Project Slayers 2: How to Get the Fishing Rod and Catch Fish

The permit quest, both rod prices, and the catch minigame at the Mistfall Harbor docks.

The permit quest, both rod prices, and the catch minigame at the Mistfall Harbor docks.

Fishing in Slayers 2 is locked behind a permit, not a level. You cannot buy a rod, borrow one, or find one in a chest until Dock Master Sofin signs off on you at the Mistfall Harbor docks, and that whole process comes down to one short fetch quest and a cash payment. Once the permit is in your inventory, the rod vendor is standing a few steps away on the neighbouring pier.

Quick answer: Pay Dock Master Sofin 5,000 Yen at Mistfall Harbor, return the Permit Stamp from the crate across the water, then buy the Basic Fishing Rod from Fisherman Jeso for 3,500 Yen.

What fishing costs in Slayers 2

Bank the money before you make the trip. The permit fee and the cheapest rod together come to 8,500 Yen, and the quest will not start if you cannot cover Sofin’s fee.

The Rare Fishing Rod is not a first-visit purchase. Golden Fish have to be caught first, which means you need the Basic rod in hand before the expensive one is even an option.

Route to Mistfall Harbor

From the Windy Path shrine, run out through the Wilderness and into Bamboo Grove, then keep following the road past Giyen. The path drops downhill toward the coast and ends at the wooden harbor piers. If you lose the thread, open the map and steer by the named areas — Mistfall Harbor is labelled once you are close enough.

Earn a Fishing Permit quest

Walk to the far end of the main wooden dock and talk to Dock Master Sofin. He asks for 5,000 Yen up front, and accepting starts the quest “Earn a Fishing Permit” with two objectives on the tracker.
Turn around and jump into the water behind the dock. Swim across to the smaller wooden platform on the other side and climb up onto the ledge.
Beside the blue-draped crate, you’ll find the Permit Stamp resting on its wooden top. Move alongside it, press T, and collect it; the tracker changes to “Permit Stamp found 1/1”.
Swim back to Sofin and hand the stamp in. He pays out a Fishing Permit, a Health Potion, and a chunk of EXP that is large enough to push most players a full level.

Grab the stamp on the way past if you are already in the water — the crate stays in the same spot whether or not the quest is active.

Buying a rod from Fisherman Jeso

Jeso sits on a stack of crates on the pier next to Sofin’s dock, with the rods propped up beside him. You interact with the rods themselves rather than the NPC, which brings up a confirmation window for whichever one you clicked.

Basic Fishing Rod

At 3,500 Yen, this is the only option you can realistically buy on your first visit. The description presents it as a simple permit rod for routine fishing in Mistfall; its line may be refined, but it cannot extend into deep water. With a catch tier of Common, it brings in standard harbor fish, including the Sea Horse.

Rare Fishing Rod

The upgrade costs 10,000 Yen and 5 Golden Fish. Since Golden Fish come out of the water, this is a second-stage purchase you work toward after the Basic rod is already earning you catches.

How to cast and win the fishing minigame

Open your inventory, find the Basic Fishing Rod, and equip it into your hotbar. The rod has to be the item in your hands — holding a katana will just swing the katana.

Stand at the pier edge or on one of the crates by the water, then left-click (M1) on the water to cast the line. There is a short wait while the hook sits before anything bites.
Once the minigame starts, use M1 in brief presses to keep the white bar within the yellow one as it moves. Pressing and holding lifts the white bar, while releasing lowers it, so avoid holding the button continuously.
Keep tracking the yellow bar until the progress meter fills to 100%, then press T to collect the fish.

How to confirm it worked

Three checkpoints tell you the chain has gone through correctly:

  • Sofin’s turn-in shows “Fishing Permit x1” and “Health Potion x1” in the reward popup.
  • The rod appears in your inventory with its name and Catch Tier listed on the description panel.
  • A successful minigame ends with a named fish, such as Sea Horse, dropping into your inventory.

From there it is a loop. Cast, clear the bar, collect, and repeat along the harbor until you have banked enough Golden Fish and Yen to trade up to the Rare rod. You can jump straight into the current build on the Slayers 2 Roblox page and run the permit quest in a few minutes once you have the 5,000 Yen.
