Years of guessing ended in a single line of dialogue. During the Version 7.1 Archon Quest “Light and Shadow, Intertwined,” the Traveler finally gets to ask the Cryo Archon what every other member of The Seven has already been defined by, and Anastasya answers without hedging.
Quick answer: The Tsaritsa’s domain of authority is love. She states it plainly, then says she does not identify with it and has no intention of using it.

Every Archon holds a divine domain that defines their seat among The Seven. Venti is tied to freedom, Morax to contracts, and the Tsaritsa, it turns out, was handed love. The answer lands as a surprise because nothing about Snezhnaya’s politics, the Fatui, or the Harbingers suggests it.

Paimon reacts the way most players will, fumbling for a polite response before comparing the Tsaritsa to the God of Freedom and the God of Contracts. Anastasya’s dry follow-up question, asking whether she really does not strike them as a god of love, is the closest the scene gets to humor.
Where the reveal happens in the 7.1 Archon Quest
The conversation takes place inside the Tsaritsa’s audience chamber, where she receives the Traveler and Paimon and introduces her Head Maid, Danica. It is the same sit-down that covers the fate of the Pyro Gnosis and the sealed crystal left behind by the Third Descender.
Before the question about her authority comes up, Anastasya walks through the Gnoses, the Shades of the Heavenly Principles, and how far Snezhnaya has been forced to push its technology under the threat of a Divine Nail. That context matters, because her answer about love only makes sense against a backdrop of rules she did not choose.
The Traveler’s actual question is a guess, not an open prompt. Having watched Snezhnaya spend centuries preparing to overthrow Celestia, the Traveler asks whether the Tsaritsa’s authority is rebellion against fate. Anastasya corrects that immediately.
Why Anastasya rejects her own authority
Naming the domain is only half the scene. The Tsaritsa immediately distances herself from it, saying she neither identifies with the authority nor intends to use it. Her argument is that the love a god holds for humanity was never freely given in the first place.
Her position rests on three points:
- Divine love for humanity was spoiled by the Heavenly Principles.
- What remains is a mandated curse, not a feeling a god arrives at on their own.
- Accepting it would mean yielding to the very order she intends to overthrow.
This lines up with how the Fatui have long described her. Columbina has said the Tsaritsa has never acknowledged or accepted her own powers, which is why she so rarely uses them.
What the Tsaritsa chooses instead
Rather than perform an emotion she considers false, Anastasya says she will remain herself and carry out her duties as the Tsaritsa. Ruling Snezhnaya, she argues, is something she does by choice, while the authority handed down to her is something she was simply assigned.
She then talks about people fighting for their own destinies, and the phrasing jogs the Traveler’s memory. Venti once made a similar point about freedom, noting how strange it is for an Archon to demand the very thing they are supposed to embody. The parallel is deliberate, and it reframes the Cryo Archon as someone rejecting a divine label rather than lacking one.
Pierro’s arrival and the Transcription Prism
Danica cuts the conversation short to announce Pierro. The Jester enters with a report that preparations are complete for an experiment designed to gather intelligence on Ronova, the Ruler of Death, one of the Shades of the Heavenly Principles.
Before hearing him out, Anastasya steps over to a large hovering crystal to complete her daily memory recording. Pierro explains that a Transcription Prism carries the power of the Third Descender, which places it outside certain laws of Teyvat, including any rewriting of Irminsul. The Tsaritsa does not trust memory on its own, so she keeps an unalterable copy of it. Both the prism and Danica are added to the Chronicles during the scene.
The scene closes with Anastasya reprimanding Danica for cornering the Traveler at the Podvorye Restaurant and warning her not to put that trust at risk. The quest then hands you a new objective, and the achievement “The Seven” pops as the world loads back in, marking the moment you have finally met all of them.
