Twelve new Grand Theft Auto VI screenshots are out, alongside a 14-page cover story that finally digs into how Rockstar built Leonida. The images give another look at Jason and Lucia, the state’s wildlife, and a weather engine designed to throw hurricanes at Vice City. Here is what the new material actually confirms.

Leonida map size and its six main regions
Leonida is Rockstar’s biggest map so far, covering about twice the area of the GTA 5 map while offering greater density, detail, and interactivity. Buildings, rooftops, alleys, and interiors received added attention. The state contains six main regions, each with its own distinct setting.

Hurricanes, tropical storms, and the redesigned weather system
Rockstar confirmed that hurricanes and tropical storms can strike Leonida, but hasn’t revealed their frequency or whether they affect missions. Expect downpours, powerful winds, overcast skies, thunder, and lightning; water can also be seen streaming off rooftops and other surfaces.
Weather is more persistent and varies by location, meaning different parts of the map may have different conditions. Clouds shift dynamically, from clear winter skies to immense storm formations and lightning in the afternoon. A distinct wind system sends rooftop debris moving, ruffles the water, and sways swamp grass.
Over 170 animal species across Leonida
Leonida contains over 170 animal species, including some never featured in a Rockstar title. Among them are more than 60 bird varieties, upwards of 30 land mammals, plus numerous fish and reptiles. Manatees, flamingos, pelicans, and alligators are confirmed, as are invasive species like iguanas and macaques.
GTA 6 activities confirmed so far
The side activities span land, air, and water. Jason and Lucia can also take part in date activities such as hiking, and the confirmed list of things to do includes the following.
