The platinum for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt does not demand fast reflexes so much as patience and a checklist. The base game holds 53 trophies (42 bronze, 8 silver, 2 gold, and the platinum), and the Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions add 13 each. Nearly all of it can be earned in one playthrough, provided you play on the hardest difficulty from the start and watch the handful of trophies that vanish if you push the story too far.
Quick answer: Start a fresh game on Death March! and never lower it, complete the missable side quests before “The Isle of Mists,” and collect Gwent cards as you enter each region. Everything else can be mopped up afterward.

Trophy count and difficulty requirement
The difficulty-related trophies can all be earned together. Completing the game on Death March awards Walked the Path (gold), Ran the Gauntlet, and Passed the Trial, removing any need for a second campaign. Lowering the setting from Death March even once cancels the gold trophy for that save.
| Portion | Trophies | Missable |
|---|---|---|
| Base game | 53 total | 11 |
| Hearts of Stone | 13 bronze | 4 |
| Blood and Wine | 13 bronze | 6 |
Death March disables health regeneration from meditation. You heal only through food, drink, and potions, so keep your inventory stocked before hard fights.

Base game missable trophies
These are the trophies that require action before a story deadline or the right dialogue choice. Save often, and keep multiple slots so a mistake never forces a full restart.
| Trophy | Requirement | Deadline |
|---|---|---|
| Friends with Benefits | Complete Keira Metz’s subplot, then send her to Kaer Morhen | Before The Isle of Mists |
| Full Crew | Recruit Triss, Yennefer, Ermion, Zoltan, Keira, Vernon Roche, and Hjalmar via Brothers in Arms | Before Brothers in Arms |
| Assassin of Kings | Finish the Radovid quest chain, tell Dijkstra of Emhyr’s plan in Blindingly Obvious, then do Reason of State | Chain done before The Isle of Mists |
| Kingmaker | Complete Possession or The Lord of Undvik, then King’s Gambit | Before Battle Preparations |
| Card Collector | Collect all 199 base-game Gwent cards, including quest-locked ones | Ongoing from the start |
| Gwent Master | Win all four matches in Gwent: High Stakes and beat Tybalt | Lose a round and you are out |
For Full Crew, Vernon Roche only joins if you complete An Eye for an Eye before the Isle of Mists and keep Ves alive, and Hjalmar only joins if he or Cerys becomes Skellige’s ruler. These prerequisites overlap with Kingmaker, so plan the Skellige quests together.
Contract-based missables
- Even Odds — kill two contract monsters without any Signs, potions, mutagens, oils, or bombs. Remove oil entirely, since even 0/10 charges still counts as oiled, and never use a Sign after accepting the contract.
- Geralt: The Professional — finish all 26 base-game contracts. Do not let the Doppler flee in Contract: An Elusive Thief, or the contract fails.
- The Doppler Effect — the same fight, resolved by stopping the Doppler from escaping.
- Woodland Spirit — In Contract: Heart of the Woods, choose Sven’s side and defeat the Leshen.
- Fearless Vampire Slayer — during Contract: The Mystery of the Byways Murders, push the villagers for more information.
Activity-based missables
- Fast and Furious — win every horse race. Race: The Great Erasmus Vegelbud Memorial Derby cannot be retried, so save before it.
- Brawl Master — win all 13 fistfight quests (4 in Velen, 4 in Novigrad, 5 in Skellige).
- Fist of the South Star — win one fistfight without taking a hit. There is a limited number of fights, so do it early.

Story trophies that unlock on their own
A block of trophies simply pop as you progress the main campaign. You cannot miss these as long as you finish the game.
- Lilac and Gooseberries — find Yennefer (White Orchard prologue).
- Family Counselor — Locate the baron’s daughter and wife in Velen.
- A Friend in Need — free Dandelion (Novigrad).
- Necromancer — help Yennefer read Skjall’s body (Skellige).
- Something More — find Ciri during The Isle of Mists.
- Xeonaut — convince Ge’els to betray Eredin during Through Space and Time.
- The King is Dead — defeat Eredin in On Thin Ice.
Combat and Sign trophies
None of these are missable, so set them up in free-roam once you are strong. Most reward specific setups rather than raw damage.
| Trophy | How to earn it |
|---|---|
| Master Marksman | 50 crossbow headshot kills; farm somewhere like Devil’s Pit |
| Humpty Dumpty | Knock 10 foes off ledges with Aard (cliffs in Skellige, Devil’s Pit) |
| Overkill | Bleed, poison, and burn one enemy at once, 10 times (Broadhead Bolts, Devil’s Puffball, Dancing Star) |
| The Enemy of My Enemy | Force 20 kills with the Axii Puppeteer skill |
| Environmentally Unfriendly | Kill 50 foes with the environment (ignite swamp gas, explode barrels) |
| That Is the Evilest Thing… | Ignite Dragon’s Dream gas with a burning enemy, 10 times |
| Can’t Touch This! | Kill 5 foes with no damage and no Quen; hold block |
| Butcher of Blaviken | Kill 5 foes in under 10 seconds |
| Triple Threat | Kill 3 foes in one fight using 3 methods |
| What Was That? | Attack, counter, Sign, and bomb within 4 seconds |
| Kaer Morhen Trained | Land ten counterattacks consecutively while avoiding all damage |
The Dragon’s Dream Bomb formula for That Is the Evilest Thing… comes from the Herbalist east of Novigrad. Cast Igni on a group, then throw the bomb into the burning gas to chain the ignitions.

