The most unsettling moment in Version 7.1’s Snezhnaya storyline is not a fight. It is a short, almost procedural beat in which Vesna walks the room collecting Seals of Life from everyone present, reaches Anastasya last, and stops mid-sentence.
Quick answer: Vesna draws a Seal of Life from the Tsaritsa and finds no memories inside it — only an endless expanse of white snow — while Anastasya’s life force itself remains completely intact.
What Vesna finds inside Anastasya’s Seal of Life
With the Cryo Archon before her, Vesna shapes luminous power between her palms and begins formally: “At last, Your Majesty. Please pardon the interruption…” A startled “Huh!?” cuts her off before the extraction is complete.

The Jester notices the pause and asks what is wrong. Vesna says nothing is. Her internal monologue says otherwise: the Tsaritsa’s Seal of Life carries no memories whatsoever, just an unbroken field of white snow. The strange part is that the life force in it is not weak or damaged. It is whole.

Vesna never reports this out loud. Every other character in the chamber continues the meeting as if the collection went normally, which means the finding stays with her and the player.

| The Jester | Asks her what is wrong |
| Vesna | Says nothing is wrong, hides the empty seal |
| Mitya | Asks whether the Seals will be enough |

The assembly breaks up across the blue metal platform, and Regrator hangs back to raise lingering doubts privately. Anastasya does not dismiss him — she invites him to walk and talk instead.
Why Snezhnaya is harvesting Seals of Life
This is practical, not ceremonial: Mitya asks The Jester outright whether the collected Seals of Life can truly oppose the Ruler of Death. Marionette says the current supply is enough to begin research; additional seals can be obtained afterward if the work requires them.

Anastasya then assigns Mitya to Sandrone, with orders to run experiments on how life force can be applied against the Ruler of Death. That is the throughline for the whole version: Snezhnaya is trying to weaponize life itself because Project Mistilteinn has stalled, its technological progress blocked by Ronova’s authority over Death.
Vesna’s ability to draw these seals is not a Fatui invention either. She describes the Seals of Life as a power handed to her ancestors through an old contract, which is what makes her the one holding the glowing energy in the first place.
The threat approaches on two fronts. Rhinedottir, known as the Ruler of Life, goes to Snezhnaya to meet the Tsaritsa in person. Thus, both Rulers of Life and Death are within one nation as the Cryo Archon readies her offensive against the Heavenly Principles.
How the scene connects to the Gnoses and Zapolyarny Palace
Version 7.1 finally explains what the Gnoses are for. The Tsaritsa has been gathering them in part to amplify her own power against the Heavenly Principles, drawing on strength that originates outside Teyvat because the Gnoses are the remains of the Third Descender.
Another motive is involved. The Third Descender’s last seal lies within Zapolyarny Palace, and only the Tsaritsa plus a small group in her inner circle knows of it. The seal responds to the Gnoses and seemingly requires all seven for its destruction. Progress has stopped short because the Pyro Gnosis remains absent.
Set against that, an empty Seal of Life reads very differently. A ruler with centuries of history behind her should not have a memory record that contains nothing but snow, and Vesna’s silence about it is the loose thread the quest leaves dangling.
Vesna in Version 7.1: Playable debut and banner
As the Druzhna’s Commander, Vesna serves as the Tsaritsa’s personal guard and bears the title Snowy Banquet’s Sharp Blade. This 5-star sword wielder from Snezhnaya has the constellation Amentum Vernum; as a Vila, she channels Anemo through a Stellar Linchpin instead of a Vision.
Players first encountered Vesna in Version 7.0 as an NPC exclusive to the Archon Quest Mistilteinn, Chapter VII Act II — Wraith’s Nocturne. Version 7.1 made her playable through the When Warm Winds Cavort Event Wish, which began on September 23, 2026, with Vodyanitsa in the first half. Skirk and Escoffier return in the second half.
In combat, her Stellar Linchpin converts Cryo Swirl into Stellar Swirl and boosts Stellar Swirl damage for the party. Her Elemental Skill builds Sword Essence that directs her Spirit Blades, and her Burst summons another set of blades while restoring Essence. She can also fly outside of combat, and you can swap to her while she is already airborne.
Clearing the Version 7.1 Archon Quest pays out 620 Primogems plus ascension materials for both Vesna and Vodyanitsa, and the Tsaritsa grants the Traveler an official position that opens special court assignments across Snezhnaya.
The voices behind Vesna and the Tsaritsa
Vesna is voiced by Ari Thrash in English, with Gui Niang in Chinese, Aya Hirano in Japanese and Joo Ye-jin in Korean. The Tsaritsa is voiced by Lara Korba in English. Both actors turned up in the sixth anniversary Teyvat Talks segment, where Thrash described Genshin as part of what pushed her toward voice acting and called joining the cast surreal.

The conversation runs through first impressions of Venti, a Hu Tao obsession, an ill-advised email to customer support, and an impromptu duet of the login theme, before a third chibi guest drops in mid-segment in a puff of smoke.

For now, the empty seal stays unexplained in the story itself. Vesna holds the information, the research into life force moves ahead under Sandrone, and Regrator’s private concerns are still unanswered as the meeting breaks up.
