Mining is the one life skill in Grand Blue that feeds straight back into your combat power. Ore turns into crafted pickaxes, gear upgrades, and Gold, and the skill itself runs all the way to level 100 before you can rebirth it for tokens. The catch is that most players grind copper and iron for hours when a single ore type pays out several times more EXP per swing.
Quick answer: Farm Lead Ore behind the waterfall in Maple Village. Each Lead Ore node awards 70+ Mining EXP, which is the highest per-node payout currently available, and the nodes sit close enough together to loop continuously.
How mining EXP is awarded
You earn Mining EXP for every node you fully break, and the amount scales with the rarity of the ore. Common copper and iron pay very little. Rarer materials pay far more, which means the fastest route is always the one with the best ore you can physically reach, not the one closest to spawn.
Nodes show a percentage bar and damage numbers as you hit them, so you can see how close a rock is to breaking. EXP only lands when the bar completes — half-mined nodes give you nothing. Your Mining level and unlocked skills show in the Lifeskills panel alongside the Skill Tree, Milestones, and Rebirth tabs.

Add to Google Preferences →All mining spots and which one to farm
There are three mining areas worth knowing across the current islands, and they are not equal. Two are useful while you are levelling through the early islands. The third is where you should spend the bulk of your time.
| Location | Where it is | What it gives |
|---|---|---|
| Anchor Town | The mine near town, plus a hidden room behind a breakable wall | Copper and Iron Ore for your first crafting materials |
| Clown Town | A secret cave on the side of town | Gold, Emerald, and Diamond nodes — the best spot for high-tier crafting ore |
| Maple Village | Behind the waterfall | Lead Ore at 70+ EXP per node — the fastest levelling route |

Note: if a node does not respond at all, check that a pickaxe is actually equipped and that you are out of combat. Some rock formations are scenery, and a depleted node will not accept hits until it respawns.
Best mining skill tree path
Skill points go into the Mining tree inside the Lifeskills menu, and the ordering matters more than the total spent. Every point you sink into raw damage and extra swings shortens the time each node takes, which compounds across a farming session.
| Skill | Effect | Priority |
|---|---|---|
| Heavy Blows I–V | +10% pickaxe swing strength per level | Max first |
| Double Strike | Up to 60% chance to hit a node twice | Max second |
| Sharpened Edge I–V | Increases critical strike damage | Third |
| Shatterpoint | Doubles the effect of critical strikes | Take after Sharpened Edge |
| Aftershock | Situational bonus | Only with spare points at level 50+ |
| Flawless Streak | Situational bonus | Only with spare points at level 50+ |
Heavy Blows and Double Strike together do the heavy lifting — more damage per swing and a real chance of two hits landing at once. Sharpened Edge and Shatterpoint then stack on top by turning crits into node-breakers. Leave Aftershock and Flawless Streak until late, because points spent there early slow down your clear speed.
Crafting better pickaxes at the Anchor Town blacksmith
Your starting Rusty Pickaxe is a placeholder. Better tools break nodes in fewer swings, and everything above it is crafted at the blacksmith’s crafting table in Anchor Town. Recipes are gated behind both a Mining level and, at the top end, a Rebirth.
| Pickaxe | Rarity | Requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Steel Pickaxe | Rare | Mining lv. 15 |
| Silver Pickaxe | Rare | Mining lv. 30 |
| Golden Pickaxe | Rare | Mining lv. 50 |
| Emerald Pickaxe | Epic | Mining lv. 70 |
| Diamond Pickaxe | Legendary | Mining lv. 20, Rebirth 1 |
| Obsidian Pickaxe | Mythic | Mining lv. 40, Rebirth 2 |

Upgrading a pickaxe for bonus stats
Crafted pickaxes can be taken to the forge and upgraded for random bonus stats on top of their base damage. Rolls include modifiers like +2.9% Double Ore Chance, which increases how much material you pull from each node without changing how long it takes to break.
Because the bonus is random, upgrade the tool you intend to keep for a while rather than one you are about to replace two levels later. Double Ore Chance is the standout roll, since it effectively doubles your crafting material income from the same farming loop.

Prodigy perk and the level 100 rebirth
The Prodigy perk grants a flat 15% EXP boost to all life skills. It applies passively, so if you have it, every Lead Ore node is worth noticeably more than the base 70 EXP and the whole grind shortens by roughly a seventh.
Mining caps at level 100. At that point you can rebirth the skill, which resets its level but hands you Rebirth Tokens for upgrades that do not exist in the standard skill tree. Rebirth is also what unlocks the Diamond and Obsidian pickaxes. Along the way, Milestones pay out Gold and Celestial Coins, so the levels are not purely a number.
Tip: before you rebirth, check the panel’s own reset warning to confirm what carries over. There is no reason to reset mid-grind if you still need the crafting tiers your current level unlocks.
Codes
Open Settings, go to the Codes tab, type an entry into the “Enter code…” field, and press Redeem. Currently working: StarShower, OmegaCode, PocketOfStars, RollWithIt, GrandBlueCode, and CelestialBlessing.

The short version: get the best pickaxe your level allows, put your first points into Heavy Blows and Double Strike, and then stand behind the Maple Village waterfall breaking Lead Ore until the panel reads 100. Everything else — Anchor Town’s mine, the Clown Town cave, the forge rolls — exists to make that loop faster.
