Slayer 2: How to Get Max Mastery Fast

The level cap turns quest EXP into mastery, while dungeon points, Tundra guards, and Ranked wins cover everything below it.

The level cap turns quest EXP into mastery, while dungeon points, Tundra guards, and Ranked wins cover everything below it.

Mastery is the number that decides how hard you hit and how many moves you actually have access to in Slayer 2. It sits on each weapon, each breathing technique, and each evil art separately, which is why grinding it feels endless if you are doing it by hand. The good news is that the game has a few systems that pay out mastery in bulk, and one of them only switches on once you stop gaining player levels.

Quick answer: Hit the level cap of 225, then farm Crow or Muzan boss quests in a server full of high-level players of your race. Below cap, run Ouwigahara Normal and trade tower points.

Why the level cap of 225 is the real mastery unlock

Standard quests hand out player EXP for most of the game. Once you are capped at 225, there is nowhere for that EXP to go, so the game converts those same quest rewards into mastery for your weapon, your breathing technique, and your evil art instead. Nothing about the quests changes. The payout line on the reward simply becomes mastery.

That is the single biggest jump in mastery per hour available, and it is why players who are still climbing toward the cap should treat leveling as the priority rather than grinding mastery the slow way. Everything below is either a way to reach that point faster or a way to top up mastery while you get there.

Boss quest farming from the Crow or Muzan

Once you reach level 125, boss-hunt quests become available. Slayers get them through their Kasugai Crow; Demons ring their bell, travel back to Muzan’s Lair, and accept the contracts from Muzan himself. The objectives draw from the same small set of names you will kill hundreds of times, such as Eliminate Gyorei, Eliminate Shinora, and Eliminate Tengai.

Check the server before you commit

Quest payouts are not fixed. They scale with how many high-level players of your own race are sitting in the server with you, which means two lobbies can offer wildly different rewards for the exact same boss. Private servers pay noticeably less than public ones for this reason.

The check takes seconds. Join a server, open the quest menu, and read the reward numbers. If they look low, hop to another server and read them again. Only settle in once you find a lobby where the board is clearly paying more. Bringing high-level friends into the lobby with you is a way to push those numbers up on purpose.

The farming loop

Accept a boss quest from your Crow or from Muzan. Pick whichever target is currently listed rather than waiting for a specific one, since the reward matters more than the boss.
Fast travel to the shrine closest to that boss. Unlocking the shrines around the map first, including Bamboo Grove, Mistfall Harbor, Stone Sanctuary, and Frost Veil Shrine, is what keeps the loop short.
Kill the boss, collect the reward, and immediately take the next quest. Repeat without detours. The travel time between the shrine and the boss is the only part of the loop you control, so route around it.

Save your double mastery potion until after you have found a good server and mapped your route. Activating it while you are still server hopping burns duration you cannot get back.

Ouwigahara dungeon points traded for mastery

If you are below level 125 or stuck in a server with bad scaling, the dungeon is the more reliable option. Access requires level 65 and the completed forge quest from Blacksmith Togane.

Open the Hub menu and choose Ouwigahara Normal. Normal gives you three lives, while Ranked only gives one, so a single mistake in Ranked ends the run and wastes the points you had banked.

Clear floors and pick point cards over stat cards wherever you can afford to. The ones that matter most are the multipliers and the flat trophy bonuses.

  • Grounded, x1.2 points
  • Trophy, +75
  • Fine Trophy, +150
  • Greater Trophy, +375
Take your tower points to the Tower Crystal and exchange them. Mastery can be dumped into any weapon or style you already own, so you can funnel everything into the one build you actually play.

The exchange is confirmed the moment the mastery line for your chosen weapon or style jumps in the menu, for example a Sickles Mastery or Blood Manipulation Mastery entry ticking up several levels at once.

Tundra Tier 3 chest guards

Tier 3 chests scattered around the Tundra are protected by guards that drop roughly 500 mastery each. They are the fallback for anyone who cannot reliably solo a boss or hold their own through a dungeon floor, and the kills come with useful side loot such as Metal Scraps, Refinement Ore, Coin Pouches, and Health Potions.

You do not need to carry the fight either. Tagging the guards alongside a higher-level player still counts, which makes this the most forgiving mastery source in the game for underleveled characters. Areas like Iceveil Valley are where these guarded chests sit.

Ranked PvP wins

Winning Ranked matches pays mastery, and the 1v1 queue in particular hands out percentage-based EXP per victory, which makes it a decent early-game way to push toward the level cap. It works across the 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3 formats.

Ranked 1v1 victories pay out percentage-based EXP, which helps most before you reach the cap. Shown at 05:11 in tana’s video.

As a pure grind, though, it is the weakest option on the list. Queue times and match length are outside your control, and a long series of close fights can eat more time than a full dungeon run for less mastery. Treat it as the method for players who enjoy the fights anyway, not as the one you sit down to farm.

Confirming your mastery is going up

Mastery is tracked per weapon and per style, so check the individual entries rather than a single overall number. Lines like Sword Mastery, Spear Mastery, Gauntlet Mastery, or Blood Manipulation Mastery each carry their own level, and the one that moves is the one tied to whatever you had equipped when the reward landed.

If you are at the cap and a quest is still showing EXP instead of mastery on its reward line, you are not getting the conversion, and no amount of running that quest will help. Fix the lobby first, confirm the board is quoting mastery, and only then start the loop.
