Control Resonant: How to Solve The Park Testing Facility Puzzle (Unsupervised Science)

The Park stage of the Unsupervised Science quest hides Testing Facility Vesey beneath the streets, and the map marker sits over the surface site rather than the way in. To shut it down you first have to drop into the sewers, then run a power shutdown at the facility’s control console. This is one of the Power Core style experiments, so the puzzle is about keeping the stations balanced rather than moving objects around.

Quick answer: From The Park sewers, reach Testing Facility Vesey, start the shutdown at the main console, balance the power stations until every spire turns green, then re-engage the console to finish and earn the Emergency Hood.

Reach Testing Facility Vesey through The Park sewers

In the southeast of The Park, Testing Facility Vesey lies below the sewer system beneath Underhill’s Lab. Two sewer access points connect to the facility, and the New Growth side quest may bring you nearby.

Open the zone map and locate Testing Facility Vesey southeast of Underhill’s Lab, near the marked Sewer Entrances. Drop a marker on it so you can track the direction underground.

Find the round, open concrete sewer pipe at street level, close to the Fast Travel Door, and jump down into it to enter the tunnels.

Follow the linear path down through the glowing orange sludge conduits until you reach the large chamber marked “TESTING FACILITY VESEY.” Deal with the floating enemy inside before moving to the console.

Run the Shut Down the Experiments sequence

The room holds a set of electrical power stations spread across the ground floor and the elevated walkways, each outlined by a yellow square on the floor. Starting the shutdown at the console activates them, and your job is to keep the power balanced until every spire syncs and glows green.

Go to the main control desk on the elevated side platform and interact with it to begin the shutdown sequence. This powers up the coil stations around the chamber.

Move between the ground floor and the raised walkways and work the control boxes inside each yellow-bordered station. Watch the indicators and keep pushing the charge where it is needed, cycling the stations until every coil overloads and the spires all turn green.

Go back to the main console, then activate it once more to complete the shutdown. The objective registers there rather than at the stations, so make sure you perform this final interaction.

How the power balance works

This is the same shutdown puzzle used at the Central and Unknown facilities. A Shutdown Instructions note near the terminal explains the idea, and reading it first makes the run much clearer. Some cores begin charged while others are inactive, and once the timer starts you have a fixed window to keep the system supplied.

The rule is simple. When an inactive station starts flashing red, take power from a charged station and feed it into the one asking for energy. The required layout keeps changing, so react to the warning lights instead of trying to hold one fixed setup. Keep the charge moving for the full shutdown window until the pillars settle on green.

Prioritise whichever station is flashing right now rather than topping up ones that are already stable, since the demand shifts constantly during the sequence.

Rewards and how to confirm the shutdown

You know the puzzle worked when the console interaction triggers a “Quest Log Updated” pop-up along with +1 Undefined Reading and the zone bonus for The Park. That confirmation means the experiment is offline and the observation office is now yours to loot.

Climb the metal stairs and catwalks up to the observation office above the chamber. Two pickups are waiting there.
