Aniimo, the free-to-play creature-collecting RPG from Pawprint Studio, launched worldwide on September 16, 2026 across PC, console, and Xbox cloud gaming, with a mobile version following on September 23. One question has trailed the game since before release: how much of it, if any, involves artificial intelligence. The short version is that the answer depends on which part of Aniimo you mean.
Quick answer: Pawprint Studio says Aniimo’s creatures, world, and text are human-made and that generative AI was not used for game assets. Some ads made with generative AI were pulled in July 2026, and an optional NVIDIA ACE voice feature is planned for early 2027.

The July 2026 advertising controversy
The AI questions started with marketing, not the game. In late July 2026, players spotted Aniimo advertisements containing footage that did not match what the game actually looks like. The reaction was quick, and Pawprint Studio responded on its channels with an apology.
The statement said the team had seen the feedback about the ads, that focusing on launch had “led to some errors in judgment regarding how we advertise this game,” and that the adverts “have been removed from all of our channels,” though some copies persisted due to technical limitations. It stressed that “the world of Idyll and the creatures that inhabit it come from our imagination,” and that the way those ads were produced was “absolutely not representative of how we are making the game itself.”
In other words, the studio confirmed the ads were the problem, pulled them, and drew a firm line between the marketing and the game.

No official source describes any creature, environment, or piece of text in Aniimo as machine-generated. In a developer Q&A, Pawprint Studio stated plainly that generative AI is not used to design the Aniimo or the world of Idyll, and that all creative assets are human-made.
The studio did draw one distinction. It acknowledged using “Utility AI” for automated testing and physics simulations, a standard part of modern game development that is separate from generating art, characters, or writing.
A few external signals line up with that position. Aniimo’s Steam page carries no AI-content disclosure, which Valve requires when generative AI is used in a product. The official creature index at wiki.aniimo.com credits no generation tool. And a September 3, 2026 letter from the development team describes the creatures as things the team designed and grew attached to over more than a year of work.
“Piece by piece, it all took shape. And sometimes, the strangest feeling would creep in: it didn’t feel like we were designing these Aniimo anymore. It felt like we were discovering them.”
Some community suspicion still exists, and it is fair to note that. What can be verified is that no official material describes the shipped game’s content as generated, and the studio explicitly separated the pulled ads from how the game itself is built.

Where AI does appear: the NVIDIA ACE voice feature
There is one place AI is confirmed to be coming to Aniimo, and it is not the art. On August 26, 2026, Pawprint Studio announced a post-launch update powered by NVIDIA ACE that will let players talk to their Aniimo companions directly.
According to the studio, the goal is voice-driven, natural-language interaction. The planned capabilities include:
- Chatting with your Aniimo using voice commands
- Teaching them new skills by voice input
- Sending them out to gather resources
- Getting dynamic emotional responses based on your actions
This is a language interface for interacting with the creatures, not a tool that generates the game’s content. The feature is optional, it is not part of the launch build, and it is planned for early 2027.
Because the ACE feature is not live yet, nothing in the currently shipped creature or world content depends on it. If you are playing Aniimo today, you are not interacting with an AI voice system.

What’s confirmed right now
Putting the pieces together, the AI story around Aniimo splits cleanly into three separate things with three different answers. Some marketing ads were made with generative AI, and those were removed and apologized for in July 2026. The game’s own creatures, environments, and text are described as human-made, with AI used only for behind-the-scenes testing and physics. And a voice-based NVIDIA ACE feature is coming after launch, planned for early 2027, as an optional way to talk to your companions.
