Jawling is the No. 064 Wind Aniimo with the Break role, and it sits at the Lumin stage of its evolution line. It has exactly one habitat in the world, which makes tracking one down far simpler than most catches at this point in the game.

Quick answer: Jawling spawns in the Russet Highlands at levels 46–51. Head to the bloom teleport point in that region and run north, past the Alpha boss, into the purple flower field. A pack of Jawlings sits there at all hours and in any weather.

Jawling spawn location in Russet Highlands

The Russet Highlands is the only region Jawling appears in, and the wild ones there sit in the Lv. 46–51 band. The densest, most reliable cluster is north of the Alpha boss, right beside the bloom teleport point on the map. Fast travel to that bloom, turn north, and the flower field with the pack is a short sprint away.

If that particular spot is picked clean, the center of the Russet Highlands is the backup. Jawlings gather there in numbers too, so a lap between the two areas keeps a steady supply coming.

There is no timing trick to plan around. Jawlings appear in this habitat regardless of the time of day and regardless of the weather, so there is no need to wait for a cycle or change conditions before heading out.

How to catch Jawling with guaranteed success

Jawlings are a soft catch. Stack the right multipliers and the capture prompt flips from a percentage to a guaranteed result before you even throw.

Equip Aniipod Megas before you approach the pack. The stronger pod applies a x2 multiplier on its own, which does most of the work against a Lv. 46–51 Jawling.
Approach from behind rather than walking straight at the group. A throw that lands on an unaware target from the rear adds the x1.5 Backstab bonus.
Wait for a Jawling to start eating. A target caught mid-meal adds a x2 Eating multiplier, and combined with the pod and the backstab the capture meter reads Guarantee Success.
Throw while the prompt still shows the stacked multipliers. Break stealth or let the Jawling finish eating and the bonuses drop off, pulling the odds back down to a normal roll.

You know it worked when the catch resolves without a struggle animation and the Jawling is added to your roster. A failed throw simply alerts the pack, so back off, let them settle, and line the bonuses up again.

Jawling stats, trait, and skills

Jawling is built around Break rather than raw damage. Its Break value of 76 is its standout number, while attack and magic defense sit near the bottom of the roster. Against elements it attacks well into Dark and Grass, and struggles against Lightning and Wind.

Attribute Value
HP 78
Attack 65
BREAK 76
P.DEF 74
M.DEF 51
REGEN 63
Total 407

Its trait, Counter Strike, raises BREAK efficiency by 25% for 10 seconds after Jawling takes a hit, which suits a creature meant to absorb pressure and crack shields. Twining into Jawling grants the Bilateral mobility skill, switching your view to a different perspective. In the Homeland it covers two jobs, Carry at Lv. 1 and Wind at Lv. 1.

Skill Cost / Power Effect
Wind Tackle 15 EP / 45 Tackles and pushes small-sized targets, then gains 15% damage reduction for 10s.
Overcharged Claw Strike 20 EP / 68 Claws a target for damage.
ATK (innate) Basic / 6 Close-range Wind attack.

Jawling evolution: Helmwhelp, Helgon, and Infergon

Jawling evolves into Helmwhelp once it reaches Aniimo level 38. Since wild Jawlings already spawn at 46–51, a fresh catch is typically past that threshold and ready to evolve immediately.

Helmwhelp then splits at level 48. The Wind path leads to Helgon and the Fire path leads to Infergon, and each one has an unlock condition you must satisfy before the option appears.

Evolution Requirements Cost
Jawling → Helmwhelp Aniimo level 38
Helmwhelp → Helgon (Wind) Aniimo level 48; open 30 Chests in the World cumulatively Gust Stone
Helmwhelp → Infergon (Fire) Aniimo level 48; Potential reaches the Perfect rating; defeat the Omega Infergon Blaze Stone

The Infergon route is the strict one. Perfect Potential is not something you can force after the fact, so if that is the endpoint you want, check the Potential rating on each Jawling you catch before committing resources to it. The Helgon route only asks for chest progress, which accumulates naturally as you explore.

Jawling research points and field notes

Catching one Jawling is only the first tick. Research objectives run in tiers, and you have to report at an outpost before the points actually register.

Objective Tiers
Defeat this Aniimo ×5, ×10, ×20, ×40
Defeat this Aniimo using a Lightning skill ×1, ×2, ×5, ×10
Catch this Aniimo ×10, ×50, ×100, ×1,000
Complete the evolution of this Aniimo ×1, ×2, ×4, ×8

Four field notes each add 50 research points, and each one unlocks by catching Jawling in a specific situation rather than by grinding numbers. You need to encounter a Mountain Form Jawling in the ruins, drop a rubber duck near a Jawling, photograph one arguing with a Helmut, and blend in with the Jawlings guarding a treasure chest.

Star thresholds are 110 points for the first star, 80 for the second, 130 for the third, and 190 for the fourth. Since the Russet Highlands pack respawns continuously, the catch and defeat tiers are best cleared in the same flower field you used for your first capture, alternating between throwing pods and fighting.

The practical takeaway is that Jawling costs you travel time and nothing else. One bloom teleport, one run north, and a pod throw timed to a feeding animation is enough to leave with a creature that is already past its evolution level.
