Yggdrasil Log serves as a magical crafting resource for handicrafting and alchemy in AION 2. It has four grades, all obtained from the same log nodes; on the Global client, those nodes are found in just one region. For a reliable stock to make bows, staffs, or high-level scrolls, gather the logs yourself.
Quick answer: Gather it with Essence Extraction from Yggdrasil log nodes in Verteron, where 125 spots are placed across the region. The same nodes can yield any of the four grades.
Where to gather Yggdrasil Log in Verteron
Yggdrasil is a log resource with 125 nodes in Verteron on the Global client. The nodes are spread across several areas of the region, including Ellun River Marsh, Altamia Canyon, Forest of Exiles and Contaminated Marsh, with more spots scattered through the rest of the zone. Because each node depletes after use, the fastest routes loop between these areas rather than camping one patch.
A reliable circuit threads through the clearing between Fire Temple, Ancient Zunion Temple and Altamia Canyon, hitting a dense cluster of log nodes along the way.

Several Verteron sub-regions sit close enough to chain together on a flight path. Forest of Exiles, for example, holds Yggdrasil nodes and lines up with other gathering routes through Southern Tolbas Forest and Aullaeu Village.

Routes through the river areas near Ilun River Meadow and Illusion Cavaliers’ Camp cover the opposite side of the region, useful when the closer nodes are contested.

Add to Google Preferences →The four Yggdrasil Log grades
Every Yggdrasil log node can produce one of four grades per gather, from Common up to Unique. A single extraction gives one log, plus a chance at bonus Seed of Detection and Poko’s Skin Bundle. All four grades are tradable and share the same tier-1 crafting category.
| Variant | Grade | Required level | Sell price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Common | 15 | 5 kina | |
| Rare | 25 | 15 kina | |
| Epic | 35 | 45 kina | |
| Unique | 40 | 135 kina |
Which grade a node hands you is not fixed, and the higher grades are the ones endgame recipes call for. There is no reward cap or per-gather percentage to chase here; you simply keep gathering the same nodes and sort the results by grade.
How Essence Extraction works on log nodes
Yggdrasil nodes are gathered with Essence Extraction and need only gathering proficiency level 1 (Novice) to start, so you can begin collecting them early. Each node has three health segments, which means up to three gathering attempts before it is used up, and other players can work the same node at the same time.
As you gather, the blue meter moves toward success while the brown one tracks failure. If the brown meter reaches its limit before the blue one, you get no material from that try. Don’t stop early even if failure seems certain; unsuccessful attempts still grant gathering experience.

Build and consumables for faster farming
Gathering skill points decide how often your attempts succeed and how fast you pull each log. After the Novice reset, a 10/10/5 spread into Proficient Handling (10), Delicate Touch (10) and Lady Luck (5) keeps failed attempts near zero and lets you finish a node before a contesting player can.
The specialty trees add detection and extra yield. Max the relevant seeker branch, Plentiful Harvest and the matching appraiser so high-value rare pulls show up more often while you gather.

Travel between nodes by flying to cut downtime, and keep flight topped up with a flight-power potion so you never land mid-route. Cooking buffs help too; an Epic food such as White Dragon’s Chopped Steak adds survivability if you are gathering through contested or dangerous ground.

Other ways to get Yggdrasil Log
Gathering is not the only source. Yggdrasil Log is also a quest reward, handed out by a large number of mission quests, including the “Wanted” bounty line, which is a steady trickle of the Common grade while you level.
Substance Morphing is a later option for players who would rather not compete for nodes. It converts Odyle crystals into Yggdrasil logs at a full success rate, which suits bulk production once you have a surplus of crystals to feed it.
What Yggdrasil Log is used for
The logs feed two refined materials. Yggdrasil Wood is a Handicrafting component, and Yggdrasil Paper is an Alchemy component for high-level scrolls. Both scale up sharply in cost at the higher recipe levels, which is why a running stockpile of logs matters.

| Made from logs | Profession | Logs per recipe |
|---|---|---|
| Handicrafting Lv. 1 | 2 | |
| Handicrafting Lv. 25 | 20 | |
| Alchemy Lv. 5 | 1 | |
| Alchemy Lv. 25 | 10 |
From there, the wood and paper go into bows, staffs and specialized scrolls, which is where the demand for logs comes from. Because the material sits at the front of those recipes, keeping a Verteron farming loop in rotation is the simplest way to stay supplied whether you craft for yourself or sell the surplus.
