The wording of the mission matters. Wins, coins, sword skins and normal Blade Ball progression are not listed as substitutes, and finishing other Roblox 20 quests will not fill in the 2023 slot. Only the three Tix count.

How the Serpent Knight spawns work
The event Knight appears once per round. There is no set of three permanent map locations to sweep in a single match, which is why the objective always takes at least three separate rounds. Waiting for the next match is normal behaviour, not a broken quest.
The pickup itself is small and easy to miss in a crowded arena. It reads as a glowing object, and it only becomes available once the round has been running for a short time, so sprinting around at the opening whistle will not find it faster.
Blade Ball’s normal rules still apply while you search. The homing ball keeps picking targets, and getting eliminated before you reach the Knight costs you the whole round.

Q, the controller equivalent, or the corresponding touch control. - Keep some distance from packs of players so the ball spends less time aimed at you.
- An invisibility ability makes the search safer if you already own one, but nothing paid is required.
Winning the match is irrelevant once your Tix has registered, so there is no reason to keep fighting after the pickup.
Claim the mission, then claim the item at the Hunt hub
With 3/3 Tix banked, go back to the lobby and open the Serpent Breakout menu one more time. The mission line will show a Claim button, and pressing it turns the entry to Claimed and hands over the reward on the Blade Ball side.
That is only half of the process. Roblox keeps the in-game quest and the avatar item separate, so leave Blade Ball and return to the official Hunt hub on the same account. Enter the 2023 portal, walk to the reward box, and press E to claim.
You know it worked when the hub stops listing 2023 as unclaimed and The Last Deflection badge and back accessory both unlock on your account, which also opens the next year in the progression.
If the Tix or the item do not register
Check that all three Tix came from the event Knight rather than from another currency drop or an ordinary match reward. Trust the mission counter rather than your memory of how many knights you touched, and keep playing rounds until the objective itself reads complete.
If the quest shows as finished but the accessory is missing, the hub claim step is almost always the part left undone. Open the Hunt hub and see whether 2023 is still waiting to be collected before replaying anything.
