Update 3.5 in Anime Dungeons rebuilds the top end of hero progression around one system: Limit Break. It sits behind a steep Divinity Shard wall, but it is the only way to push a maxed-out hero’s stats past where Divine upgrades stop. Everything else in the patch, from the improved raid drop rate to the new Infinite Dungeon, feeds that same loop.
Quick answer: Bring two copies of the same hero to Divine 2 (32 Divinity Shards each) and Level 25 or higher, then use the Limit Break station to merge them into one massively buffed unit. Each unit can be Limit Broken up to twice.
Limit Break requirements in Anime Dungeons
Limit Break is a merge, not an upgrade you buy. You feed it two identical heroes and get one back. The cost is almost entirely in shards, because both copies have to be pushed through the Divinity system first.
| Requirement | Detail |
|---|---|
| Copies needed | Two of the exact same hero |
| Divinity rank | Divine 2 on both copies |
| Shard cost | 32 Divinity Shards per Divine 2 upgrade |
| Hero level | Level 25 or higher |
| Max uses | Two Limit Breaks per unit |
| Result | One hero with a large stat increase |
Note: the Divinity Upgrade station and the Limit Break station are separate interaction points in the lobby, marked by yellow rings on the ground. Divinity Upgrade comes first; Limit Break only accepts heroes that already cleared it.
How to farm Divinity Shards after the 3.5 raid change
Raids are the shard faucet, and 3.5 doubled the rate. The Divinity Shard drop chance went from 20% to 40%, and a successful drop awards 5 shards. That still means roughly seven successful drops to fund a single Divine 2 copy, and you need two of them before Limit Break will accept anything.
Limit Break order: which heroes to upgrade first
Because each Limit Break burns 64 shards’ worth of investment, the order you pick matters more than usual. Cosmic Entity goes first, since it carries the passive damage buff, an active damage trigger, and a siphon effect that works in every build. Pirate Emperor follows, then Aizon, then Heavenly General.
| Priority | Hero |
|---|---|
| 1 | Cosmic Entity (Infinite) |
| 2 | Pirate Emperor (King) |
| 3 | Aizon (Hogyoku) |
| 4 | Heavenly General (Cataclysm) |
Heavenly General lands last only because of investment order, not weakness. Its low-HP damage multiplier is the largest in the game, but the threshold sits at 15% health, which is difficult to hold on purpose. Aizon has the same problem at 20%. Cosmic Entity asks nothing of you positionally, which is why it is worth the first 64 shards.

Infinite Dungeon rewards and the Midnight Wheel
Infinite Dungeon is the new endless mode added in 3.5, and it is where the cosmetic chase lives. Rounds keep escalating until you die, and your best result feeds a leaderboard. The top 10 players on that board receive the Apocalyptic Wings.
Everyone else is playing for spins. Clearing round 90 or higher awards between 40 and 60 spins on the Midnight Wheel, which holds the patch’s rarest cosmetics.
| Midnight Wheel reward | Drop rate |
|---|---|
| Midnight Wings | 0.2% |
| Midnight Scythes | 0.8% |
The rest of the wheel is filled with progression currency rather than cosmetics, including Divinity Shards, Divine Tokens, Trait Rolls, Stat Rolls, and Gems. Those slots sit at the 5%, 15%, and 26% weights, so most spins loop straight back into funding the next Divine 2 upgrade.
How to confirm a Limit Break worked
A successful merge consumes the second copy and leaves a single hero on your roster with visibly higher stats on its card. The hero’s health and damage values jump immediately, and the Limit Break counter on that unit ticks up, showing how many of its two uses remain.
If the station refuses the merge, the cause is almost always one of three things. One of the copies is not at Divine 2 yet, one is below Level 25, or the unit has already used both of its Limit Breaks. The station also lists a Required Level 60+ gate on certain interactions, so a low account level can block access before the hero requirements even come into play.
Speeding up the grind with codes
Codes do not award Divinity Shards, but they do hand out Gems, Trait Rerolls, and Stat Rerolls, which matter once your Limit Broken hero needs the right stat lines to be worth the investment. Redeem them from the ticket button in the top-right of the screen inside Anime Dungeons, then hit redeem.
Recent working codes include SAO, UPDATE3, 30KLIKES, 7MVISITS, and JJKTRIAL. Codes expire, so redeem them before they rotate out.
Update 3.5 is a grind-heavy patch by design. The doubled raid drop rate softens the shard wall, but 64 shards per Limit Break on a system that allows two per unit means a single fully broken hero is a long-term project. Pick one unit, stay on one raid difficulty you can clear without failing, and let the Infinite Dungeon spins top up the difference.
