Wardogs: Best Early-Game Medic Loadout

The weapons, armor, and revive tools that let a low-level Medic keep teammates alive without falling behind.

The weapons, armor, and revive tools that let a low-level Medic keep teammates alive without falling behind.

The Medic in Wardogs earns its progression by keeping squadmates in the fight, not by chasing kills. Wardogs never asks you to pick a class from a menu. It reads what you carry, so equipping an SMG alongside healing and revive tools levels the Medic track whether or not you fire a shot that life. A strong early loadout balances one reliable weapon, light protection, and enough medical gear to revive fast and get out.

Quick answer: Run the AK74 (or T-21 before it unlocks) with a PP-19 Vityaz or AMP-9 as backup, a Level 1 Helmet, Field Backpack, and Small TAC Vest, then fill the pack with Bandages plus a Field Resuscitator, upgrading to the Defibrillator once you reach Medic Level 11.

Weapons: AK74 primary, SMG backup

The AK74 is the strongest early-game primary in Wardogs. It handles low-to-medium range engagements well, which covers most of the fights a Medic gets pulled into around buildings and contested ground. If it is not unlocked yet, the T-21 assault rifle is a serviceable stand-in until you level up.

Your SMG is what actually feeds Medic XP through kills, so it earns its slot even if you mostly use it for self-defense. The PP-19 Vityaz shreds enemies at close range and suits squads that move room to room or defend towers. Before it unlocks, the AMP-9 is the cheapest option and needs almost no commitment beyond buying it for the life.

SMGs unlock along the Medic track and require a one-time cash purchase before you can buy them each life. Prices and level gates for the main options are below.

SMGPriceUnlock
AMP-9$900Available from the start
PP-19 Vityaz$1,200Medic 4 / $25,000
MP5$1,500Medic 15 / $75,000
Super-45$2,600Medic 35 / $150,000

Gear: helmet, backpack, and vest

You cannot revive anyone if a hidden sniper deletes you first, so a Level 1 Helmet is worth the $200 to avoid an instant headshot kill. You can upgrade later or loot a better helmet from a downed enemy.

The Field Backpack carries the medical supplies that make you useful. The Scout Backpack has fewer slots, which puts a Medic at a disadvantage, so use it only until the Field Backpack is available. Pair it with a Small TAC Vest to add quick-use slots, letting you swap between healing items fast in the middle of a revive.

Medical items: heal, then revive

Carry Bandages to top up your own health after a fight and to patch teammates before the next engagement. For picking downed players back up, the Field Resuscitator is the early workhorse. Unlike the Emergency Resuscitator, you can buy multiple Field Resuscitators and bring them into battle to revive several allies.

The Defibrillator is the fastest revive tool and the best option once it opens up, which makes it ideal when you want to stand someone up and immediately reposition. It needs batteries to function, so pack spares before you rely on it. Medic Level 11 is the milestone that puts the Defibrillator within reach.

How to use the loadout without dying first

Staying alive is part of the job. Charging into the same sightline that dropped your teammate usually creates two casualties instead of fixing one, so stage one layer behind the gunfight rather than in front of it.

Stick close to your squad’s densest cluster near the active Control Zone so you can reach downed players quickly, but keep a safe backline behind you.
Before committing to an exposed revive, throw white smoke over the deadly angle. An open pickup with no cover is how a Medic hands two bodies to a third team.
Revive the highest-value teammate first, stand them up, and leave together. Reposition right after the pickup instead of lingering on the spot.
Restock and rebuy the same setup after a clean death. Keep the loadout affordable so it stays available every life rather than sitting in spawn after one greedy push.

Note: If your squad already has two Medics and no anti-tank while armor is pressuring the zone, swap off. A surplus of Medics does not beat a vehicle.

Wardogs runs on a season clock, and its developer is actively balancing progression, prices, and equipment, so exact unlock levels and costs can shift between updates. Keep the weapon light, the pack heavy on revives, and your weight low enough to sprint to the next downed teammate, and the early Medic loadout does exactly what the role needs.
