Wrath (Assault) is the exclusive curse-type unit sitting at Tier 50 of the Battle Pass in Anime Vanguards, and it exists almost entirely to make other units hit harder. On its own it is a modest attacker. Paired with Iscanur (Pride) — the unit everyone calls Escanor — it turns a single ultimate into the kind of damage number that erases a boss health bar in one cycle.
Quick answer: Place Wrath (Assault), trigger its active skill The Power of Friends, then immediately fire Iscanur (Pride)’s Lion’s Sin. The next damage-dealing active from an Evil category unit is multiplied by 4 and redirected at the highest-HP enemy on the field.
How to unlock Wrath (Assault) from the Battle Pass
Wrath (Assault) arrived with the Wrath Event update alongside the Scrap Bluntsword familiar, and it is locked behind Tier 50 of the Battle Pass. You either grind the tiers normally or buy the Pass Bundle, which unlocks every tier at once and drops the unit straight into your inventory.

The raw stat line is not why you are building it, but it matters for placement cost and uptime. Here is how the unit reads at base placement versus a fully upgraded, level 60 build with Z+ stat rolls.
| Stat | Base placement | Max upgrade |
|---|---|---|
| Damage | 8K | 38.75K |
| SPA | 7s | 5.6s |
| Range | 20 | 23.4 |
| DPS | 1.14K/s | 6,935/s |

Add to Google Preferences →Phantom of Darkness and Emotions Wiped: The two passives that matter
Phantom of Darkness is the aura that justifies the placement slot. Any curse element unit on the board gains 50% damage, and anything in the Evil category gains 80% damage plus 20% base damage. That second bucket is the one Escanor sits in, which is why the two units are built together.
Emotions Wiped is the awkward one. Every three waves, Wrath (Assault) is hit with mind control and removes itself from the board, spawning a clone your remaining units have to kill. Do not panic when the unit disappears mid-run — that is the passive working as intended.

Killing that clone is the payoff. Each successful kill grants the unit 80% bonus damage, stacking up to three times, and once the stacks are complete it gains 100% crit chance. Treat the mind control cycle as a scaling mechanic, not a punishment.
The Power of Friends: How the 4x multiplier works
The active ability does one thing and does it very specifically. It multiplies the next damage-dealing active skill from an Evil category unit by 4, and it forces that skill to target the enemy with the highest current HP.
Two details decide whether you get value out of it. The buff is consumed by the next qualifying active, so anything else you fire first eats the multiplier. And the forced targeting means it is tuned for boss waves rather than clearing crowds — on a normal wave the nuke will chase the tankiest enemy instead of the densest cluster.
Running the Escanor combo with Iscanur (Pride)
Iscanur (Pride) is an Evil category unit whose Lion’s Sin ultimate already produces one of the largest single hits in the game. Layered under Wrath (Assault)’s passive aura and active multiplier, that nuke can be pushed as high as 16 times its normal value, which is what makes it viable against bosses sitting on hundreds of millions of HP.
A Beast Plays memoria and the Monarch trait
A Beast Plays is the unit’s exclusive memoria and it rewards mixed-element teams. Its Dancho passive adds 20% damage for every different element present on your unit bar, and Lost in Vain spawns a clone every 30 seconds that reflects incoming attacks back at 2x damage.

Memoria are levelled by feeding other memoria, with a cap around level 60, and their stats and traits can be rerolled separately from the unit’s own trait. Solar is a strong roll to chase on the memoria itself for the extra damage and range.

On the unit itself, Monarch is the trait to aim for, with one significant caveat baked into it.
| Monarch effect | Value |
|---|---|
| Damage | +300% |
| SPA | -10% |
| Range | +5% |
| Placement limit | 1 |
Note: that placement limit of 1 is not a drawback for this build. Wrath (Assault) is a buff anchor, and a single copy already applies the full aura and the full active multiplier.
Why the combo fails to trigger
There are only a few ways this setup goes wrong, and all of them are timing or category problems rather than stat problems.
- The receiving unit is not Evil category, so the 4x multiplier never applies.
- Another Evil unit’s damaging active fires first and consumes the buff.
- Wrath (Assault) is off the board from Emotions Wiped when you try to use the active.
- The nuke is fired outside a boss window, where forced highest-HP targeting wastes the multiplier on a trash mob.
Escanor’s long-standing weakness still applies underneath all of this. Shielded enemies soak the damage in layers, so a boss hiding behind shields can blunt even a multiplied Lion’s Sin unless something on your team bypasses or strips them first. Everything else about the pairing is straightforward — place the buffer, hold the active for the boss, and let the multiplier do the work.
