Version 7.1’s Snezhnaya story spends a long stretch on a single meal, and buried inside that conversation is a straight answer about where Danica learned to fight. She does not hedge, and she does not leave it to a lore entry — she says the name out loud at the table, then demonstrates what the training looked like.
Quick answer: Danica was trained by Mr. Capitano. She names him as the mentor who personally taught her and others martial arts during the Podvorye Restaurant dinner in Light and Shadow, Intertwined.

The reveal happens midway through the meal, not at the start. Danica walks through the dining room, asks to share the Traveler’s table with Paimon, sits down, and orders her usual set meal from owner Nefedov before anything about the Fatui comes up.

She eats and drinks in near silence for a while, watching the Traveler and noting the mix of hostility and curiosity on their face. The food is real table dressing here, and the pause is what sets up the sharper questions that follow.

The first real probe is about motive. Danica asks why the Traveler, who has defeated countless Fatui, now wants an audience with the Tsaritsa, and whether there is something else behind the request.

She then calculates the financial harm the Traveler caused the Fatui and weighs it against their collaborations — first with the House of the Hearth in Fontaine, and later in Natlan. Mentioning Natlan prompts her to reveal that Mr. Capitano had been her mentor, teaching martial arts to her and many others.

What Danica says about Capitano
Her account of him is short but unusually warm for a Fatui operative talking to the Traveler.
- He personally taught her and many others martial arts.
- She calls his death an enormous loss for Snezhnaya and describes him as a trusted comrade.
- She thanks the Traveler directly for helping him fulfill his lifelong wish in Natlan.
The mentor talk does not end the interrogation. Danica pivots to asking how the Traveler sees Her Majesty the Tsaritsa, and the Traveler describes an uneasy cooperation against Ronova rather than trust.

The Mora game is Capitano’s teaching in practice
Right after deciding to assess the Traveler’s threat level, Danica introduces a military pastime she learned from Capitano himself. It was originally used to lift the mood among troops, which is exactly why she treats a restaurant table as a fair venue for it.
- A player tosses a Mora coin upward and tries to make it land on the table.
- The opponent does everything possible to stop the coin from landing.
- The scramble that follows is hand-to-hand, and it spills across the dining room.

Nobody wins it. Vesna steps in mid-duel and catches the falling coin with Anemo, then scolds Danica for dragging military games into a modest restaurant while Danica fires back that Vesna is neglecting her own duty. Vesna orders Caviar Blinis, covers the Traveler’s tab, and leaves.
Vesna trained under Capitano too
Danica is not the only one of the Tsaritsa’s right hands who came up under the Harbinger. Vesna was also trained by Capitano in her youth, which is part of why the interruption reads as a spat between two people taught the same things rather than a stranger breaking up a fight.
Vesna leads the Druzhna, a military branch that predates the Fatui and answers directly to the Tsaritsa, so her authority over the scene does not come from Fatui rank.
Once Danica warns that the two of you will speak again soon about the audience with the Tsaritsa and walks off, control returns to you, the achievement The Deciding Factor pops for 5 Primogems, and the objective updates to “Return to your room to rest.” If you saw that objective change, you have the mentor answer the scene exists to deliver.
