Weapon choice in Lineage Piece decides how fast you clear mobs, how quickly you finish boss chains, and how much of your coin pile you waste on gear you will drop in a week. The gap between the top swords and the starter ones is enormous — the meta picks measure damage per rotation in the tens of millions, while the early swords barely scratch anything past the first few islands.
Quick answer: Excalibur Morgan is the strongest weapon in the game, with Solemn Lament a close second. Kokushibo, Shadow Daggers, and Miyabi are the best realistic targets before you get there.
Lineage Piece weapon tier list (September 2026)
Rankings reflect the game as it stands in September 2026, after the Excalibur Morgan nerf and the Solemn Lament buff. Weapons are judged on damage per rotation, area coverage, animation speed, and how usable they are during long farming sessions.
| Tier | Weapons | Role |
|---|---|---|
| S | Excalibur Morgan, Solemn Lament | Endgame meta |
| A | Kokushibo, Shadow Daggers, Miyabi | Farming the S-tiers |
| B | Raiden, Shadow, Tensa Zangetsu | Mid-game workhorses |
| C | Excalibur, Player’s Dagger | Transitional only |
| D | Zangetsu, Yoru, Gryphon, Stylish Bandit Slayer, Dual Katana, Katana | Starter gear |
Fruits sit outside this ladder entirely. They are fine while you level, but they fall off badly once weapon scaling kicks in. Light is the only one worth keeping long term, purely for flight.
S tier: the two weapons that define the meta
| Weapon | Damage per rotation | Unlock cost | Location |
|---|---|---|---|
| Excalibur Morgan | ~100 million | 20,000,000 Coins, 2,000 Gems | Legend’s Arena |
| Solemn Lament | 90 million+ | 30,000,000 Coins, 45,000 Gems | Frostborn Island |
Excalibur Morgan
Excalibur Morgan took a nerf and still holds the top spot. Paired with Supreme it clears its damage ceiling without even touching R, and pressing R pushes it higher again. Every skill carries wide area coverage and a long stagger, which is why it doubles as the best single-target option and a clean mob clearer.
Building it means a long trip through Ryuudo Cave. You need a Corrupted Holy Sword, three Dark Mana Core, five Servant Covenant, ten Dragon Blood, and 750 Grail Mud, all sourced from bosses inside that dungeon. The Ryuudo Key comes from Saber in Legend’s Arena. Equip the Tyrant King title from the Saber Alter boss for the damage bonus.
Solemn Lament
Solemn Lament got a buff that pulled it up alongside Excalibur Morgan. Its reach is the standout trait, with fast move animations that make rotations feel less committal, and R is comfortably its best damage move. If you struggle to hit things reliably, the extra range makes it the more forgiving of the two.
The build list runs through Frostborn Island: one Grief for the Dead, one Lament for the Living, five Fusion Core, 100 Soulweaver Butterfly, and 250 Boss’s Soul. The Yi Sang boss lives at The Butterfly Grave, reached with the Butterfly Grave key from the crafting NPC. The Final Elegy title from Yi Sang buffs it.

A tier: what you use to farm the S tier
| Weapon | Unlock cost | Race needed | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kokushibo | 10,000,000 Coins, 10,000 Gems | Demon | Deeproot Jungle |
| Shadow Daggers | Quest chain, Level 5,000+ | Monarch | Scorched Ruins |
| Miyabi | Banner gacha, 0.5% chance | Frost Kitsune | Lineage Town banner |
Kokushibo is the practical pick. It sits third on the damage ladder with respectable range and area coverage on its whole kit, and it is the easiest Mythic here to actually obtain. If your goal is grinding out the S-tier material lists, this is the tool that gets you there fastest.
Shadow Daggers land on roughly the same damage numbers as Kokushibo across a full rotation, with even better range and mob coverage. The catch is the unlock: you need Player’s Dagger first, level 5,000, and a Monarch’s Acknowledgment drop that only appears about 10 percent of the time from the Sung Jin Woo boss.
Miyabi is a banner weapon, and at a 0.5 percent pull rate most players will never see it. Its fast skill animations make it excellent for burning down bosses before they get a turn, though its regular skills cover less ground than some Mythics that hit softer.
B tier: the mid-game bridge
These three carry you through the middle of the game and are strong enough to farm high-tier unlock materials. None of them scale into the endgame, so treat them as tools rather than destinations.
Raiden puts up the highest mid-game numbers. It runs a polearm stance for single targets and swaps to sword mode for area bursts, which is a lot of damage but also a lot of animation. That mode switching makes it clunkier than the alternatives during long grinds. You need the Archon race and drops from the Raiden boss in the Plane of Euthymia raid, entered with a Shrine Key from Snow Bandits on Frostborn Island.

