Project Slayers 2: How to Get the Katana in Windy Peak

Raze sells both katana options in the starting village, and here's what each one costs and does.

Raze sells both katana options in the starting village, and here’s what each one costs and does.

The katana is the first real weapon most players pick up in Project Slayers 2, and it is a straight shop purchase rather than a drop or a quest reward. Everything happens inside the starting area, so you can be swinging a sword within a few minutes of spawning in.

Quick answer: Find the NPC Raze in the village at Windy Peak, buy the Regular Katana for 500 Wen or the Fancy Katana for 1,500 Wen, then equip it from your inventory.

Regular Katana vs Fancy Katana: prices and stats

Raze stocks two swords, displayed on separate stands beside him. The purchase prompt writes the cost with a dollar sign, but it is spending the same Wen you earn from quests and mobs.

KatanaPriceRarity and stats
Regular Katana500 WenCheapest sword Raze sells
Fancy Katana1,500 WenUncommon, +1 Additional Damage

The Fancy Katana has the higher listed quality, but the game makes clear that the difference is minor. Its description says: “A road katana with more polish than the battles it normally encounters, but no extra sharpness to match.” When you are level 5 or 6 and low on cash, the 500 Wen choice is enough for the early bandit quests.

Raze’s sword shop location in Windy Peak

Raze stands in the village at Windy Peak, the same starting zone where you set your spawn at the purple crystal. From the mountain path, head down into the village streets and look for the stall with two katana display stands next to it.

If the streets turn you around, open the map. Raze has his own NPC marker, and the minimap in the top-right corner tracks it as you move.

How to buy and equip the katana

Walk up to Raze and interact with him to open his weapon list. The two katanas appear as separate entries you can highlight.
Select the sword you want. A confirmation box appears reading “Would you like to purchase ‘Regular Katana’ for $500 each?” or “Would you like to purchase ‘Fancy Katana’ for $1500 each?”, with Buy and Cancel options.

Press Buy. The Wen is deducted immediately and the sword drops into your inventory rather than into your hands.
Open your inventory, find the sword under the Katana tab, click it and press Equip. It slots into your primary hotbar slot.

Confirming the katana is equipped

Two things tell you it worked. Your character visibly draws the blade when you attack, and basic light attacks become slashes instead of punches. Your mastery panel also changes: Sword Mastery is tracked separately from Fist Mastery and starts at Lv. 1 (EXP 0/100), then ticks up as you land sword hits.

If you are still throwing fists, the sword is sitting in your inventory unequipped. Go back into the Katana tab and press Equip again.

Earning the Wen for a katana

You start with nothing, so the 500 Wen comes from the first quest loop in the village. Talk to Krue and take the quest to defeat three bandits, then repeat it through the early levels. At level 7 his Mini Boss Zuko quest opens up, and Zuko drops chest loot that other players will race you for.

Other villagers hand out their own jobs while you build up funds. Lucy sends you out to Bamboo Grove to kill bears and cubs for bear meat, and Kazu has you clear disguised spies around the village. Clearing each of the village quest-givers at least once is the fastest way to cover the 1,500 Wen for the Fancy Katana if you would rather skip the cheap sword entirely.

Busier servers pay out more EXP from mobs and quests, so a full lobby is worth joining while you grind for the sword money.

What to spend skill points on once you have a sword

A katana solves your damage problem, not your movement problem. Open the menu with M and put your first points into the Innate Skills — Double Jump and Wall Climb — because several later trainer routes and quest areas are unreachable without them. Max Health nodes are the sensible follow-up if fights keep sending you back to spawn.

It is also worth finishing the Recover the Lost Pages quest in the village. It rewards the Book of Guidance, which points you at the next quest in the chain and saves a lot of wandering. Sword Mastery only climbs while you are actually using the katana, so keep it equipped through those early quests rather than switching back to fists.

One caveat if you are weighing up the demon route instead: that path runs on reputation and Muzan’s questline out in places like Mistfall Harbor, Frostvale Village and Hidden Mist Village, and it does not need a sword from Raze to start.
