Dark Storms Quest Guide: How to Get Fizzle’s Claw in World of Warcraft

Defeat the level 12 warlock Fizzle Darkstorm in Thunder Ridge and return his claw to Orgnil Soulscar.

Defeat the level 12 warlock Fizzle Darkstorm in Thunder Ridge and return his claw to Orgnil Soulscar.

Dark Storms sends Horde players deep into Thunder Ridge to hunt down Fizzle Darkstorm, a Burning Blade warlock hiding in a canyon in northwest Durotar. The single objective is to bring back Fizzle’s Claw, but the goblin hits hard for a low-level target, so most players finish this one faster with a partner than alone.

Quick answer: Defeat Fizzle Darkstorm in Thunder Ridge (northwest Durotar), loot Fizzle’s Claw from his body, then turn it in to Orgnil Soulscar in Razor Hill.

Dark Storms quest requirements and objective

Dark Storms is a Horde quest that both starts and ends with Orgnil Soulscar in Razor Hill. Before it appears, you must finish the short prerequisite Report to Orgnil, which comes from Master Gadrin in Sen’jin Village. Completing Dark Storms later unlocks the follow-up quest Margoz.

The quest sits around level 12 and can display as a red, high-difficulty task when you first receive it. It is sharable, so you can hand it to a group member who has the same objective.

Where to find Fizzle Darkstorm in Thunder Ridge

Fizzle Darkstorm camps inside Thunder Ridge, a deep canyon basin in west-central Durotar near the border with The Barrens. Open your map and head northwest from Razor Hill toward the ridge’s rocky rim. The entrance to the ravine is around 39.4, 32.7, and Fizzle himself sits at roughly 42, 26 on a stone ledge deeper inside the canyon.

You can reach him two ways. Either follow the canyon floor and fight through the Burning Blade guards, or drop down the rock ledges directly into his camp from the rim above. Dropping in is faster, but plan an exit first, because Thunder Lizards and Bloodfury Rippers roam the basin and can catch you on the way out.

How to defeat Fizzle Darkstorm

Fizzle is a caster who throws heavy shadow bolts, and he is guarded by an imp minion that fires flame bolts from a very long range. Several Burning Blade cultists stand nearby, and some are linked, so a careless pull can bring two or three enemies at once. Soloing this at low level is risky, which is why bringing a partner is the safest approach.

Invite another player heading to the same camp and form a party. Set your loot to Group Loot so both members can pick up drops, then move to the ledge where Fizzle stands.

Clear the guards around the camp before touching Fizzle. Pull them one at a time with a ranged attack while Fizzle is at his furthest point, so you avoid pulling him early with a group of adds.
Kill the imp first once you engage Fizzle. Removing the minion cuts off a large chunk of incoming fire damage and makes the caster far more manageable.
Burn down Fizzle Darkstorm. His damage ramps up fast, so use cooldowns and healing early rather than saving them. If you start to lose the fight, pull him back toward your partner so they can finish him.

Fizzle respawns very quickly, often within about a minute, so loot his body immediately after the kill and be ready to leave before he reappears.

Looting Fizzle’s Claw after a death

Dying during this fight does not fail the quest as long as you are grouped and your partner finishes Fizzle while still in the area. His corpse stays lootable, so you can run back and collect Fizzle’s Claw after you resurrect.

Release at the graveyard near Orgrimmar and run back across Durotar as a ghost toward Thunder Ridge.

Return to the rim above Thunder Ridge and drop back down toward the spot where you died. Follow the canyon in, then bear toward Fizzle’s ledge to reach your corpse.

Climb up to Fizzle Darkstorm’s corpse and loot it to receive Fizzle’s Claw. The quest tracker will update to Fizzle’s Claw: 1/1 once the item is in your bags.
Follow the winding canyon path out of the basin. Watch for lizards and other roaming creatures on the way, and use your map to find the exit route around the canyon floor.

Turn in Dark Storms and claim your reward

Take Fizzle’s Claw back to Orgnil Soulscar in Razor Hill and complete the quest. You will receive Tiger Hide Boots along with experience and reputation gains with Orgrimmar and the Darkspear Trolls.

You know the quest is finished when Dark Storms disappears from your quest log and the reward appears in your bags. From there, Orgnil offers the next step in the chain, Margoz, if you want to continue.
