Wardogs: How to Repair a Vehicle With the Wrench

The Wrench costs $150 at the Equipment Vendor, needs a backpack to carry, and pays Support XP every time you patch a vehicle.

Vehicles in Wardogs take damage fast. Clip a tree at speed, eat a burst of machine gun fire, or drop a helicopter a little too hard, and the durability readout on your HUD starts falling. The fix is a single cheap tool you buy before you ever leave base.

Quick answer: Buy a Wrench for $150 from the Equipment Vendor under Items > Vehicle, add it to a quick slot, then walk up to the damaged vehicle and hold left-click on each white wrench icon until the part is fixed.

What you need before you can repair a vehicle

Two purchases gate the whole thing. The Wrench itself is the repair tool, and a backpack is what lets you actually carry it. If you try to buy the Wrench with no backpack equipped, you have nowhere to put it.

Wrench$150Manually repairs all vehicles

The Wrench’s vendor card spells out what it does. It is listed as a repair tool that sits in a quick slot, it covers the chassis, wheels and engine, it has a slow repair speed, and it rewards Support XP. Slow repair speed is the part people underestimate — you are holding the button for a while, standing still, out in the open.

Note: the repair tool runs on batteries, so carry a spare if you plan to keep a truck or helicopter alive across a long match.

Buy the Wrench from the Equipment Vendor

Head to the Equipment Vendor at your base and interact with it. This is the loadout vendor, not the vehicle vendor, so ignore the Land and Air tabs you use for buying trucks and helicopters.

Buy a backpack if you are not already wearing one. The Scout Backpack runs $350 and is enough to hold the Wrench alongside a normal kit.
Open the Items tab and drop into the Vehicle sub-category. The Wrench sits in there at $150, tagged as a repair tool for a quick slot.
Select Add to Loadout so the Wrench is assigned to a quick slot. While you are here, a Fuel Can is worth grabbing too, because a repaired vehicle with an empty tank is still stranded.

Repair a damaged vehicle in the field

Damage shows up in two places. The durability readout on the vehicle HUD drops, and white circular icons with a wrench symbol appear on the specific parts that are broken — typically the hood over the engine and any damaged wheel.

Stop the vehicle somewhere with cover and get out. You cannot repair from the driver’s seat, and the repair speed is slow enough that a roadside stop in the open is a real risk.
Equip the Wrench from its quick slot. The tool goes into your hands like any other item.
Walk up to a wrench icon on the bodywork and look directly at it. Each icon marks one damaged component, so a wrecked front end plus a shredded tyre means two separate icons.
Hold left-click and keep holding it until the icon clears. Releasing early stops the repair, and with slow repair speed you will need to commit to the full hold.
Move to the next icon and repeat until none are left. Then get back in and check the durability bar before driving off.

How to confirm the repair worked

You get three confirmations at once. The wrench icon disappears from the part you were working on, a repaired vehicle notification fires, and the durability value climbs back up on the HUD when you re-enter the driver’s seat.

There is a payout attached as well. Repairing vehicles rewards Support XP, and vehicle maintenance work feeds cash and XP back to you — which makes carrying a Wrench one of the cheaper ways to earn without shooting anyone.

Why a repair fails to start

  • No backpack equipped, so the Wrench never made it into your loadout at the vendor.
  • You are standing too far from the icon, or looking at bodywork that is not actually damaged.
  • You released left-click before the hold finished, which cancels progress on that part.
  • The tool’s batteries are spent, which is why a spare is worth the slot.
  • The vehicle is on its roof or side. Flip it back upright first, then work the icons.

Repairs you can make without a Wrench

The Wrench is the portable option, but it is not the only one. Your base has a repair area that patches a vehicle automatically once it is parked there, which is the fastest fix if you are already close to home and can limp back.

The satellite dish case matters most. The team spawn vehicle that arrives once any team hits 20 points lets your whole squad spawn on it wherever it is parked, and the dish on its roof is the weak point. Knock it out and the vehicle stops working until someone repairs it, so a teammate with a repair tool nearby is effectively an insurance policy on your team’s forward spawn.

Fuel and ammo are separate problems from durability, and neither is refilled by the Wrench. Vehicle weapons are not always loaded when you buy the vehicle, so top up ammo at base before you roll out rather than finding out mid-fight.

At $150 the Wrench is the cheapest insurance in the game next to a $500 Bobcat, let alone a $14,000 L2A6. If you are spending real cash on a vehicle and planning to drive it more than once, the tool pays for itself the first time a wheel blows out somewhere that is not a five-minute walk from base.
