A Room with a Garou is one of the shortest secondary quests in RuneScape: Dragonwilds, and it involves no combat objective at all. An elderly, blind garou named Caratacus the Elder is sitting on a ruined wooden foundation in the Fractured Plains, and he wants a house built around him — the one he never got around to making for his late wife, Cliodhina. The whole thing comes down to wood, walls and a roof.
Quick answer: Talk to Caratacus the Elder in the northwestern Fractured Plains, build four walls and a roof around him using at least 20 ash logs, then speak to him again.

Head to the northwestern corner of the Fractured Plains. Caratacus stands on a broken wooden deck overlooking the water, marked with the secondary quest icon once you get close enough for it to appear on your map.

If you are approaching from the east, the deck sits close to where the Fractured Plains meets the Stormtouched Highlands, so the border between those two areas is a useful navigation cue. Walk up to him and interact to accept the quest — he cannot see who you are, but he asks for help anyway.

Materials needed to build the house
Ash logs are the cheapest way to finish this, and the trees you need are already in the woods next to the deck. The minimum viable build is four walls and a single roof section covering the floor space.
- At least 20 ash logs, or an equivalent amount of another building material
- 4 walls (cabin walls work, and one can be a door frame)
- 1 roof section, with roof support walls if your walls sit low
Bring more than 20 logs. Adding a door, extra roof supports or a second row of walls to close gaps pushes the total higher, and running back to the trees mid-build is the main thing that drags this quest out.
How to build the home around Caratacus

Hostile wildlife can wander in while you are building. A Garou Berserker can turn up at the cabin entrance mid-construction, so be ready to break off and fight before going back to placing pieces.

How to confirm the quest is complete
Talk to Caratacus again once the walls and roof are up. If he tells you a roof still needs to go over the structure, the enclosure is not finished — go back and patch the ceiling, then speak to him once more.
When it registers, a QUEST COMPLETE notification appears on screen and the quest closes out in your journal. The three new build pieces also show up in your build menu right away, which is the easiest way to double-check it went through.

Rewards: unlocked building decorations
- Hanging Tools
- Pots on a Bench
- Sawhorse
All three are cosmetic decorations for your own base rather than gear or stat upgrades. None of them change how you play, but they fill out an empty workshop or cabin interior nicely. Given that the whole quest takes a handful of minutes and needs nothing but wood, it is worth clearing while you are already in the northwest of the Fractured Plains.
