Leveling toward the cap in Aion 2 leaves you with a steady pile of replaced equipment, and none of it can be sold to vendors. Instead of letting those slots clog your inventory, you can break pieces down for Enhancement Stones and skins, convert duplicates into crafting materials, or carry an item’s progress onto a stronger replacement. The one thing you should not do is get rid of your gold gear.
Quick answer: Extract common gear for Enhancement Stones, a transmog skin, and Kinah. Never sell or extract gold gear, since Syncing needs it. Use Gear Transfer and Substance Morph on dungeon pieces to keep their value.

Extract old gear for Enhancement Stones and skins
Extraction is the default move for white, green, and blue pieces you have already outgrown. It breaks the item down and returns usable materials, which is better than leaving it to take up space you cannot clear through selling.
The skin is where the transmog system comes in. Whatever piece you extract is converted into a cosmetic skin for that slot, so the appearance is preserved even though the stats are gone. The Enhancement Stones are best saved for gear you pick up at level 45 and beyond, so hold onto anything you pull from pre-45 pieces rather than spending it immediately.
Early leveling gear can be enhanced freely, and extracting it returns the Enhancement Stones you spent for only a small Kinah cost. That makes it low-risk to upgrade cheap gear while leveling and reclaim the stones later.

Add to Google Preferences →Keep gold and unique gear for Syncing
Gold gear is the exception to every disposal method above. You should not sell it, and you should not run it through extraction.
Gold gear feeds the Syncing system, where a gold piece is applied to one of your equipped items to replace a weak stat. The replacement stat is randomized, and it can even roll into the same stat you were trying to change with a different value, so you often need several gold pieces to get a good result.
Because endgame Syncing can demand a large stockpile of gold gear, selling or extracting it now means paying to reacquire it later. Treat any gold or unique piece you are not actively using as reserve material and keep it stored.
Carry progress forward with Gear Transfer
When a higher-tier item drops, you do not have to start its upgrade progress from zero. Gear Transfer moves part of an old item’s investment onto the new one, which protects the resources you already spent. It does not move everything, though, and the split matters when you decide where to pour materials.
| Layer on the old item | Carries to new gear? |
|---|---|
| Enhancement level | Yes |
| Soul Binding / Soul Imprinting | Yes |
| Potential stats | No |
| Manastones | No |
| Theo Stones | No |
The practical takeaway is a spending order. Push enhancement and Soul Binding on gear you expect to replace, because that progress travels with you through transfer. Hold your Manastones, Theo Stones, and Potential investment for the item you actually intend to keep, since those layers are discarded on transfer and would have to be rebuilt from scratch.

Recycle duplicates with Substance Morph
Old and duplicate dungeon gear has a second use beyond extraction. Substance Morph breaks these pieces into endgame crafting and upgrade materials rather than a single Enhancement Stone, which makes it the better choice for repeated dungeon drops.
- Kina chests
- Amplify Stones
- Sync Stones
- Potential Stones
The Potential Stones are worth noting, because Potential stats do not transfer to replacement gear. Feeding duplicate drops into Substance Morph for Potential Stones lets you rebuild that layer on each new item you plan to keep.
Do not dismantle or sell dungeon duplicates on sight. Sort your inventory into three groups first — gear you are wearing, gear saved for future transfers, and gear flagged for Substance Morph materials — so you never scrap a piece you needed.

How to know it worked
After extraction, the Item Extraction window lists the Enhancement Stone, skin, and Kinah before you confirm, and the piece leaves your inventory once accepted. A transfer finishes with the new item showing the inherited enhancement level and Soul Binding, while the socketed layers reset. A successful Substance Morph replaces the old gear with the materials listed above. If a gold piece is missing from your bags after a cleanup, that is the one mistake to avoid, since Syncing later in the endgame depends on having those pieces on hand.
