Aniimo: How to Get Shrubclaw (Budclaw Evolution)

Shrubclaw comes from a level 21 Budclaw or a wild catch in Berylline Vale, and here is what each route costs.

Shrubclaw comes from a level 21 Budclaw or a wild catch in Berylline Vale, and here is what each route costs.

Shrubclaw is the No. 24 entry in the Aniilog, a Rock and Grass creature built around the BREAK role, and most players meet it long before they can use it. The crab shows up in the field notes early because its basic form, Budclaw, wanders the starting region, but the evolved version only arrives after a specific level and a specific stone.

Quick answer: Evolve a Budclaw at level 21 using Loam Stone x3, or catch a wild Shrubclaw directly in Berylline Vale, where it appears between levels 40 and 47.

Two ways to get Shrubclaw in Aniimo

The evolution route is the one almost everyone uses, because Budclaw sits in Breezy Plains where you start the game and costs nothing but time. The direct catch is faster on paper but gated behind progression, since wild Shrubclaw live in Berylline Vale at a level band far above anything you can handle in the opening hours.

RouteWhereRequirement
Evolve BudclawBreezy PlainsBudclaw at Lv. 21 + Loam Stone x3
Catch in the wildBerylline ValeEncounters at Lv. 40–47

Both routes produce the same creature, so there is no stat penalty for taking the cheap path. Budclaw is also worth keeping around for the Homeland, since it produces 120 Bud Tickets per day.

Catching Budclaw in Breezy Plains

Budclaw is the No. 23 entry and roams Breezy Plains, the region you unlock first. It travels in pairs, which makes it easy to spot and easy to catch two at once if you want a spare for the Homeland while the other one levels up.

Open the Aniilog if you are unsure whether you have already logged one. The overview screen shows filled portraits for creatures you have captured and silhouettes for the ones you have not, so you can confirm the Budclaw entry before you go hunting.

How to evolve Budclaw into Shrubclaw

Get your Budclaw to level 21. Battle experience and party-share experience both count, and the evolve option stays greyed out until the level requirement is met.
Collect Loam Stone x3. This is the evolution material the crab line consumes, and it is spent the moment you confirm the evolution.
Open the main menu from your character screen. This is the hub with your inventory and management options.

Select “Aniimo” to open creature management and find Budclaw in your battle party or storage. Highlighting the creature brings up its detail panel with the evolve option.
Choose evolve and confirm. The stones are deducted, Budclaw becomes Shrubclaw, and the creature keeps its nickname and accumulated levels.

Evolving does not reset progress toward research points, so a Budclaw you have already been battling with carries that work forward.

How to confirm the evolution worked

The clearest confirmation is the field notes entry. Shrubclaw fills in the No. 24 slot with the Nova stage label, the Rock and Grass elements, and the description about the plants on its shell converting sunlight into food.

Inside the creature’s detail screen, the skill list also changes. A finished Shrubclaw shows Quake Impact as its ultimate, Leaf Slash and Verdant Beam among its combat skills, and Tunnel as its mobility option. If any of those are missing, the evolution did not go through.

Shrubclaw stats and skills after evolving

Shrubclaw is a defensive breaker rather than a damage dealer. It stands 1.3 meters tall, weighs 25kg, and its physical defense is the standout number on the sheet.

The kit mixes cheap spin attacks for chip damage with one heavy finisher. Quake Impact costs nothing and hits the hardest, which is why it anchors most Shrubclaw setups.

Tunnel is the reason Shrubclaw survives fights it should not. Burrowing makes it immune to ranged attacks while stamina drains, and its Stealth trait builds Momentum faster while underground, up to six stacks, which then boosts BREAK efficiency by 30 percent. Pound skills are the counter, since they can launch the creature back out of the ground.

Shrubclaw research task and rewards

Once you own one, the special research task asks you to bring a Shrubclaw along or Twine with one, then approach a wild Shrubclaw of the matching gender. That means Berylline Vale is still on the itinerary even if you evolved yours in Breezy Plains.

  • Research point tiers: 110, 70, 120, 160
  • Reporting a sighting pays 100 Credits
  • Releasing a Shrubclaw returns Growth Flower x2

Shrubclaw alternate forms

The basic form is not the only Shrubclaw in the index. Mudflat Shrubclaw (No. 24B), Beach Shrubclaw (No. 24C), and Bay Shrubclaw (No. 24D) are separate Aniilog entries that come from Budclaw caught in different coastal regions, and they drop the Grass typing to run as pure Rock breakers.

Each still evolves at level 21, so the process is identical once you have the right Budclaw. Collecting the full set of variants also pays out a small permanent bonus on the Aniilog entry, which is the main reason to chase them beyond the artwork.