Shadow gives up damage for comfort. Its animations are fast and smooth, and its area moves are wide enough that it often out-farms harder-hitting weapons simply because you spend less time locked in attacks. Getting it is the awkward part — Stylish Bandit Slayer from the Cid NPC first, 250 Bandit kills with it, then drops from the Shadow boss in Cid’s Castle.
Tensa Zangetsu is the best Legendary in the game and by far the easiest weapon in this bracket to pick up. It rivals some Mythic swords on damage and its moveset is simple to use, which makes it the default sword for anyone who has not started serious boss farming yet.
C and D tier: starter weapons to replace fast
Everything below B tier exists to get you to the next island. Excalibur and Player’s Dagger are the two worth buying if you have nothing better, but both are harder to get than Tensa Zangetsu while dealing less damage with smaller area coverage, which makes them a poor use of savings if you are close to that unlock.
| Weapon | Rarity | Cost | Where |
|---|---|---|---|
| Excalibur | Legendary | 650K Coins, 3.5K Gems | Saber, Legend’s Arena |
| Player’s Dagger | Legendary | 1M Coins, 7.5K Gems | Sung Jin Woo, Scorched Ruins |
| Yoru | Rare | 200K Coins, 500 Gems | Dark Blade Seller, Frostborn |
| Gryphon | Rare | 750K Coins, 100 Gems | Deeproot Jungle |
| Dual Katana | Uncommon | 30K Coins | Deeproot Jungle |
| Katana | Common | 2.5K Coins | Dawnwind Village |
Zangetsu comes from Ichigo at Hueco Mundo and has decent single-target reach for its rarity, but it is strictly a placeholder until Tensa Zangetsu. Yoru handles single enemies well with a cone-shaped hit, while Gryphon’s second skill covers far more ground for grinding — the cooldown on it is long, though. Katana is the weakest weapon in the game with one small ability, and Dual Katana only adds a second skill without fixing the damage.

Race and outfit pairings that change your damage
A weapon’s race bonus is not optional at the top end. Several S and A tier weapons are gated behind a specific race, and the rest gain a direct damage percentage from theirs.
| Race | Key bonuses | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Pink Elf | +27.5% Weapon Dmg, -5% Cooldown, +8.5 Crit Rate | Sword builds overall |
| Frost Kitsune | +25% Weapon Dmg, +4% Crit Chance | Miyabi |
| Monarch | +27.5% Weapon Dmg, -5% Cooldown | Shadow Daggers |
| Archon | +20% Sword Dmg, +5% Total Dmg | Raiden |
| Demon | +20% Total Dmg, +12.5% Crit Dmg | Kokushibo |
If you are running a meta weapon, take the race tied to it — the weapon-specific bonus plus the base stats beats anything generic. If you are still on a lower-tier sword, a higher-rarity race will often out-damage the themed race attached to your weapon.
For outfits, match the spec you are running. Solemn Lament, Alter, Yhwach, and Firefly outfits all sit at the top, with Miyabi, Moon Kimono, and Limitless a step below. Failing a match, pick whichever piece has the highest Weapon stat.
What to chase at each stage
The fastest route is not always the highest tier. Early on, a cheap fruit and the Katana get you through Dawnwind Village without spending anything meaningful. Save your coins rather than buying Gryphon or Yoru outright.
Your first real investment should be Tensa Zangetsu. It is cheap for what it does and it carries you far enough to start farming Mythic materials, which is where the C-tier Legendaries fail. From there, Kokushibo is the cleanest step up because the Demon race only needs 10 Blue Spider Lily collected across five islands.
Once you can clear bosses reliably with an A-tier weapon, start the Ryuudo Cave chain for Excalibur Morgan. The Grail Mud requirement alone is 750 drops, so begin collecting it during regular runs rather than treating it as a separate grind.

Confirming a weapon unlock worked
When you hand in a material list to a weapon NPC, the sword appears in your Storage menu and can be equipped immediately. If the NPC refuses the trade, the missing requirement is almost always the race — Kokushibo, Raiden, and Yhwach all check for it before checking materials.
Mastery is tracked separately. Each weapon has its own Mastery NPC, usually on the same island as the weapon seller, and the quest list only shows progress once you have the weapon equipped. Solemn Lament’s chain asks for 3.5 billion damage dealt with it, and Excalibur Morgan’s asks for 2.5 billion, so expect mastery to trail well behind the unlock itself.

Balance patches move these placements around regularly — Excalibur Morgan has already been nerfed once without losing the top spot, and Solemn Lament climbed on a buff. Check your weapon’s damage after any major update before committing another 20 million coins to a swap.
