Where to find the number 496 0556
The number comes from the Medical Center Security Note, a sheet of paper taped to the window of the security booth outside the locked gate in Coastal District — North. The note states that the Medical Centre is off-limits and tells staff to contact Dr. Glenn at 496 0556. You have to examine it in person; the game will not let you dial the number before you read it.
Monsters patrol the area around the booth. Carry a bottle or brick so you can throw it, pull them away from the window, and then grab the note while their attention is elsewhere.
Your active objective at this point reads “Report to the Medical Centre,” which you can confirm in the menu alongside your First Aid Kit and lighter.
Which phone booth to use
Leave the Medical Center behind by crossing the street, then go to the public phone booth where Station Road meets Commercial Road. Thick red fog covers the run; stay in the alleys and steer clear of the figures in the street instead of fighting through them.
Open the booth door, step inside, and interact with the payphone. Lift the receiver and either pick Dr. Glenn from the Discovered Phone Numbers list or type 4960556 manually, then confirm with “OK.”
Phones double as save points. Dialing 100 from any booth saves your game, so it is worth doing before you make the run back to the gate.

In plain terms, you identify yourself as Zoe Ellis, state that you are a nurse, describe the patient as neglected, and then accept the blame for Mr. Stewart’s death. The last one is the answer players hesitate on, but taking responsibility is what pushes the call through to Dr. Glenn.
How to confirm the call worked
A correct sequence drops you straight into a cutscene. Dr. Glenn speaks to Zoe dismissively over the line, orders her to report to surgery, and says he will unlock the gate himself. Zoe then lowers the handset and hangs up.
Two things change immediately after the call. The gate to the St. Amelia Medical Center is now open, and the town shifts from day to night, which puts more monsters on the streets. Expect a noise outside the booth the moment Zoe hangs up.
496 0556 is one of the numbers that counts toward the Cold Calling trophy, and because it is required for story progress, you cannot miss it on a Zoe playthrough.
Getting from the open gate into the Medical Center
From there, Zoe’s chapter moves inside St. Amelia Medical Center and Dr. Glenn’s voice returns over the loudspeaker in the operating room, so the note and the number have done their job by this point.
