Binding Oath is the Mistwoods journey quest that opens with a talking Hummin and ends with a promotion assessment. Its middle section is the part that stalls people: three Vine Cores, three separate markers, and one of them sealed behind a barrier that only burns.

Quick answer: The three Vine Cores sit in the eastern ruins, the western swamp, and the northern cave of Mistwoods. Collect them in any order, then hand all three to Ron.

Vine Core locations in Mistwoods

Each core is a glowing flower you interact with directly, and each one has a treasure chest sitting beside it. Touching the flower plays a short cutscene before the objective ticks over.

ObjectiveWhere it sitsAccess
Eastern ruinsUpper level of the stone ruinsClimb pillars and walls
Western swampHigh ledge above rock formationsGlide and climb the cliffside
Northern caveInside the cavern passageBurn the thorn barrier first

Order does not matter mechanically, but east, then west, then north keeps the travel short. Teleporting to nearby Mistwoods waypoints between legs saves more time than riding the whole way.

Eastern ruins Vine Core

Track Binding Oath in the quest log and follow the eastern ruins marker out of the underground chamber. The route runs across open Mistwoods terrain, so a mount is the fastest option.
Climb the stone pillars and walls to reach the upper level of the ruins. The flower is not reachable from ground level, so work your way up the broken structure.
Touch the glowing flower to take the core. The Magic Sound Duet cutscene plays, after which the nearby chest becomes available.

A Lv. 36 Hexxin roams the stone ruins here. It is not part of the quest, but it is an easy Anipod catch while you are already on site.

Western swamp Vine Core

Open the world map and set the western swamp objective as your tracked marker. The pin sits across Mistwoods from the ruins, so ride rather than walk.

On arrival, a Peculiar Hummin dialogue prompt fires near the base of the cliff. The core itself sits on a raised ledge above you, so glide and climb the rock formations to reach the plant structure.
Pluck the core to trigger the Dream of a Lifetime cutscene, then open the chest sitting next to the flower before leaving.

Northern cave Vine Core and the thorn barrier

This is the only leg with a hard block on it. A wall of red thorny brambles covers the cave mouth, and nothing but Fire removes it.

Track the northern cave objective and head north through Mistwoods to the cave entrance marker.

Summon a Fire-capable Aniimo such as Flameruff and burn the bramble wall. Wait for the burn to finish playing out before you try to walk through.
Follow the corridor inward, using the glowing flora along the walls to stay on the path through the darker stretches.

Activate the third flower in the cavern to play the Mistlight and Starlight cutscene, then loot the chest behind it. A side chest and a Lumin Amber: Breezy pickup on a broken pillar sit in the same area if you want to sweep it.

A Lv. 46 Wisptis patrols the ruins inside the cave. It considerably out-levels the Hexxin outside, so bring a team that can handle the fight or route around it.

Hand in the Vine Cores and finish Binding Oath

With all three cores collected, teleport back to the Twisted Roots waypoint and deliver them to Ron. The hand-in plays The Inheritor of the Vow, and the tracker then flips to Find Selens.

Teleport up to the Mistwoods surface waypoint, locate Selens, and watch The Real Promise. Dr. Lewis calls over the communication link straight afterwards to assign the Beast Fang Ridge Assessment title promotion, which is your confirmation that Binding Oath has closed out.

The quest pays Safaris x1,000, Credits x22,500, Glimmer x30, Sparkling Crystal x30, and the Binding Oath reward itself. Omega Tuckin also becomes available in the world once the quest is done.

If a Vine Core marker is missing

Open the quest log and retrack Binding Oath, then compare the remaining eastern ruins, western swamp, and northern cave objectives against what you have already collected. A blocked northern cave is not a bug in the quest chain, it is the thorn barrier waiting on Fire damage.

The Twisted Roots Sanctum sits next to the route between Ron and Selens, and it is worth a short detour for its single premium chest and a first-clear payout of one Lumin Amber: Breezy Plains and 500 EXP. It is not a quest step, though, so Binding Oath completes at Selens whether you enter it or not.
