The Legendary Journey: Trail of Butterfly Shadows is the Season 1 event built around one goal in Aniimo: gathering enough Irisalis Petals to craft a special Aniipod that lets you hunt down the Legendary Aniimo, Irisalis. The petals drift in from almost every corner of the game, so the real question is how to bank them fast enough to hit the crafting threshold.

Quick answer: Collect 99 Irisalis Petals between September 16 and December 9, 2026, then craft the Legendary Aniipod in the Walking with Irisalis stage to track and catch Irisalis.

Event dates and the petal target

The event is a long one, giving you nearly three months to pull petals together. The number you need never changes, so treat the whole run as a slow drip toward 99.

Irisalis Petals are treated as a currency. Beyond the Aniipod for Irisalis, they also go toward crafting the Legendary Aniipod: Departure with the Wind and can be spent in the Legendary Journey event shop, so hold anything spare rather than dumping it early.

Where to get Irisalis Petals

Petals come from ordinary play across Idyll, not one dedicated grind. The steadiest sources are:

Irisalis

  • Gathering petals scattered around Idyll
  • Progressing through the main story and Journey quests
  • Clearing Elite Pathfinder challenges
  • Earning Silver Badges
  • Making progress in the Tracing the Trail event
  • Buying them from the Stamp Shop

Buying petals from the Stamp Shop

The Stamp Shop sells Irisalis Petals directly, but it is capped. Each petal costs 50 Stamps, and you can buy a maximum of 4 per week. Because the limit resets weekly, the earlier in the event you start topping up, the more petals you can convert before December 9.

The weekly cap means you cannot buy your way to 99 at the last minute, so fold the four purchases into your routine each week rather than saving Stamps for one big shop.

Free petals from the main story

The main story quietly hands over 12 Irisalis Petals across its final three chapters. That is more than a tenth of the total for free, so if you have not finished the campaign, do it before hunting elsewhere.

The Chapter 4 quest, The Land of Dancing Illusions, is one of the better single-step payouts, dropping a petal on its own alongside its other rewards. Bank whatever the story gives you instead of spending it as soon as it lands.

Farming petals through Tracing the Trail dispatches

The Tracing the Trail: The Shadow of Legend event is a dispatch system that runs alongside the petal hunt and pays Irisalis Petals as one of its rewards. You send Aniimo out to investigate clue areas, wait out a timer, and collect what they bring back. It is passive income you can queue while you play.

Open the Events menu and pick Tracing the Trail: The Shadow of Legend. The clue board shows which areas are open. Nimbus Fields is available from the start, while later clues stay locked behind real-time cooldowns and unlock one after another.

Select the active node and read its reward list before deploying. A Nimbus Fields run can return Starcisyt Essence, Capaseed, Vein Essence, Flux Crystal, and Irisalis Petals, so check what each mission offers to prioritise the petal-paying ones.

Fill the deployment slots. A mission needs at least 2 Aniimo and takes up to 4. The Quick Select button auto-picks the best team to push the mission toward an S rank, which cuts the timer and raises the reward tier.

Set your Leader Aniimo in the first slot. Every completed dispatch grants a Chance Encounter Gift: Energy Resonance, which gives the leader a +1 to one random potential stat (HP, Atk, Def, Regen, M.Def or Break). If Quick Select picks a leader you do not want boosted, swap the first slot manually while keeping the rest of the high-rank team.

Hit Deploy and wait out the timer. A base B rank takes 4 hours, while an S rank drops it to under three hours and pays a better haul. If your plans change, Recall pulls the team back with no penalty and no lost resources, so you can re-deploy freely.

Crafting the Legendary Aniipod for Irisalis

Once you have gathered enough petals, the crafting itself happens in the follow-up stage, Walking with Irisalis, which is live now. Exchange 99 Irisalis Petals there to build the Legendary Aniipod, the tool that locates and catches Irisalis.

You will know it worked when the Legendary Aniipod appears in your inventory and the Walking with Irisalis stage unlocks the tracking step, letting you set out after the Legendary Aniimo. Until the petal count reaches 99, keep pulling from the story, Elite Pathfinder challenges, Silver Badges, the Stamp Shop, and your Tracing the Trail dispatches, and the crafting option will open the moment you clear the threshold.
