Fisch: How to Get the Abaia’s Spite Rod (Full Guide)

Abaia’s Spite is the top-end rod added to Fisch in the Skycrest update, and it is not something you stumble into. It sits behind the Keeper of the Sky questline, two separate Abaia hunts tied to storm weather, a mutated relic, and a level gate high enough to lock out most of the playerbase. The craft itself takes about five seconds. Everything before it is the work.

Quick answer: At level 850 or higher, bring 1x Line of the Skies, 1x Squalled Abaia, 1x Ancestral Abaia, 1x Petrified Empyrean Relic and 750,000 C$ to the crafting altar inside the Ancient Archives on Ancient Isle, then select Abaia’s Spite and craft.

Abaia’s Spite crafting requirements in Fisch

Four items and one cash payment. Three of the four are Skycrest-exclusive, and two of them depend on weather events, which is what stretches this craft across multiple play sessions.

Note: both Abaia entries need the Gombak Bent-Winged Firefly as bait. Abaia is an Exotic fish with 9 resilience and a locked -80% progress speed modifier, so bring a rod that can actually hold the bar before you burn a storm on it.

Line of the Skies: Keeper of the Sky questline

This is the longest leg. The Keeper of the Sky stands on Skycrest and gates the whole chain behind Idol Favor, so start grinding that number the moment you land on the island. Speed-fishing the idol pond is the fastest way up.

Talk to the Keeper of the Sky and accept the questline. You are handed a Crest Amulet, and the first objectives are Idol Favor requirements rather than fishing targets.

Push Idol Favor to Level 50 through Crystal Reclamation. Every Sky Crystal has its own Idol Level check, and the last one needs 50, so there is no route around this.

Collect all 10 Sky Crystals across the old map. They sit in Moosewood, Terrapin Island, Roslit Bay, Snowcap Island, Forsaken Shores, the Jungle, Castaway Cliffs, Ancient Isle, Northern Expedition and Scoria Reach. Keep the quest tracker open while you travel.

Check the quest panel between trips. Skycrest runs several overlapping quest chains at once, and it is easy to think a crystal step is done when the objective is still sitting at a partial count.

Return to the Skycrest gate and slot all 10 crystals into the perimeter sockets. The gate opens and Abaia’s Chamber becomes accessible.

Run The Ritual of Flame. Enter the chamber and sacrifice high-tier fish into the Fire of Spirits until the flame is large enough to summon the serpent.

Wait for a Tropical Squall or Raging Squall, which The Abaia Awakening requires. If the weather refuses to cooperate, a Tropical Squall Totem from Elder Kaito’s weekly shop in Skycrest forces one.

Chase Abaia around Skycrest during the squall and hook it at each spot to strip all four Crest Barrier layers. It moves between the outer ponds and the island, so expect to relocate repeatedly.

Go back into Abaia’s Chamber and reel in Squalid Abaia. The catch hands over the Line of the Skies, the Sky Keeper title, and an Empyrean Relic.

Hold onto that relic. Forge Master Torin will take an Empyrean Relic in trade for the Empyrean Idol skin at Idol Favor Level 50, and handing it over is one of the easiest ways to lose a crafting ingredient you cannot quickly replace. Empyrean Relic also has roughly a 1 in 15,000 catch chance if you have to find another one.

Squalled Abaia and Ancestral Abaia: The weather conditions

These two fish are the same hunt structure with different triggers, and the mutation is the part people get wrong. A plain Abaia does not satisfy the recipe. You need one that came out of the water with Squalled on it.

Both hunts follow the same four-barrier pattern as the awakening fight. Summon the serpent at the Fire of Spirits, break the barrier layers across Skycrest, then land the catch inside the chamber. Because Squalled is a mutation roll rather than a guarantee, budget for more than one successful Abaia catch.

Petrified Empyrean Relic: Appraising the mutation

Petrified is not something the Empyrean Relic spawns with. You apply it afterward.

Secure an Empyrean Relic. The Abaia hunt awards one, and a Skycrest NPC side quest also hands one over.

Take it to the Appraiser and appraise it repeatedly until the Petrified mutation lands. A Mutation Surge improves your odds while it is running, so appraise during one if you catch it live.

Confirm the item now reads as Petrified Empyrean Relic in your inventory. The altar checks for the mutated name, not the base fish.

Crafting Abaia’s Spite at the Ancient Archives altar

The altar is not on Skycrest. It sits on Ancient Isle, which means one last trip off the floating island once your materials are in hand.

Sail or jet-ski from Moosewood Village to Ancient Isle. The island shows up as a HUD waypoint marker once you are pointed at it.

Head inside the Ancient Archives and find the crafting altar. Interact with it to pull up the recipe list.

Select Abaia’s Spite and hit Craft. The recipe consumes all four items plus 750,000 C$ in one action.

You know it worked when the rod lands in your inventory and the Rod Journal awards 8,000 XP under the Skycrest entry. If the Craft button does nothing, the cause is almost always one of a short list: you are under level 850, you are short on C$, your relic is missing the Petrified mutation, or your Abaia is missing the Squalled mutation.

Infinite weight capacity means nothing in the game is too heavy to lure, and 200 durability lets the rod fish lava, brine, and noxious fluid pools. The 80% Resilience is the highest of any rod in the Skycrest set.

The passive package is where the value comes from. Every catch rolls a 75% chance for Squalled at 6x or a 25% chance for the Abaia’s Spite mutation at 10.5x, and a Perfect Catch adds another 25% roll to overwrite the current mutation with Abaia’s Spite, provided it does not undercut a higher-priority or higher-value one.
