Vanquish the Betrayers is an early Horde quest in Durotar that sends you to Tiragarde Keep to break up a Kul Tiras invasion. It starts and ends with Gar’Thok in Razor Hill, and the whole thing plays out inside a single fortress on the eastern coast. The catch is enemy density: the keep is packed with humans, and the boss sits in a room with guards.
Quick answer: Accept the quest from Gar’Thok, travel southeast to Tiragarde Keep, slay 10 Kul Tiras Sailors, 8 Kul Tiras Marines, and Lieutenant Benedict on the keep’s second floor, then return to Gar’Thok.
Vanquish the Betrayers quick facts
This is a level 7 Horde quest that requires character level 3. It starts and finishes with the same quest giver, so you never leave Durotar to complete it.

You need three kill counts done before the quest will register as complete. The sailors and marines are spread across the outside and inside of the keep, while the lieutenant is a fixed spawn on the upper floor.
- Kul Tiras Sailor slain (10)
- Kul Tiras Marine slain (8)
- Lieutenant Benedict slain (1)
If you are below level 8, bring a friend or two. The mobs cluster tightly, and a solo pull can quickly turn into three or four attackers at once.

Turn in the quest and confirm completion
Once Benedict is down, the tracker shows “Lieutenant Benedict slain: 1/1” and all three objectives read as complete. Leave the keep and run northwest back to Razor Hill, then hand the quest in to Gar’Thok on the bunker.
On turn-in you receive 1 silver 75 copper, roughly 630 experience on original realms (about 870 in Season of Mastery), plus 100 reputation each with Orgrimmar and the Darkspear Trolls. Gar’Thok immediately offers the follow-up, From The Wreckage.
Benedict’s Key and the follow-up chest
Although Benedict’s Key is optional for the kill objectives, it unlocks Benedict’s Chest on the upper ramparts at roughly 59, 57. After exiting Benedict’s room, descend the first short staircase and continue forward rather than going back the way you came. At the ramparts’ end, climb the winding stairs to reach the chest.
Inside the chest is an Aged Envelope, which begins the quest The Admiral’s Orders. Grab the key while you are still in the keep so you do not have to fight your way back in later.
