your sword and off your fruit before you start swinging, or nothing will happen.

Return the hat and confirm the star registered
Fly or run back to the Adventurer in the middle of the island and speak to him. Choose Return the hat, then close out the conversation. The quest completes on the spot, paying out EXP and one of the island’s three stars.
A completed secret grants five levels and pushes your level cap up by five. With all 40 secrets across the First Sea done, that adds up to 200 secret levels. Clearing all three Jungle secrets also unlocks Jungle as a destination on the teleporter inside the central building in Middle Town.
Note: There is a known bug where the NPC hands over only two of the five levels. If your level jumps by less than five, keep talking to the Adventurer until the rest come through. Leaving the server before that happens forfeits them permanently.
Why the Thieving Monkey quest does not trigger
- The Rumor dialogue is not currently pointing at the stolen hat, so the footprints will never spawn for you on that server.
- Not enough time has passed on the island. The footprints commonly need 20 minutes or more to appear.
- You are hitting small trees or scenery. Only the medium and large trees can hide the monkey.
- You are using fruit abilities or sword moves on the trunk instead of fighting style M1s.
- Another player already claimed the spawn. Certain Island Secrets only credit one player per spawn, so hop to a fresh server and start again.

Of the three Jungle secrets, this is the one that will eat your time rather than test your build. The zipline repair and the awakened Gorilla King fight both have clear triggers, while the hat comes down to patience and a lot of walking between trees. If the footprints refuse to appear, server hopping resets the search and is usually quicker than waiting one out.
