The cave entrance sits at 1339, 1986 in Nimbus Fields, and the Chasing the Clouds main quest walks you most of the way there.

Chasing Clouds is the solo Sanctum tucked under the cliffs of Nimbus Fields, and its entrance is easy to miss because it is not on the surface at all. The door sits inside a cave in the rock face below the ruins, behind a curtain of thorny vines, and the marker on your map points at the cliff rather than the hole you actually need. Older checklists call the same place Nimbus Field, and the room itself went by Mistrider during the beta and Cloud Riding in early notes.

Quick answer: Chasing Clouds is in Nimbus Fields, Breezy Plains, at atlas coordinates 1339, 1986. Ride east across the surface ruins, glide off the cliff into the vine-covered cave, then Activate the purple cube inside the pit.

Chasing Clouds Sanctum location and entrance details

The pin sits toward the southern coast of Nimbus Fields, which is part of the wider Breezy Plains region. Before you set off, it helps to know exactly what you are looking for, because the cave mouth is small and the landmark inside is the real confirmation that you are in the right place.

Approach the cave from the east side. Coming in from the west works, but the detour is noticeably longer and drops you on the wrong side of the rock face.

When Chasing Clouds Sanctum unlocks

You do not need to hunt the cave down blind on a first playthrough. The main story quest Chasing the Clouds unlocks automatically once you finish Setting Out Again, and it marches you to this exact door. After you glide off the hill, activate the Bloom in the grassland and speak to Senior Sheepy, she asks you to Twine with an Emberpup and blend in with the Emberpup family nearby. Following that family is what leads you to the Sanctum, and the game activates it for you in a cutscene.

If you are coming back later for the chests, or you skipped ahead and want the room on its own, the entrance stays open and you can walk in solo at any point.

Route from the Nimbus Fields ruins to the cave

Set the map marker on the Chasing Clouds pin and travel to the stone ruins above it. Mount up and ride east across the broken stonework until you can see the cliff edge ahead of you.

Run straight off the cliff and glide down the rock face. You are aiming for a cave opening below the ruins, marked by glowing vines around its mouth, so keep your descent tight against the wall instead of drifting out over the water.
Clear the thorn vines across the opening. Command or Twine with a Fire Aniimo such as an Emberpup and burn the barrier away, then wait for the burn to finish before you walk through.

Keep a Fire Aniimo in your active team for the trip. Without one, the vine barrier is the point where the route stops.

Follow the cavern ledge inward past the purple light beams. The tall violet glyph-covered structure ahead is the entrance landmark, so head for its interaction point rather than circling the outside of it.

Glide down into the pit at the end of the cavern. The glowing purple cube on the floor is the Sanctum entrance itself.

Approach the cube until the prompt reads Chasing Clouds and press Activate. A short cutscene plays, and the challenge card appears.

How to confirm you are at the right entrance

The entrance card is the only check you need. It reads Sanctum: Chasing Clouds, lists one player, shows Chests Obtained 0/4 on a fresh run, and displays the first-clear reward slot of one Lumin Amber: Breezy Plains plus 500 EXP. Once you are through, the objective line changes to reaching the heart of the Sanctum and restoring the Vein, with the chest counter tracking alongside it.

What the Chasing Clouds trial gives you inside

The room supplies its own mobility, so you do not need to bring a flying Aniimo. Walk east along the misted entrance hall to the stone statue, use Awaken to claim the trial Turbo and Twine with it. The ability you get is Cloudwalk, and the room hands you a Grab card on the way in for carrying objects.

  • Enter a cloud and press T for Flight Mode on the default PC layout.
  • Space ascends, Ctrl descends, X exits Flight Mode.
  • While flying, move close to an Ancient Battery to attach it.
  • Drop each battery onto a round charging plate to power the large gates.

If you have rebound any of those keys, follow the on-screen prompt instead.

Four optional chests sit along the route, three standard and one premium. The premium one is in the sunken east pit of the battery chamber, not behind the final gate. The other three are the ledge between the flame jets, the shelf beside the crosswind vents, and the west ledge in the battery chamber.

Touching the Terminus ends the run immediately, so check that the counter reads 4/4 before you fly the last span.

Load both charging plates and the two circuits turn gold, the split pattern on the gate face closes into a single rosette, and the shutter lifts. Cross the span of open air beyond it, land on the square Sanctum Terminus and use Touch to restore the Vein. That clears the room, pays the first-clear Lumin Amber and EXP, and leaves the cave entrance open for any future visits.
