The Blue Galapagos Octopus is one of the three fish added to Fisch alongside the Budling companion, and it sits behind a fairly narrow set of conditions. It is an Exotic catch tied to a single spot in Desolate Deep, and it only shows up when the season and weather line up.
Quick answer: Fish the Desolate Pocket inside Desolate Deep using Seaweed bait during Summer while it is raining. Time of day does not matter.
Blue Galapagos Octopus catch requirements in Fisch
Every preference below stacks in your favor. None of them are hard locks in the sense that bait is mandatory, but Summer and Rain are what make the octopus realistically reachable, and Seaweed is the bait it prefers.
| Requirement | Detail |
|---|---|
| Rarity | Exotic (chance increases with luck) |
| Location | Desolate Pocket, inside Desolate Deep |
| Season | Summer |
| Weather | Rain |
| Time of day | Any |
| Bait | Seaweed |
| Source | Fishing Rod |
Note: the Blue Galapagos Octopus is a Favoring Exotic, so higher luck raises its odds. Luck boosts do not replace the season or weather conditions.

Reeling it in: resilience and Runaway behavior
Hooking it is only half the job. The Blue Galapagos Octopus has a resilience value of -10, which the game classes as Extreme, so a weak rod will make the bar fight you the whole way.
It also uses Runaway behavior, meaning it actively pulls away from your bar rather than drifting into it. If your rod’s Control stat is 0.7 or higher, it starts moving erratically instead, which changes how you track it. Working in your favor, the fish carries a +30% progress speed modifier, so clean tracking fills the bar quickly.

How to confirm you caught it
Two things confirm the catch. Your character shouts one of the fish’s catch quips, either “A LITTLE BLUE GUY?!” or “OCTOPUS!!!”, and the catch itself is announced in the chat log with the Exotic tag, its weight, and any mutation attached to it.
Once caught, it is registered in your Desolate Deep bestiary, which is worth checking if you are chasing zone completion rather than just the sell value.

Why the Blue Galapagos Octopus is not appearing
If dozens of casts go by with nothing, the cause is almost always one of a short list of misses.
- You are fishing in Desolate Deep but not inside the Desolate Pocket itself.
- The season is not Summer.
- It is not currently raining in the server.
- You are using a bait other than Seaweed, which lowers the odds without blocking the catch outright.
Blue Galapagos Octopus value, weight, and XP
This is a small fish, so the payout comes from its rate per kilogram rather than raw bulk. It sells for 21,775 C$ per kilogram and grants 6,480 XP.
| Weight tier | Weight | Sell value |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum | 0.1kg | 2,177.5 C$ |
| Average | 0.15kg | 3,266.3 C$ |
| Base | 0.2kg | 4,355 C$ |
| Maximum (no boosts) | 0.4kg | 9,146 C$ |
Size labels follow the same scale. Anything under 0.05kg counts as Tiny, under 0.099kg is Small, above 0.2kg is Big, and above 0.398kg is Giant.
The octopus arrived in version 2.01.0 alongside the Walrus at Snowcap Island and the Reef Triggerfish at Roslit Bay, so if you are working through the new additions, a Summer rain window is the moment to make the trip out to Desolate Deep and clear all the conditions in one session.
