Slayers 2: How to Complete Final Selection (Full Walkthrough)

Final Selection is the exam that turns your character in Slayers 2 from a villager with a sword into an actual Demon Slayer. It is a timed event on a fog-covered mountain above the Butterfly Estate, and it runs as a chain of ten short quests that ends with a boss fight against the Hand Demon. Finish it and you walk away with a Slayer Uniform, a crafting ingot, and a Kasugai Crow.

Quick answer: Reach level 45, fast travel to the Butterfly Estate Shrine during an even-numbered hour, then clear all ten quests on the platform and defeat the Hand Demon.

Final Selection requirements and spawn times

Two conditions gate the event, and neither can be worked around. Your character must be at least level 45, and the event itself only opens every two hours, on even-numbered hours. If you arrive at an odd hour, the entrance will not be active and you will simply be standing on an empty mountain.

Minimum level: 45.
Spawn cycle: every 2 hours, at even hours.
Starting point: Butterfly Estate Shrine.
Final boss: Hand Demon.

Equip a lantern before you start. The mountain is covered in dark fog by default, and holding a lantern clears it, which makes finding quest NPCs and dropped items dramatically faster.

Codes to redeem before your attempt

Two codes are currently active, and one of them is genuinely useful right before the exam. SKILLTREERESET refunds your skill points, which lets you rebuild your character around survivability and traversal before the parkour and boss sections. Release26 is the other working code.

How to reach the Final Selection platform

Open your map and fast travel to the Butterfly Estate Shrine. From the shrine, follow the mountain path upward — there is a shortcut route that leads straight to the platform where the exam begins, so you do not need to loop around the estate. Once you are on the platform, the quest chain starts on its own and objectives appear on the left side of the screen.

All ten quests run in a fixed order, each handed out by a different NPC. Use this as your checklist while you work through the mountain.

Final Selection walkthrough

Find Rem on the cliff near the start of the mountain and speak with him. He asks for one Apple, one Banana, and one bunch of Grapes.

Stay nearby while collecting the trio: find the Grapes beneath a tree, the Apple lying below Rem’s cliff, and the Banana resting on a close ledge. Return the fruit to Rem to finish the quest.

Head to Vael, who asks you to kill 5 Lesser Demons. They roam the path around him, so clear them as you move and return to Vael once the counter fills.

Speak to Klien, who has lost his Nichirin Katana. Travel southwest from his position and look for the katana glowing green on the ground, then bring it back to him.

Klien next sends you to Rika, who works as a doctor. Get a bandage from her for 25 Yen, go back to Klien, then win the quick-time mini-game to tend his wounds.

Locate Mizunoto, who sends you after an enemy called Lost and a Submerged Key. Travel northwest to the waterfall, dive into the pond, and swim into the underwater cave.

Kill The Lost Slayer inside the cave, collect the key, and swim back out to report to Mizunoto.

Enter The Dungeon and work through the parkour course. Pull the levers you pass to open the gates ahead, and treat every spike trap as lethal — they kill instantly and send you back to the last checkpoint. Speak to Mizunoto at the dungeon exit to complete it.

Find Lavato, who starts the mountain survival run. Four checkpoints are marked on your screen — ride to each one in turn. Levi is waiting at the final checkpoint.

To complete Levi’s request, remain in the red circle until the zone changes to captured. During that time, defeat every demon that appears, then collect the civilian and bring them to Levi.

Find Steve, who introduces the Hand Demon. Defeat it to finish the exam, then loot the chests that appear in the arena.

Hand Demon loot and Final Selection rewards

Completing the exam grants three fixed rewards, and they are the reason the run matters. The Crude Iron Ingot in particular is the key to the katana upgrade.

The chests around the Hand Demon arena drop separately from those rewards. Possible finds include a Coin Pouch, a Demonic Lantern, Metal Scraps, a Nihon Kushimaki, Silk Thread, and a Sweet Dreams Eye Mask.

How to forge the upgraded katana with the Crude Iron Ingot

The upgraded blade is not handed to you at the end of the exam — you have to craft it. Fast travel to the Hidden Mist Village Shrine and go to the Armoury, where Yagane is standing. Choose the “Forge me a blade” option and spend your Crude Iron Ingot on one of three recipes.

All three share the same stat line, so the choice comes down to appearance rather than performance. Any of them is a clear step up from the Regular Katana you bought back at Raze’s shop in Windy Peak, which has no stat bonuses at all.

How to confirm you passed Final Selection

You will know the exam registered when the Slayer Uniform, Crude Iron Ingot, and Kasugai Crow land in your inventory after the Hand Demon fight. From there, open the Slayer Progress menu — it now tracks your rank, and maxing it at Lv 4 gives +100 Max Health, a Breathing Boost, and a +0.08 Max Health Factor.

Equip the Kasugai Crow once the dust settles. It issues repeatable tasks that push your level up quickly, which is the cleanest way to start closing the gap toward the level 65 Forge quest and the better katanas that come with it.