Gwent, gear, and progression trophies
Two Gwent trophies sit outside the missable pair. Geralt and Friends asks you to win a round using only neutral cards (Decoys, Geralt, Ciri, and similar), and All In wants three hero cards played in one winning round (Yennefer, Letho, Menno, Morvan).
- Armed and Dangerous — complete one Witcher School scavenger hunt (Griffin, Cat, Bear, or Viper) and equip the full set.
- Dendrologist — max one ability tree; invest 10 points in the General tree, then respec with a Potion of Clearance as needed.
- Mutant — fill all mutagen slots; the fourth unlocks at Level 28.
- Munchkin — reach character level 35, which comes naturally.
- Power Overwhelming — Within 30 minutes, activate the five Places of Power in White Orchard.
- Globetrotter — discover 100 fast-travel points.
For collection trophies, learn 12 potion formulae (Let’s Cook!), gather 6 bomb formulae (Bombardier), read 30 documents (Bookworm), and destroy monster nests for Pest Control (clear one full region) and Fire in the Hole (10 nests with bombs). Skellige has the fewest nests if you want the fastest Pest Control clear.

Hearts of Stone trophies
Difficulty does not matter here, and the trophies do not stack with the base game. You can continue an old save, start New Game+, or launch the expansion directly with a pre-built character. Only two trophies are story-locked and cannot be missed: I’m Not Kissing That in Evil’s Soft First Touches and Pacta Sunt Servanda at the finale.
| Trophy | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Let the Good Times Roll! | Do all 10 wedding activities in Dead Man’s Party before talking to Gaunter O’Dimm |
| Shopaholic | Buy all three auction items in Open Sesame! (bring 1,000+ crowns) |
| Curator of Nightmares | Restore all 8 memories in Scenes From a Marriage |
| When It’s Many Against One… | Wake all 6 Olgierds at once and defeat them in Scenes From a Marriage |
The rest are open-ended: kill 20 cows at Martin Feuille’s Farmstead (Moo-rderer), stack seven potions or decoctions (Can Quit Anytime I Want), win a Gwent round worth 187 strength (Killed It), slide downhill for 10 seconds off Yngvar’s Fang (Rad Steez, Bro!), loot all 8 Fallen Knight camps (Wild Rose Dethorned), reflect 3 arrows with upgraded Arrow Deflection (Return to Sender), and gather the full Ofieri set from the merchant in Upper Hill (I Wore Ofieri Before It Was Cool).

Blood and Wine trophies
Toussaint adds 13 more bronze trophies with no difficulty requirement. You can start from a save that has cleared A Poet Under Pressure, or launch the expansion directly at level 34. The Witcher’s Gone South is the only guaranteed story trophy, unlocking when you reach Toussaint.
Capture the Castle is a point of no return, and the two missable ending trophies split during The Night of Long Fangs. Make backup saves before both.
| Trophy | Requirement |
|---|---|
| David and Golyat | Kill Golyat with a crossbow bolt to the eye in The Beast of Toussaint |
| Last Action Hero | Keep Syanna alive through the final mission |
| Kling of the Clink | Fail to keep Syanna alive (the opposite outcome) |
| A Knight to Remember | Win every event flawlessly in The Warble of a Smitten Knight |
| Embodiment of the Five Virtues | Show Compassion, Generosity, Honor, Valor, and Wisdom, then earn Aerondight |
| The Grapes of Wrath Stomped | Resolve the Wine Wars between Coronata and Vermentino |
Because Last Action Hero and Kling of the Clink require opposite choices, you need the backup save to grab both. The non-missable trophies cover developing a mutation via Yennefer’s letter (Weapon “W”), fully upgrading Corvo Bianco for 14,000 crowns (Playing House), finding all grandmaster diagrams (Turned Every Stone), equipping a full grandmaster set including both swords (Dressed to Kill), collecting all 19 Skellige Gwent cards (I Have a Gwent Problem), and killing a frozen enemy with a crossbow after a Northern Wind Bomb (Hasta la Vista™).

Confirming the platinum
The platinum, The Limits of the Possible, pops automatically the moment every other base-game trophy is registered on the save. If it does not appear after your final trophy, open the in-game trophy or achievement list to confirm each entry shows as earned, since the platinum only fires once the last requirement is logged. Expansion trophies are tracked separately and do not gate the platinum. Once the counter reads complete, you have walked the entire Path.
