Leveling in SCROOMS comes down to two things, and the game spells it out in the main quest text: you gain experience by taming scrooms and by helping people out. There is no hidden third method. If you want your level number to climb quickly, you pour time into catching and you collect the big flat rewards that quests hand you.

Quick answer: Buy the permanent 1.5x Catch EXP pass for 99 Robux, then stand on the spawn lawn in Songkeeper’s Grove and catch scrooms back to back. With the pass, each level takes roughly six to seven minutes at levels 14 to 17.

How leveling works in SCROOMS

Every successful catch gives experience, no matter which scroom you land. A Common Toastbud counts, a Rare Burlcap counts, and so does anything in between. The only catch that pays nothing is a failed one, where the game tells you “Your Scroom got away…” The game never prints an XP number on a catch, so you cannot see whether a rarer scroom or a higher frequency is worth more. What you can measure is pace.

Your level sits in two places on screen: at the bottom right as “Level: N”, and above your character’s name. One catch runs about 34 seconds from the first click to the result, so your hourly climb depends almost entirely on how little you waste between catches. Without any boost, level 11 to 12 takes around 13 catches.

The exact location matters less than keeping up a steady pace of catches. On the spawn lawn in Songkeeper’s Grove, next to the signpost, Common and Uncommon scrooms are plentiful: Redcap, Toastbud, and Gloombell are among them, along with Bluebell, Bloomcap, and Acornub, plus Sunbrella and Mistdrop. Rare scrooms such as Burlcap or Dewleaf show up occasionally. With so many targets nearby, you can keep catching without roaming to find more.

The catching routine that sets the pace

The fastest grind is boring on purpose. You plant yourself in one spot and never stop playing songs. Here is the loop that keeps that pace up.

Equip your instrument in hotbar slot 1 and keep it out. The Tamer’s Guitar works fine for this. You want the instrument ready so there is no fumbling between catches.
Stand on the grass around the spawn signpost in Songkeeper’s Grove. Do not wander. The scrooms keep coming, so staying put removes all the travel time.
Start the next song the instant the catch message clears. Tune the frequency, drag the catch bar, and confirm. The moment “You caught: …” disappears, begin again.

With the catch boost active, that loop takes you from level 12 to level 14 in about 23 catches over 13 minutes, which is roughly 11 catches per level. From level 14 to level 18 expect about 40 catches across 25 minutes, with level 15 arriving at the one-minute mark, level 16 at eight minutes, level 17 at 15 minutes and level 18 at 24 minutes.

In all, level 12 to level 18 with the pass takes about 63 catches over 39 minutes.

Buy 1.5x Catch EXP for permanent faster leveling

One Store purchase speeds up everything you do with your instrument. The 1.5x Catch EXP pass gives 50 percent more experience from every catch, and once you own it the game tells you “1.5x Catch EXP is yours for good.” That means it is a one-time buy, not a timed buff. It is also the only Store item that touches experience. Server Luck changes your luck for 15 minutes, not your XP, so do not buy it expecting faster levels.

Select the shopping cart symbol in the screen’s lower-right corner to bring up the Store.

Scroll to the 1.5x Catch EXP card, priced at 99 Robux, and confirm the purchase.
Wait for the “Thank you!” popup confirming the perk is permanent. From that point on, every catch feeds more XP into your level with no further action needed.

Quests that pay big XP

Catching is the steady drip. Quests are the lump sums. They live in the Quest Log at hotbar slot 4, split into Main Quests and Side Quests, and each completed one drops a flat XP reward plus Chimes. Two of them are worth building your early game around.

Tamer in Training comes from Halden and simply asks you to reach level 25, so the catching grind completes it on its own. Beekeeper’s Request comes from Jones the beekeeper, and this one can stall your plans. It wants a Funglebee, which is a Wondrous scroom. Funglebees are hard to come by on the spawn lawn, so treat that reward as something to chip away at rather than a quick payout.

To find quest-givers, look for a green “?” floating above a character. That marker is how the game flags someone with a quest to hand out. Look for the green ‘?’ above characters who have a quest to give.

Keep catching while a quest like Beekeeper’s Request sits open. You are earning catch XP the whole time, and a Wondrous scroom can turn up during the grind rather than a separate hunt.

How to confirm your level is climbing

You know a catch counted when the “You caught: …” message shows and the Level number at the bottom right ticks up once you cross a threshold. The game does not display how much XP you need for the next level, so the catch count is your clearest gauge of progress. Watch that number rather than trying to track raw points.

Two achievements give you longer-term targets to aim at. Reaching level 50 unlocks the Seasoned Tamer title through the Seasoned Tamer achievement, and reaching level 100 unlocks the Living Legend title. Both are pure level milestones, so the same routine that gets you to 25 keeps paying off well past it.
