Terry “Shepherd” Musa is getting his first top-tier cosmetic in Delta Force. Called Lament (安魂), and presented in full as LAMENT FOR THE LOST SOULS, it is an Ultimate Appearance built around grief and remembrance rather than the flashy power fantasy that usually drives premium operator sets. The reveal leans into a single line: “The storm keeps its silence. He keeps the names.”
Quick answer: Lament is Shepherd’s first Ultimate Appearance, launching September 26 and available through September 25, 2027. It bundles an operator skin, a themed PKM skin, custom gadget animations, unique execution finishers, and an exclusive match-intro cinematic.
What the Lament bundle includes
Lament is an Operator Research (干员研究) set, the same premium category used for earlier Ultimate Appearances such as Uluru’s Fury and Vyron’s Cosmic Guardian. Rather than a single skin, it reworks how Shepherd looks and behaves across several parts of a match.

| Item | What it changes |
|---|---|
| Operator appearance | Shepherd’s full “Lament” (安魂) cosmetic identity |
| PKM machine gun skin | Themed finish for the PKM universal machine gun |
| Gadget skins | Vinyl-record wrist launcher and a customized grenade |
| Ability effects | Custom red-and-black sonic shockwave visuals |
| Execution animations | Unique third-person melee finishers |
| Match intro and emote | Exclusive entrance cinematic and post-battle emote |
The gadget skins carry a music motif that runs through the whole set. Shepherd’s wrist launcher is styled as a record player, loading and spinning a vinyl disc during inspect animations, and the custom grenade gets its own inspect sequence as well.
The unique execution animation is tied to the appearance itself. Previous Ultimate sets did not let players equip that finisher separately, so the skin is what changes part of your on-screen presentation during a match.
The look: desert, vinyl, and dog tags
The design gives Shepherd a heavy Mad Max silhouette. He wears a dark wide-brimmed cowboy hat trimmed with barbed wire, sunglasses, a combat vest, and a tattered tactical cape, with a red-and-black cybernetic right arm that houses the record-player launcher.

The trailer frames the whole thing as a lone journey. Shepherd crosses vast dunes rippled into circular patterns that resemble the grooves of a vinyl record, moving toward a massive naval ship stranded in the sand beneath a ring-shaped sun.

That record motif is literal. A turntable stylus repeatedly drops onto a spinning red disc, tying the “lament” idea to a piece of music that plays through the cinematic.

The tagline’s “names” refer to dog tags. Shepherd raises a brass pendant he took from a fallen ally, with rows of tags covering his chest; together, they give the outfit the feel of a tribute rather than an ordinary combat redesign.

Sonic gadget skins and ability effects
Shepherd is an Engineer operator whose kit revolves around sonic control, and Lament reskins that hardware instead of changing how it works. His signature Sonic Paralysis and Sonic Trap keep their function, but the appearance adds custom red-and-black shockwave visuals when the abilities fire.
The wrist gauntlet becomes the centerpiece. In gameplay footage the red cybernetic arm launches a spinning disc that expands into a large dome-shaped sonic field, and the same launcher loads a vinyl sleeve during its inspect animation.

Alongside the gadget effects, the set includes a matching PKM universal machine gun skin with its own inspect animation and sustained-fire showcase, plus the melee execution finishers that slam or take down enemies with sonic force.
Release date and availability window
Lament goes live on September 26 and stays available through September 25, 2027, giving the appearance a full-year window on store timers marked 2026.9.26–2027.9.25. It launches on PC, iOS, and Android.
The date is not arbitrary. September 26 is the central day of Delta Force’s second-anniversary celebration inside the Season 11: Reorientation update, which also delivers the Layali Grove 2.0 Operations overhaul, The Mog Warfare map, and new weapons such as the MDR and Thompson.
That same day opens the main wave of anniversary rewards. From September 26 through October 25, login and match objectives hand out up to 3,900 Limited-Time Delta Tickets, and logging in on the 26th plus finishing one match guarantees 1,000 tickets through the Day 1 Gift Box.
What is not confirmed yet
Team Jade has confirmed the appearance and the launch date, but the full itemized breakdown is not published. The final prize pool, exact price, any additional accessories, and the precise way you acquire Lament should be treated as unconfirmed until the store announcement appears.
Past Ultimate Appearances offer a ballpark for the scale. Fury’s Operator Research event accepted Delta Coins, Limited-Time Delta Tickets, or Delta Tickets as payment. Securing the operator appearance also granted every other reward in the pool while it was active. Lament’s structure has not been confirmed, so don’t count on free anniversary tickets covering a particular amount.
You will know Lament is live when the Operator Research event and its store page appear in-game on September 26. Until the store rules are posted, the reveal is selling the character concept first and leaving the economic details for launch day.
