Encroachment Quest in WoW Classic: Quillboar Locations and Full Walkthrough

Where every Razormane target spawns in Durotar and the safe level to clear them for Gar’Thok.

Encroachment is a Horde kill quest in Durotar that sends you west of Razor Hill to thin out the Razormane tribe. You need to slay four each of four different Quillboar types, all inside a pair of bramble-choked camps. The targets are spread between an outer perimeter and a tougher inner ground, so knowing which enemy sits where saves a lot of running.

Quick answer: Accept Encroachment from Gar’Thok at Razor Hill, kill 4 Razormane Quilboars, 4 Scouts, 4 Dustrunners and 4 Battleguards in the camps west of town, then return to Gar’Thok to turn it in.

Encroachment quest requirements

Encroachment is picked up and handed in at Gar’Thok, who stands atop the watch bunker in Razor Hill. It is a level 10 quest with a minimum requirement of level 6, and it can be shared with other Horde players. Everything happens inside Durotar, so there is no zone travel involved.

  • Start and end: Gar’Thok at Razor Hill
  • Level 10 quest, requires level 6
  • Rewards: 2 silver 50 copper plus quest experience
  • Reputation: 75 with Orgrimmar and 75 with the Darkspear Trolls

Although the quest opens at level 6, plan to be at least level 8 before you tackle the Dustrunners and Battleguards, since those enemies hit much harder than the outer camp.

Where every Razormane target spawns

From Razor Hill, follow the road west to the Razormane Grounds. The camps occupy two areas: weaker Quilboars and Scouts guard the outer perimeter and entrance south of the road; farther southwest, north of the road, are the stronger Dustrunners and Battleguards.

A rare spawn named Geolord Mottle can appear among the Quilboars and Scouts. She is beatable in single combat but tends to heal herself often, so expect a longer fight.

Clear the outer camp: Quilboars and Scouts

Leave Razor Hill and follow the road west until you reach the entrance and outer perimeter of the Razormane Grounds. The first enemies you meet along the edge are Razormane Quilboars and Razormane Scouts.
Work around the perimeter and kill four Razormane Quilboars. The tracker updates each time, showing progress toward 4/4 Razormane Quilboar slain.

In the same area, pick off four Razormane Scouts until the tracker reads 4/4 Razormane Scout slain. Both types share this space, so you can often chain them together without moving far.

Push into the inner ground: Dustrunners and Battleguards

Move southwest along the ridge from the outer camp. Watch for aggressive level 8 Armored Scorpids that patrol this path. They will pull you into extra fights if you run past them carelessly.

Deal with any Armored Scorpid that blocks the path before engaging quest targets. Clearing it first stops it from adding onto a Dustrunner or Battleguard fight.

Enter Dustrunner territory and kill four Razormane Dustrunners. These are level 8 humanoids that can cast Rejuvenation to heal themselves, so bring steady damage to out-pace their healing.
Find the Razormane Battleguards, which range from level 9 to 11 with heavier armor and stronger melee. Top off your health before each pull, take them one at a time, and back off if a fight turns against you. A level 6 or 7 character will struggle here against parries, misses, and high incoming damage.

Turn in Encroachment at Razor Hill

Once all four trackers read 4/4, run back east across Durotar to Razor Hill and climb the bunker to speak with Gar’Thok. Completing the turn-in awards 2 silver 50 copper, quest experience, and 75 reputation each with Orgrimmar and the Darkspear Trolls. When the quest log clears the entry and the rewards appear, the objective is confirmed done and you are ready for your next Razor Hill task.
