WARDOGS Gold Bars Explained: The Gold Exchange and Season Resets

WARDOGS runs on two currencies, and only one of them survives a progression reset. Cash pays for the rifle you carry into your next life. Gold Bars pay for the paint on it — and they stay on your account after everything else is wiped.

Quick answer: Gold Bars are WARDOGS’ cosmetic-only endgame currency. You buy them with banked cash at the Gold Exchange’s daily rate, the trade is one-way, and bars survive every season reset.

Gold Exchange rate: what one Gold Bar costs

A single daily rate applies until midnight UTC, meaning every bar converted that day uses the same cash amount. On 20 September 2026, one bar was worth $1,558,250; that matched the previous day’s figure and marked a 32.4 percent decline over the week.

DateCash per barMarker
20 Aug 2026$251,384Cheapest on record
10 Sept 2026$2,798,240Early Access launch, record high
15 Sept 2026$2,113,114Mid-month slide begins
18 Sept 2026$1,470,113Two-week low
20 Sept 2026$1,558,250Latest published rate

The market can move violently: on 10 September, the figure rose by nearly $2 million in 24 hours before sliding for the following week and a half. BULKHEAD has disclosed neither the formula behind the daily rate nor any lower or upper limit, leaving the figure displayed by your client when you convert as the only dependable number.

The graph on the exchange panel is the only forecasting tool anyone has. Check the week-on-week direction before a large conversion rather than converting the moment you open the menu.

How to convert cash into Gold Bars

Open the Gold Market from the main menu. The panel shows your cash balance, your current bar count, and the Gold Exchange option alongside the cosmetics on sale.
Select the Gold Exchange and read the rate on screen. That figure is the cash cost of one bar for the rest of the UTC day, so the number you see is the number you will pay.
Confirm the exchange. Your cash balance drops and your bar count rises immediately — that change in the two counters on the market screen is the confirmation that the trade went through.

The conversion runs in one direction only. Bars cannot be turned back into cash, and the exchange states the rule plainly in its own info text:

Since gold’s exchange rate fluctuates, time the conversion for the best return. After a Gold Bars exchange is made, it cannot be sold or refunded.

Treat every conversion as final. Cash you turn into bars is cash you no longer have for a mid-match vehicle or a rebuilt loadout, and no refund path exists.

Gold Market prices: what bars buy, in bars and in cash

Bars spend on weapon skins, vehicle skins and emotes, priced in four tiers. Twenty items sit on the market, and the cash column below is each tier converted at the 20 September rate.

CostCosmeticsCash equivalent
30 barsBlack & Gold AK74$46,747,500
15 barsDigital Wood Sport Parachute; Two Tone Desert AMR 50, M249 SAW, MH-6$23,373,750
10 barsDigital Wood M4, SV98; Two Tone Desert AMP-9, Dune Buggy, Humvee, M4, M500$15,582,500
5 barsDigital Wood GGX 17; Two Tone Desert A-91, Bobcat, Bushmaster M17S, KH-2002; Middle Finger, Rock Paper Scissors and Shh emotes$7,791,250

The Black & Gold AK74 is the outlier at double the next tier, and that is deliberate. BULKHEAD’s Howard Philpott has described it as a limited-edition, high-investment unlock meant to mark a seasonal achievement rather than a routine purchase.

Everything below that tier is ordinary camo work and emotes. The Digital Wood set covers the M4, SV98, GGX 17 and the Sport Parachute, while Two Tone Desert spreads across rifles, sidearms, the M249 SAW, the AMR 50 and a handful of vehicles.

Skins do not change weapon, vehicle or gear stats

A camo changes the surface and nothing else. The Bushmaster M17S still fires 5.56x45mm at 700 rounds per minute for 28.0 damage per shot, with 65.8 on a headshot and 11.2 through body armour, whether or not it is wearing Two Tone Desert. Its muzzle velocity stays at 715 m/s and it weighs 3.17 kg either way.

The same split applies to gear and vehicles. The Sport Parachute costs $1,000 in cash, weighs 9.0 kg, is single use, must be deployed manually and unlocks at Wardog level 35 behind a one-time $25,000 fee. A Digital Wood skin for it costs 15 bars and changes none of that.

The Dune Buggy tells the same story. It is a $1,500 cash purchase from the vehicle vendor in your faction’s safe zone, unlocked at Driver level 8 for a one-time $25,000 fee, seating three and topping out at 130.0 km/h. Bars only buy its paint.

Cash vs Gold Bars: which balance to hold

Cash is working capital. It buys weapons, equipment, utilities and vehicles, it carries over between matches, and you re-equip out of it every time you die. Bars are stored value and cannot be spent on anything that fires, drives or heals.

  • Cash is earned in matches, and teamplay actions such as revives, builds, transport and objective work pay well.
  • The shifting Hot Zone pays double cash, making it the fastest legitimate way to build a balance.
  • Bars come from exchanged cash and nothing else — there is no drop, reward track or bundle that grants them.
  • Big-ticket hardware stays on the cash side, so a tank is a cash grind, never a gold one.

The practical rule is to keep enough cash on hand to field a full loadout for several lives, then convert what is genuinely surplus. Converting down to nothing leaves you buying scraps at the vendor for the rest of the session.

Season resets: cash and XP go, Gold Bars stay

When a major update cycle concludes, the game clears both level progression and cash. Any cash left in your account is automatically converted into Gold Bars, preserving its value by moving it into the permanent economy at the rate then in effect.

Reset dates are disclosed beforehand. No Season 1 end date has been published, and no repeating schedule has been confirmed, so every precise wipe date currently circulating is speculation.

Can you buy Gold Bars with real money?

No. BULKHEAD says in-game cash and gold bars must come from gameplay rather than monetization, and has also promised not to sell camos directly because a camo should represent effort instead of spending.

There is no battle pass, no premium currency and no cash shop in the game. The one paid item during Early Access is the $12.99 Supporter Pack on the WARDOGS Steam store page, which contains faction weapon camos, a Littlebird “Taxi” camo, a scoreboard tag and two bobbleheads — a separate set of cosmetics that does not touch the Gold Market.

Anything advertising Gold Bar generators or exploit farming is a scam and a ban risk. The cash economy is monitored, and exploit farming is actioned.

The whole system comes down to one decision you make on the exchange screen. Cash you keep is firepower that expires at the end of the cycle; cash you convert is a skin you own forever, bought at whatever the rate happened to be that day. Watch the graph, keep a working balance, and convert the surplus when the line is low.
